Summary Practical efficiency ofP. perniciosi was studied in France in four various orchards situated in three districts selected according to the climate: an orchard of apple-trees at Chézy; an orchard of apple-trees and cherry-trees at Brignais (Lyonnais) and an orchard of peach-trees at Mandelieu in the mediterranean region. Every time, in spite of the chemical treatments realized during the year, the real rate of parasitism increased and consequently San José scale populations has been reduced. If results are confronted with those obtained at the same time in foreign countries, it is possible to see that the climate plays the first part in the determinism ofProspaltella's efficiency, but the chemical treatments interfere also for checking the active increase of parasite.
