Description / Table of Contents:
By action of elementary chlorine on S4N4 suspended in carbon tetrachloride, yellow crystals of S3N3Cl3 (m. p. = 162,5°C (decomp.); d420 = 2,09; solubility in CCl4 at 21°C: 24 grs./liter) have been prepared.Colorless crystals of S3N3F3 (m. p. = 74,2°C; b. p. = 92,5°C) are formed by reaction between S3N3Cl3 and AgF2 in CCl4. S3N3F3 is well soluble in cold CCl4 and benzene.The two compounds are quantitatively hydrolyzed in sodium hydroxide yielding NH3, SO32- and halogenide ions.
Notes:
Schmelzpunkt 162,5°C (Zers.); d420 = 2,09; Löslichkeit in CCl4 (21°C): 24 g/Liter.
