Notes: Summary American species ofProspaltella, P. aurantii How. unknown in Europe was studied in Alpes-Maritimes onQ. pyri living on fig-trees. In this country, host has two annual generations, and it overwinters like a second stage larvae, while in the same time, three generations occur for parasite. In the particular climatic conditions of this study, the efficiency of this parasite is complete before two years owing to the destruction of the mâle progeny.

Notes: Zusammenfassung In Frankreich, wirdPseudaulacaspis pentagona Targ. (Homoptera-Diaspidinae) durchProspaltella berlesei How. (Chalcidoidea-Aphelinidae) parasitiert.

Notes: Summary After a short introduction to place the present problem ofA. aurantii in Morocco, the authors mention importation of twoAphytis species (A. lingnanensis andA. melinus), the efficient parasites of the California Red Scale in several countries. Mass-breeding method used to build upAphytis production was this of the Californian workers, but numerous difficulties during 1966 have forbidden to raise a big production. Field colonization has been realized and good results has been obtained with low host densities, in several orchards. Now, the settlement of this problem should be searched out the «Integrated Control» and new export patterns for Citrus from Morocco.

Notes: Summary Ecological studies onQuadraspidiotus perniciosus Comst. (Homoptera-Diaspidinae) have been realized in the mediterranean zone of France. New investigations concern: - life cycle of San José Scale. There are three generations per year, the scale hibernates as a diapausing first instar larva; - natural mortality: climatic factors have prevailing importance on the growth of populations, during the spring by their action on young larval instars; - natural enemies; Predators:Cybocephalus sp.,Chilocorus bipustulatus l. have no economic interest; Collected parasites are:Aphytis proclia wlk.,Aspidiotiphagus citrinus craw.,Prospaltella aurantii how. Their numerical importance varies during the year. But their life cycle is determined by two factors: climate and host, the second depending also of the first.Aphytis proclia has three generations and a possible partial fourth. Its cycle is only conditioned by seasonal factors. Both endophagous parasites have a life cycle with three generations and a possible partial fourth. In winter diapause of host induces dormancy of the parasite. But during spring summer and autumn, climatic factors alone regulate the evolution of Hymenopterous parasites.

Notes: Summary In Antibes area, outbreaks ofC. rusci onFicus sp. occur after regular periods of 2 or 3 years. The most important natural enemies of this pest are: -Coccophagus lycimnia Wilk. (Aphelinids), -Scutellista cyanea Motsch. (Pteromalids), -Tomocera california How. (Pteromalids), and two species of the genusTetrastichus (Eulophids). One of these is a primary parasite and the second is parasitic on the first. It is supposed that these are the key factors of the dynamic of population ofC. rusci.

Notes: Summary Climatic factors have an important influence on the efficiency of hymenopterous parasites of Coccids. Significant differences were observed in the rate of parasitism ofPseudaulacaspis pentagona Targ. by its natural enemies in different orchards or on different trees of the same orchard. In order to investigate this phenomenon, experiments were designed in which the position of parasitized hosts on the bough was taken in consideration. Analysis of host and parasite populations on the different parts of a bough show that the control byProspaltella berlesei How (Hym. Aphelinidae) is better on the shaded side; similar experiments have been undertaken withP. perniciosi prior to colonisation of this species for the Biological Control of the San José Scale.

Notes: Summary Practical efficiency ofP. perniciosi was studied in France in four various orchards situated in three districts selected according to the climate: an orchard of apple-trees at Chézy; an orchard of apple-trees and cherry-trees at Brignais (Lyonnais) and an orchard of peach-trees at Mandelieu in the mediterranean region. Every time, in spite of the chemical treatments realized during the year, the real rate of parasitism increased and consequently San José scale populations has been reduced. If results are confronted with those obtained at the same time in foreign countries, it is possible to see that the climate plays the first part in the determinism ofProspaltella's efficiency, but the chemical treatments interfere also for checking the active increase of parasite.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary The Micropterous form ofEncyrtus rufulus Mercet, newly collected in France, is described and the macropterous form is re-described. Statistic analysis shows lack of transition between the two forms, which are morphologically separated. An attempt to a bio-systematic partition betweenEncyrtus andMicroterys species is suggested and micropterism in Encyrtid family is discussed.
