We are building a new time-resolving x-ray pinhole camera to image z pinches at the Saturn facility. The instrument is designed to have a spatial resolution of 64 μm for 2 keV photons, and a temporal resolution of 100 ps. The microchannel-plate-intensified detector will have nine, 20-mm-wide gold striplines. Each stripline will have an impedance of 5.55 Ω. We will present measurements of the temporal resolution of the detector, and describe new high-voltage gating circuitry designed to drive the low-impedance striplines. © 1995 American Institute of Physics.
