    Notes: Abstract During the course of investigations concerned with a cattle disease („Weidekrankheit”) in Austrian alpine regions, it became of interest to examine the sterol fractions of some typical grasing plants, since it seemed possible that a biological connection exists between the phytosterols, Vitamin D and related compounds and the cause of the “Weidekrankheit”. The sterol contents of eight different species of Austrian alpine grasses especially of Trisetum flavescens, were studied by gas-liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. All contained sitosterol as the main component, besides cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, Δ7-cholestenol and Δ7,24 (28)-stigmastadienol. The aim of this examination was to establish whether there is an influence of fertilizing on the content of the above mentioned compounds: no remarkable difference between the sterol contents of fertilized and non-fertilized grasses could be found.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The equilibrium constants of the reaction of nitrous acid with methanol, ethanol, propanols and butanols in aqueous solution at 25° C were found-according to the kinetic method of the equilibrium determination byHermann Schmid 1-by measurements of the phenol nitrosation by nitrous acid in alcoholic aqueous solution. The rate coefficients of the O-nitrosation of the alcohols by nitrosoacidiumion were calculated from the determined equilibrium constants and the known rate coefficients of the hydrogen ion catalyses of the alkyl nitrite hydrolyses and the mechanism of the alcohol nitrosation is discussed.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Die Gleichgewichtskonstanten der Reaktion der salpetrigen Säure mit Methanol, Äthanol, Propanolen und Butanolen in wäßriger Lösung bei 25° C wurden nach der kinetischen Methode der Gleichgewichtsbestimmung vonHermann Schmid mit Hilfe von Geschwindigkeitsmessungen der Phenolnitrosierung durch salpetrige Säure in alkoholhältiger wäßriger Lösung ermittelt. Die Geschwindigkeitskoeffizienten der O-Nitrosierung der Alkohole durch Nitritacidiumion wurden aus den ermittelten Gleichgewichtskonstanten und den bekannten Geschwindigkeitskoeffizienten der Wasserstoffionkatalysen der Alkylnitrithydrolysen berechnet und der Reaktionsmechanismus der Alkoholnitrosierung diskutiert.

The structure of 5f has been determined by X-ray diffraction techniques. Spectral data are in accord with the structure proposal 5. Compounds 5 can be protonated and alkylated; with nucleophiles opening of the 5-membered ring occurs.
    Notes: Die Reaktion von Diphenylcyclopropenon (1) und Diphenylcyclopropenthion (2) mit Ketenacetalen 3 bzw. 4 liefert bei Raumtemperatur 2-Azoniabicyclo[3.1.0]hex-3-en-3-olate 5. Die Struktur konnte für 5f durch Röntgenstrukturanalyse bewiesen werden. Die spektroskopischen Daten sind mit dem Konstitutionsvorschlag 5 im Einklang. Die Ammonium-acylide lassen sich protonieren und alkylieren; mit nucleophilen Reagentien erfolgt die Öffnung des Fünfrings in den Bicyclen 5.

The structure of 6 has been proven by hydrolysis, ozonolysis, and hydrogenation. In two cases the cis-2,4-pentadienamides 6 isomerize to the trans-isomers 9.
    Notes: Bei höherer Temperatur setzen sich Diphenylcyclopropenon (1) und Diphenylcyclopropenthion (2) mit Ketenacetalen 3 bzw. 7 zu stabilen 1:1-Addukten um, denen die Konstitution von cis-2,4-Pentadienamiden 6 bzw. 8 zukommt. Die früher beschriebenen thermolabilen 1:1-Addukte (2-Azoniabicyclo[3.1.0]hex-3-en-3-olate bzw. -thiolate) sind Zwischenprodukte der Reaktion. Die Konstitution 6 wird durch Hydrolyse-, Ozonolyse- und Hydrierungsreaktionen bewiesen. In zwei Fällen unterliegen die cis-2,4-Pentadienamide 6 thermischen cis-trans-Isomerisierungen zu 9.

    Description: Es gibt Mythen des Entscheidens, die immer wieder erzählt werden, wie beispielsweise die Entscheidung von Adam und Eva im Paradies, vom Baum der Erkenntnis zu essen, das Urteil des Paris, Herakles am Scheideweg oder Buridans Esel, der sich zwischen zwei Heuhaufen nicht entscheiden kann und deshalb zugrunde geht. Der aus dem Münsteraner Sonderforschungsbereich 1150 »Kulturen des Entscheidens« hervorgegangene interdisziplinäre Tagungsband untersucht das Verhältnis von Mythos, Narration und Entscheiden. Er setzt in Mythos und Literatur erzählte Entscheidensszenarien in Bezug zu modernen Theorien des Entscheidens und fragt nach ihrer Funktion sowie den Veränderungen in unterschiedlichen historischen und kulturellen Kontexten. Analysiert werden einerseits Entscheidenssituationen, die in Mythen dargestellt werden; andererseits wird auch deutlich, in welcher Weise Mythen selbst Entscheidensdispositive darstellen. Die Beiträge des Bandes zeigen, wie Entscheidensmythen und -narrative der Kontingenzbewältigung dienen und betonen den sozialen Handlungscharakter des Entscheidens.

    Description: Als Goethe 1786 nach Italien aufbrach, begründete er gegenüber Herzog Carl August seine Reise mit Vorstellungen einer gelehrten Muße, die seit der Antike Freiräume für geistige Tätigkeiten legitimierten. Peter Philipp Riedl untersucht innerhalb dieses Rahmens einer temporären Freiheit von beruflichen Verpflichtungen konkrete Ausprägungen urbaner Muße, die in der Italienischen Reise insbesondere aus Verona, Padua, Venedig, Rom, Neapel und Palermo geschildert werden. Übergänge von Aktivität und Passivität, von durchaus anstrengender, aber selbstbestimmter Arbeit und Genuss werden ebenso analysiert wie unterschiedliche Muster kontemplations- und erlebnisorientierter Muße. Ergänzt werden diese Überlegungen durch Interpretationen von Formen narrativer Muße in Das Römische Carneval, poetischen Inszenierungen der Raumzeitlichkeit von Muße in den Römischen Elegien sowie Evokationen lyrischen Flanierens in den Venezianischen Epigrammen.
