The Alanate Reduction of Sodium Diethyl Allylmalonates and the Structure of Yomogi AlcoholReduction of the sodium diethyl allyl(or benzyl)malonates 4, 7,11,15, and 19 with lithium aluminium hydride gives the 2-allyl(or benzyl) substituted allyl alcohols 5a, 8a, 12a, 16a, und 20, respectively, together with smaller amounts of the 2-allyl (or benzyl)propanols 6a, 9a, 13, 17a, and 21. For separation, 8a, 12a, 16a, and 20 were selectively oxidized with manganese dioxide to the corresponding aldehydes 10, 14, 18, and 22, which were chromatographically separated and again reduced to the alcohols. The syntheses of yomogi alcohol (25) and of its isomer 24 are described.

Reduktion der Natrium-allyl- bzw. -benzyl-malonsäureester 4, 7,11,15 und 19 mit Lithiumalanat gibt die 2-allyl-bzw. 2-benzyl-substituierten Allylalkohole 5a, 8a, 12a, 16a und 20, zusammen mit geringeren Mengen der 2-Allyl- bzw. 2-Benzyl-propanole 6a,9a, 13,17a und 21. Zur Trennung wurden 8a, 12a, 16a und 20 selektiv mit Mangandioxid zu den Aldehyden 10, 14, 18 und 22 oxydiert, diese chromatographisch abgetrennt und zu den Alkoholen rückreduziert. Die Synthesen von Yomogi-Alkohol (25) und seinem Isomeren 24 werden beschrieben.
