    Beschreibung: La palourde Ruditapes decussatus (Linnaeus, 1758) est la seule espèce de bivalve exploitée en milieu naturel sur les côtes tunisiennes. Au cours de ces dernières années, l’exploitation artisanale de cette espèce a connu des fluctuations et depuis l’année 1996 sa production a beaucoup baissé. Comme on ne dispose pas jusqu’à ce travail que peu d'éléments pour l'analyse des pêcheries de palourdes en Tunisie, cette étude a donc pour objectif de pallier à cette lacune et de proposer quelques mesures d'aménagement souhaitables pour tendre vers une exploitation cohérente des stocks en cette espèce. Le recours à la science de la dynamique des populations exploitées a été adopté. Cette science exige certains paramètres biologiques, ainsi des études de la reproduction, de la taille de première maturité sexuelle, de la morphométrie et de la croissance de la palourde ont été entreprises. Le cycle sexuel de R. decussatus et les modalités de ponte ont été définis dans trois zones d’étude, le canal de Tunis, la lagune nord de Tunis et Zaraat. Dans l’étude des caractéristiques morphologiques, nous avons d’abord déterminé les relations de croissance pondérale puis linéaire de la palourde dans ces trois zones. Nous avons rassemblé les mesures faits à différentes périodes de l’année et les sexes ont été distingués et comparés, puis regroupés. Ensuite, moyennant des analyses univariées et multivariées, on a comparé les paramètres biométriques de la palourde vivant dans différentes régions du littoral tunisien. Cette croissance relative chez les palourdes des côtes tunisiennes est variable d’une part, suivant les relations et les indices considérés et d’autre part suivant les régions examinées. La croissance en âge a été étudiée au moyen de la lecture des stries des coquilles provenant de la région de Tunis. Cette étude a permis de donner des informations précieuses sur la croissance en âge de la palourde à Tunis et sur les paramètres du modèle de Von Bertalanffy. L’étude des stocks de palourde des côtes tunisiennes a été abordée par l’utilisation de deux méthodes, il s’agit des modèles globaux (Schaefer et de Fox) et l’«évaluation directe ». La confrontation des résultats de ces deux méthodes a montré que ces deux dernières se complètent dans la région du golfe de Gabès et elles sont très différentes dans la région de Tunis. Dans tous les cas, le regard de ce premier diagnostic des pêcheries de palourdes en Tunisie, nous a incités à recommander de ne pas s’éloigner d’une production de 700 tonnes par an, pour que le stock en cette espèce ne soit pas détruit.
    Beschreibung: Along the Tunisian coast, the only bivalve species naturally exploited is the clam Ruditapes decussatus. In recent years, traditional exploitation of this species has fluctuated since 1996 and its production has declined significantly. Since there is little information about analysis of clam fisheries in Tunisia, this study aims to fill this gap and propose some management measures to move towards a desirable operating consistent stock in this case. The science of exploited populations dynamics was adopted. This science requires some biological parameters, reproduction, size at first sexual maturity, morphology and growth of clams were undertaken. The sexual cycle of Ruditapes decussatus and terms of spawning were identified in three areas of study; the Tunis channel, north lagoon of Tunis and Zaraat. In the study of morphological characteristics, we have first determined the relationship of weight and linear growth of the clams in these three areas. We collected measurements made at different times of the year and gender were recognized, compared and aggregated. Then through unvariate and multivariate analysis, we compared the biometric parameters of the clams living in different regions of the Tunisian coast. This clams relative growth varies from one hand, according to the relations and indexes involved and secondly following the areas examined. Growth in age has been studied by means of reading shells streaks from the region of Tunis. This study has given valuable information on growth in the age of clams in Tunis and on the parameters of von Bertalanffy. The study of clam stocks of Tunisian coast was approached by tow methods; the global models (Schaefer and Fox) and Comparing the results of both methods showed that the two methods are complementary in the Gabes Gulf and they are different in the Tunis area. In all cases, this investigation on clam fisheries in Tunisia has prompted us to recommend maintaining a limit production of 700 tons per year so that natural stock of this species would not be destroyed.

    Beschreibung: El octil-metoxicinamato (OMC) es un compuesto fotoprotector, orgánico, sintético presente en la gran mayoría de las pantallas solares comerciales. Estudios previos han probado su limitada fotoestabilidad y que algunos de los productos de degradación del mismo (2-etilhexanol y p-metoxibenzaldehido) presentan cierto grado de toxicidad, aunque a concentraciones mayores que las presentes en una pantalla solar. Se conocen productos naturales con excelentes propiedades fotoprotectoras como los aminoácidos tipo micosporina o MAAs (por ejemplo shinorine y porphyra-334) y, en algunos casos también con capacidad antioxidante, como el gadusol. Estas sustancias surgen como atractivas alternativas a las pantallas sintéticas, de allí proviene el interés de explorar su utilización en formulaciones mixtas y caracterizar el comportamiento de las mezclas a temperatura ambiente y frente a la irradiación, tanto en solución como en crema base. En este trabajo se evaluó por un lado la extracción de MAAs en diferentes fuentes de algas rojas del género Porphyra, del Mar Argentino, explorando tanto muestras naturales, frescas o liofilizadas, como muestras desecadas comerciales. El rendimiento de la extracción es mayor para las algas frescas y las liofilizadas, mientras que las muestras secas comerciales aportan cantidades entre cien y mil veces menores. Por otra parte, se evaluó la estabilidad de mezclas de OMC y los filtros UV naturales (MAAs o gadusol) a temperatura ambiente durante 48 hs, mediante espectrofotometría UV-visible y HPLC. Los resultados indican que, en crema base, la combinación de estos filtros incrementa la estabilidad del factor de protección solar, mientras que en solución parece no afectar de manera significativa. Además se estudió la evolución de las mezclas durante un período de 4 hs de irradiación, resultando que en crema la fotoestabilidad es mayor que para el OMC.

    Beschreibung: The distribution of mussel Crenomytilus grayanus and horse mussel Modiolus kurilensis has been studied in the Boysman and Baklan Bays (Peter the Great Gulf, the Sea of Japan) depending on the habitat depths and the type of bottom sediments. Crenomytilus grayanus prevails both on hard and soft substrates. Total stocks of both species are assessed as 2.7 ths tons.

    Beschreibung: In the second half of the 20th century, the Azov Sea was the second largest in the world in terms of commercial stocks and catches of sturgeon — stellate sturgeon, Russian sturgeon and great sturgeon. Unsustainable commercial exploitation and disruption of natural reproduction after the hydrotechnical regulation of the spawning rivers of the Don and Kuban basins led to a sharp decrease in stock levels in the 1960s. The development of commercial artificial reproduction allowed to restore the stock of sturgeon to the level of the natural regime of rivers by the early 1990s, as wells as to maintain the stock of sturgeon at a stable level and to preserve beluga as a species. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, mass illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU-catch) led to the almost complete destruction of the populations of sturgeon and beluga, and to a sharp decrease in the abundance of sturgeon. Joint measures by Russia and Ukraine to eliminate IUU-catch and to carry out commercial artificial reproduction will make it possible to restore the commercial reserves of sturgeon in a relatively short time.
    Beschreibung: Во второй половине XX века Азовское море занимало второе место в мире по величине промысловых запасов и уловов осетровых рыб — севрюги, осетра и белуги. Нерациональная промысловая эксплуатация и нарушение естественного воспроизводства после гидротехнического зарегулирования нерестовых рек Дона и Кубани привели к резкому снижению уровней запасов в 1960х гг. Развитие промышленного воспроизводства позволило к началу 1990х гг. восстановить запас осетра до уровня естественного режима рек, поддерживать запас севрюги на стабильном уровне и сохранять белугу как вид. После распада Советского Союза массовый незаконный, несообщаемый и нерегулируемый вылов (ННН-промысел) привел к практически полному уничтожению популяций севрюги и белуги, резкому снижению численности осетра. Проведение совместных мероприятий Россией и Украиной по ликвидации ННН-промысла и осуществлению промышленного воспроизводства позволят восстановить промысловые запасы осетровых рыб в относительно короткие сроки.

    Beschreibung: Studies have been carried out to identify potential fishery species in two internal water bodies of Stavropol Krai, Russia (Bolshoe Medvezhenskoe and Maloe Medvezhenskoe reservoirs), and to determine taxonomic and quantitative composition of the commercial aquatic organisms. Representatives of zooplankton communities in the investigated water bodies are cladocera, copepods, crustaceans and rotifers. In terms of abundance and biomass, Diaptomus salinus, which is a potentially commercial species, occupies the leading position in those two water bodies. Diptera larvae of the family Chironomidae (non-biting midges) are of the highest abundance and biomass in the benthos. High abundance and biomass values of D. salinus and peculiarities of their age structure in the studied water bodies indicate a significant level of reproductive potential of the population and the ability of copepods to recover quickly after harvesting. The commercial stocks of both Bolshoe Medvezhenskoe and Maloe Medvezhenskoe were estimated as 3,450 kg and 7,478 kg. Without any negative effects, it is possible to withdraw not less than 40 % of the stock that makes up 1.4 t and 3.0 t, respectively. Taking into account the number and biomass of plankton crustaceans and the reproduction efficiency of their populations in both water bodies, the commercial fishery will not cause any additional damage to the stocks of the aquatic biological resources but enable the increase of the legalization level of catches and reduce the level of unreported fishing.
    Beschreibung: Проведены исследования с целью выявления потенциальных объектов промысла в двух внутренних водных объектах Ставропольского края (водохранилища Большое Медвеженское и Малое Медвеженское) и определения качественного и количественного состава промысловых гидробионтов. Зоопланктонные сообщества в исследованных водоемах представлены ветвистоусыми (Cladocera), веслоногими (Copepoda) ракообразными и коловратками. По численности и биомассе лидирующее положение в водоемах занимает Diaptomus salinus, являющийся потенциально промысловым объектом. В бентосе по численности и биомассе доминируют личинки двукрылых насекомых из семейства Chironomida (комары-звонцы). Высокие значения численности и биомассы D. salinus в исследованных водоемах и особенности возрастной структуры свидетельствуют о значительном уровне воспроизводственного потенциала популяции и возможности быстро восстанавливаться после изъятия. Запас промысловых беспозвоночных в Большом Медвеженском и Малом Медвеженском был оценен в объеме 3450 и 7478 кг. Без негативных последствий существует возможность изымать не менее 40 % запаса, что составит 1,4 и 3,0 т, соответственно. Учитывая численность и биомассу планктонных ракообразных, а также эффективность воспроизводства их популяций в водоемах, организация промышленного рыболовства не нанесет какого-либо ущерба популяции промысловых водных биоресурсов и будет способствовать повышению уровня легализации уловов пользователями и снижению уровня несообщаемого рыболовства.

    Beschreibung: Long-term quantitative estimates of the population parameters and stock biomass for the most important commercial bottom-dwelling fish of the Azov and Black Seas are presented basing on YugNIRO (till 1989 AzCherNIRO) fisheries research for the last 25-30 years. Biomass estimated are presented for sturgeons (Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii, starry sturgeon A. stellatus, and beluga Huso huso), flatfishes (Black Sea and Azov Sea populations of turbot Psetta maxima and flounder Platichthys flesus, Red mullet Mullus barbatus, grey mullets (golden grey mullet Liza aurata, flathead grey mullet Mugil cephalus, leaping mullet Liza saliens, and haarder Mugil soiuy), spiny dogfish Squalus acanthias, rays (thornback ray Raja clavata and common stingray Dasyatis pastinaca), Black Sea whiting Merlangius merlangus, pike-perch Stizostedion lucioperca, and round goby Neogobius melanostomus. Parameters of von Bertalanffy growth equations for several species are presented also. In accordance with current level of fisheries exploitation (taking into account the poaching and non-reported catches) the stocks of the bottom fish near the Ukrainian coast can be divided into three groups: 1) non-exploited species (spiny dogfish, rays, whiting), 2) underexploited species (pike-perch, Black Sea turbot, haarder, red mullet), 3) highly exploited species (sturgeons, Azov Sea turbot, flounder of Sivash Gulf). The fish populations in the depleted state (Azov Sea gobies, native mullets) should be considered as separate group.
    Beschreibung: В данной работе изложены количественные оценки параметров популяций и величины запасов большинства важнейших промысловых рыб, обитающих преимущественно в придонных водах Азовского и Черного морей, полученные в результате рыбохозяйственных исследований ЮгНИРО (АзчерНИРО) и его отделений в последние 25-30 лет. В настоящее время по степени использования промыслом (с учетом браконьерства и неучтенного вылова) запасы рыб придонного комплекса у берегов Украины можно разделить на три группы: 1. Слабооблавливаемые (катран, скаты, мерланг); 2. Недоиспользуемые (судак, черноморский калкан, пиленгас, барабуля); 3. Интенсивно эксплуатируемые (осетровые, азовский калкан, сивашская глосса). В отдельную группу следует включить популяции рыб, находящиеся в неблагополучном состоянии — бычки Азовского моря, аборигенные кефали. Исследования по оценке запасов придонных рыб Черного и Азовского морей, проводимые ЮгНИРО и его отделениями, позволяют иметь представления о динамике численности этих важных промысловых объектов и разрабатывать научно обоснованные рекомендации по регулированию их промысла.

    Beschreibung: In 2018, the abundance and biomass of Artemia cysts were monitored in 35 hypersaline water bodies of Russia (in Crimea and Western Siberia), and the results are presented. The fraction of benthic cysts in total stocks is shown to be considerable, and conclusion is made that these cysts will define the formation of abundance of the first generation in the following harvesting season.
    Beschreibung: В статье приведены результаты мониторинга численности и биомассы цист артемии, проведенного в 2018 г. в 35 гипергалинных водоемах России (Крым и Западная Сибирь). Показана значительная доля бентосных цист в общих запасах и делается заключение об определяющей роли этих цист в формировании численности первой генерации последующего промыслового сезона.

    Beschreibung: Long-term astacological research in AzNIIRKH has been carried out with the purpose of studying the state of natural crayfish populations and their habitat in the waterbodies of the Azov Sea Basin, assessing crayfish stocks, working out total allowable catch amounts and recommendations for the conservation, replenishment and rational use of stocks. It is a retrospective study of the biology and ecology of crayfish populations, the dynamics of their quantitative and qualitative characteristics, and the development of artificial reproduction biotechnologies. The current status of astacological research in AzNIIRKH is characterized.
    Beschreibung: Многолетние астакологические исследования в АзНИИРХ осуществляются с целью изучения состояния естественных популяций речных раков и условий их обитания в водоемах Азовского бассейна, определения запасов, разработки общего допустимого улова и рекомендаций по сохранению, пополнению и рациональному использованию запасов. Освещена ретроспектива изучения биологии и экологии популяций раков, динамики их количественных и качественных характеристик, разработки биотехники искусственного воспроизводства.     Beschreibung: Structural analysis of chum salmon population of the Kichiga River has been carried out on the basis of archive and modern data. The pool of the biological statistic data analyzed allows to conclude that for now the population has passed significant structural transformation, the fraction of the fish of older age groups increased, and average body length decreased, as well as fecundity. The stock abundance of chum salmon in the Kichiga River is increasing.
    Beschreibung: Представлены материалы, включающие архивные и современные данные, проведен анализ структуры популяции кеты р. Кичига. Накопленный биостатистический материал позволил заключить, что к настоящему времени произошли существенные изменения структуры стада: увеличение доли рыб старших возрастов, уменьшение средних размеров, увеличение плодовитости. Состояние запасов кеты р. Кичига находится на подъеме.

    Beschreibung: Professor Evgeniy Boyko (1905–1985) is an outstanding researcher of the Azov Sea Basin bioresources. The main direction of his research work was to discover the fluctuation causes for the main commercial fish stocks. Professor Boyko is the creator of the biostatistical method, which made possible for the fishing industry to achieve high forecast accuracy. Application of this method allowed for assessment of absolute stock size and abundance of individual generations, as wells as for evaluation of fishing intensity and commercial return (yield potential), with high degree of efficiency. It also made possible to identify the factors, predetermining reproductive efficiency. There are both theoretical and methodological studies among the works of Professor Boyko; they consider the problem of the dynamics of commercial fish abundance and other subject matters, and some studies formed the basis for the General Schemes of Aquatic Resources Exploitation and were related to the issues of fish stocks reproduction. All his work was characterized by elaboration, meticulousness and high scientific value, which resulted from long-term research studies, performed both by Professor Boyko himself and by researchers under his supervision.
    Beschreibung: Профессор Евгений Григорьевич Бойко (1905–1985) — выдающийся исследователь биоресурсов Азовского бассейна. Главное направление его исследований — выяснение причин колебаний запасов основных промысловых рыб. Е.Г. Бойко являлся создателем биостатистического метода, позволившего достичь высокой оправдываемости прогнозов в рыбной отрасли. Использование данного метода позволило с высокой степенью эффективности определять абсолютную величину запаса и численность отдельных поколений, давать оценки интенсивности промысла и промысловому возврату, а также выявлять факторы, обуславливающие эффективность размножения. Среди работ Е.Г. Бойко есть как работы теоретического и методического характера по проблеме динамики численности промысловых рыб, так и исследования, положенные в основу Генеральных схем использования водных ресурсов и связанные с вопросами воспроизводства рыбных запасов. Все его труды отличались большой тщательностью проработки материала и являлись результатом многолетних исследований, проведенных как самим ученым, так и специалистами под его руководством.

The draft authors are L.F. Pavlenko, L.I. Korotkova, I.V. Korablina, N.I. Katalevskiy, G.V. Skrypnik, Zh.V. Gevorkyan, T.L. Klimenko, N.S. Anokhina, A.A. Larin, V.S. Ekilik, and I.A. Zubtsova. These Practice Guidelines present metrologically certified methods of analysis of the components of aquatic ecosystems, which include aquatic environment, bottom sediments and aquatic organisms (benthos, organs and tissues of commercial fish), for content of priority pollutants: heavy metals and arsenic, components of oil pollution (hydrocarbons and gum substances), paraffin and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, organochlorine pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls, anionic and nonionic surfactants, and phenols. All these methods are included in the State Register of Methods of Quantitative Chemical Analysis and Assessment of Environmental Objects, Approved for State Environmental Control. The Guidelines are meant for laboratory scientists, who perform analysis of the components of ecosystems of natural (freshwater and marine) water bodies, as well as analysis of drinking water and treated sewage effluents. The book “Algal indication of water bodies in Ukraine: methods and prospects” was published by one of members of the Editorial Board of the scientific peerreviewed journal “Aquatic Bioresources & Environment”, Professor, the Head of the Laboratory of Biodiversity and Ecology of Algae (Institute of Evolution, University of Haifa (Israel)) Sofia Barinova, in collaboration with the scientists from Ukraine E.P. Belous and P.M. Tsarenko. The first part of the book presents data on the water bodies of Ukraine and the history of the study of algae in them. The basic methods of studying and classification of water bodies are given. The main approaches to the bioindication of aquatic ecosystems using algae as an indicator are considered. Descriptions of the major bioindicator systems are presented. The examples of the use of bioindication for various types of water bodies in Ukraine are shown. Systemic ideas about the diversity of algae are addressed. Methods of environmental and floristic analysis have been optimized. The influence of environmental factors on algae biodiversity is shown. The application of some statistical methods and programs for the analysis of the mutual influence of the environment and algal communities in the water bodies is demonstrated. The possibility of assessing the state of the aquatic ecosystem by comparing the estimates for the environment and for the biotic component is also shown. Original indices and a system of environmental mapping on a catchment basin basis are represented. New approaches and examples are given for the ecological mapping of the data on the biodiversity of algae and environmental parameters in the water surface of laketype water bodies. The possibility of assessing the influence of climatic parameters on the composition and abundance of algal communities in continental water bodies of various types has been established. The second part of the book is a database of ecological preferences of algal indicators of Ukraine; it has been developed on the basis of the information collected in four volumes of “Algae of Ukraine …” and the World Database of Freshwater Algae-Indicators, developed at the Institute of Evolution, University of Haifa. Algae-indicators of Ukraine, listed in the Appendix, are represented by 3,300 taxa; the main literature sources, where the data on the ecological preferences of individual taxa were taken from and summarized, are also included there. The book is aimed at scientists, who apply the methods of bioindication in their study of environmental quality of the water bodies, to ecologists, to monitoring organizations, and to a wide range of professionals and students. The third abstract is for the Methodological Recommendations developed by the FSBSI “Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (FSBSI “VNIRO”), including the Azov-Black Sea Branch of the FSBSI “VNIRO” (“AzNIIRKH”), the Altay Branch of the FSBSI “VNIRO” (“AltayNIRO”), and the Tyumen Branch of the FSBSI “VNIRO” (the State Scientific-and-Production Center of Fishery, or “Gosrybcenter”) by a team of authors (the draft authors are L.I. Litvinenko, V.A. Bizikov, N.P. Kovacheva, E.M. Saenko, L.V. Vesnina, K.V. Kutsanov, A.M. Semik, and A.V. Parshin-Chudin). The Recommendations are aimed at the scientific research institutions working in this field that conduct monitoring and assessment of the stocks of aquatic biological resources and are authorized by the Federal Agency for Fishery to develop a forecast of their catch.

    Beschreibung: Crayfish is a valuable commercial animal that, essentially, is the only commercially-exploited invertebrate in the inland freshwater bodies of Russia. Currently, many water bodies in the Southern part of Russia (in particular, the Azov limans of the Kuban River estuary), which once proved highly productive, have lost their commercial importance in terms of crayfish harvesting; therefore, monitoring and conservation of natural crayfish populations in the water bodies of the Rostov Region are very pertinent tasks. In this work, a review of changes in the state of crayfish populations in the commercially-exploited water bodies of the Rostov Region is presented for the period from 2012 to 2018; the Don River, including the water bodies of its floodplains, the basin of the Sal River, the Ust-Manych, Veselovsk, and Proletarsk Reservoirs have been investigated. The analysis of dynamics of the main parameters, indicative of qualitative composition and quantitative characteristics of productive crayfish populations, is conducted. It was found out that crayfish stocks have the tendency for decline, which is especially pronounced in the water bodies of the Sal River Basin and in the Ust-Manych Reservoir, where, during the period of the study, the stocks have decreased from 71.8 t to 50.4 t and from 24.7 to 15.0 t, respectively. Main reasons of the decline of crayfish stocks are deterioration of their habitats and increasing illegal harvesting of crayfish. The dynamics of crayfish harvesting (catch) in the context of formal exploitation is presented. The recommendations on rational exploitation of productive crayfish populations are given.
    Beschreibung: Речные раки — ценные промысловые животные — являются фактически единственным промысловым беспозвоночным внутренних пресноводных водоемов России. В настоящее время многие ранее высокопродуктивные водоемы юга России (в частности, азовские лиманы дельты р. Кубань) утратили ракопромысловое значение, в связи с чем особо актуальной является задача мониторинга и охраны естественных популяций раков в водоемах Ростовской области. В работе представлен обзор изменений состояния популяций раков в промысловых водоемах Ростовской области — р. Дон, включая водоемы поймы, баcсейне р. Сал, в Усть-Манычском, Веселовском и Пролетарском водохранилищах — в период с 2012 по 2018 г. Проведен анализ динамики основных параметров, отражающих качественный состав и количественные характеристики ракопродуктивных популяций. Прослежена тенденция снижения запасов раков, особенно выраженная в водоемах бассейна р. Сал и в Усть-Манычском водохранилище, в которых запасы за период исследований снизились с 71,8 до 50,4 т и с 24,7 до 15,0 т, соответственно. Основными причинами снижения запасов являются ухудшение условий обитания и нарастающие масштабы незаконного изъятия раков. Представлена динамика добычи (вылова) раков организованным промыслом. Даны рекомендации по рациональному использованию ракопродуктивных популяций.

    Beschreibung: Research on sustainability transitions has expanded rapidly in the last ten years, diversified in terms of topics and geographical applications, and deepened with respect to theories and methods. This article provides an extensive review and an updated research agenda for the field, classified into nine main themes: understanding transitions; power, agency and politics; governing transitions; civil society, culture and social movements; businesses and industries; transitions in practice and everyday life; geography of transitions; ethical aspects; and methodologies. The review shows that the scope of sustainability transitions research has broadened and connections to established disciplines have grown stronger. At the same time, we see that the grand challenges related to sustainability remain unsolved, calling for continued efforts and an acceleration of ongoing transitions. Transition studies can play a key role in this regard by creating new perspectives, approaches and understanding and helping to move society in the direction of sustainability.

    Beschreibung: In der Dissertation wird eine Methodik entwickelt, welche die Berechnung des Redispatcheinsatzes im deutschen Übertragungsnetz ermöglicht. Dabei wird die Auswirkungen einer Integration der Flexibilität aus dezentralen Anlagen in das elektrische Energiesystem dargestellt. Durch die Integration von dezentralen Flexibilitäten können geringere Brennstoff- und CO2-Zertifikatskosten bei relativ konstanten CO2-Emissionen erreicht werden. Bei einem Redispatcheinsatz, welcher die Leistungserhöhung aus konventionellen thermischen Kraftwerken weitgehend vermeidet, kann bei der Berücksichtigung dezentraler Flexibilitäten bis zu 99 Prozent der benötigten Redispatcherhöhung aus konventionellen Kraftwerken mit Hilfe dezentraler Alternativen ersetzt werden. Diese Übernahme der Redispatchaufgaben durch dezentrale Anlagen ist allerdings mit einer signifikanten Erhöhung der Redispatchkosten verbunden.

    Beschreibung: New options are needed to reduce the impact of motor vehicles on climate change and declining fossil fuel resources. Cars which are fueled by hydrogen could be a sustainable method of transportation if suitable technologies can be devised to produce hydrogen in an environmentally benign manner along with the provision of the necessary fueling infrastructure. This paper assesses size, space, and cost requirements of bioreactors as a decentralized option to supply hydrogen powered cars with biohydrogen produced from algae or cyanobacteria on a theoretical basis. Decentralized supply of biohydrogen could help to reduce the problems that hydrogen cars face regarding market penetration. A feasibility study for decentralized biohydrogen production is conducted, taking the quantity of hydrogen which is needed to fuel current hydrogen cars into account. While this technology is, in theory, feasible, sizes, and costs of such reactors are currently too high for widespread adoption. Thus, more R&D is needed to close the gap and to approach marketability.

    Beschreibung: Aufgrund der perspektivisch insbesondere mit dem benötigten weiteren Ausbau der erneuerbaren Energien verbundenen weiter zunehmenden Auswirkungen der Energiesystemtransformation auf Landschaft und Ökosysteme erscheint es angemessen, dass Politik und Gesellschaft die Naturverträglichkeit der Energiewende bzw. ihrer konkreten Ausgestaltung stärker in den Blick nehmen als bisher. Denn eine angemessene Berücksichtigung und darauf aufbauende weitest mögliche Minderung der negativen Einflüsse von Energiewende-Maßnahmen auf die Natur ist aus verschiedenen Gründen von Bedeutung: Zum einen ist die gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz für das Gelingen der Energiewende entscheidend und eine weitgehend naturverträgliche Ausgestaltung der Energiewende kann diese Akzeptanz befördern. Zum anderen sind intakte Ökosysteme für das menschliche Wohlergehen von hoher Bedeutung und es kann darüberhinaus argumentiert werden, dass ihnen unabhängig vom Wert für den Menschen auch ein intrinsischer Wert zugesprochen werden sollte. (Zusätzliche) Ökosystemstörungen sollten folglich so weit wie möglich vermieden werden. Vor diesem Hintergrund hat der Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V. das Wuppertal Institut beauftragt, in dem vorliegenden Bericht mögliche Maßnahmen zu identifizieren und zu beschreiben, die sowohl wesentliche Beiträge zur Erreichung der Ziele der Energiewende leisten können, deren Umsetzung gleichzeitig aber nach derzeitigem Wissensstand keine oder nur geringe negative Auswirkungen auf die Natur hätte. Der Bericht soll dabei helfen, die Aufmerksamkeit auf gegenwärtig nicht ausgeschöpfte, von der Energiepolitik und auch von vielen vorliegenden Energiewende-Studien nicht oder wenig beachtete aber wahrscheinlich naturschutzgerechtere Klimaschutzoptionen zu richten und diese Optionen besser zu verstehen.

    Beschreibung: Um den ungebremst fortschreitenden Klimawandel zu begrenzen, ist eine stufenweise Dekarbonisierung des Energiesystems notwendig, die bereits bis zur Mitte dieses Jahrhunderts schon weitgehend erreicht sein muss. Neben Unsicherheiten gehen von der Energiewende gleichzeitig Investitionsimpulse für Innovationen aus, wobei Systeminnovationen eine zentrale Treiberfunktion zur Dekarbonisierung des Energiesystems einnehmen. Diese Arbeit fokussiert die Rolle von Innovationskaskaden in der Energiewende und analysiert die Überführung von Systeminnovationen in strategische Geschäftsmodellinnovationen vor dem Hintergrund der Frage, wie die Dekarbonisierung des Energiesystems für Unternehmen der Energiewirtschaft und THG-intensiven Industrie rentabel ausgestaltet werden kann. Die Dissertation leistet einen substanziellen Beitrag zur Entscheidungsfindung im strategischen (Innovations-)Management für Unternehmen der Energiewirtschaft und der THG-intensiven Sektoren - Bereiche, die von einem erheblichen Transformationsdruck gekennzeichnet sind. Insbesondere für Unternehmen, die bedingt durch den Wandel des Energiesystems großen Herausforderungen gegenüberstehen, leistet diese Arbeit einen Beitrag zur Ableitung neuer, nachhaltiger und ökonomisch tragfähiger Geschäftsmodelle. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Systeminnovationen Power-to-Gas (P2G) und Algae-to-X (A2X). Dabei wird der Begriff Algae-to-X erstmalig in die wissenschaftliche und praktische Diskussion eingeführt und konzeptionell fundiert. Mit einer ganzheitlichen Untersuchung der Innovationsprozesse, den damit verbundenen Chancen, Potenzialen, Unsicherheiten, Hemmnissen und visionären Zukunftsbildern von Power-to-Gas und Algae-to-X werden konkrete Handlungsansätze zur Förderung von Systeminnovationen und der Überführung in Geschäftsmodellinnovationen im window of opportunity der Energiewende herausgearbeitet. Diese Forschungsarbeit trägt zur Weiterentwicklung der wirtschafts-wissenschaftlichen Theoriebasis in den Disziplinen des strategischen Managements und des strategischen Innovationsmanagements bei: Aufbauend auf einer breiten und tiefgreifenden Analyse bestehender Ansätze wird die Bedeutung von Systeminnovationen und Geschäftsmodellinnovationen herausgestellt und die tragende Rolle des in der Theorie noch relativ jungen Konzepts der Innovationskaskaden für die Umsetzung des systemischen Transformationsprozesses der Energiewende theoretisch fundiert und empirisch gestützt. Hervorzuheben ist, dass die Unsicherheiten, die mit der Entwicklung von tragfähigen Geschäftsmodellinnovationen einhergehen, ökonomisch fundiert sind, in den Beispielen in Abhängigkeit des Neuigkeitsgrades und damit der Entwicklungsstufe der Innovationskaskade aber technologisch (A2X) bzw. regulatorisch (P2G) bedingt sind. Bei der Überführung von Systeminnovationen in strategische Geschäftsmodellinnovationen über die Ableitung von Innovationskaskaden stellt diese Arbeit zwei neue, theoretisch fundierte und empirisch überprüfte innovationsauslösende Stimuli vor: Die systeminduzierten Impulse des system-push und des system-pull.

    Beschreibung: The Port of Rotterdam is an important industrial cluster, comprising mainly oil refining, chemical production and power generation. In 2016, the port's industry accounted for 19% of the Netherlands' total CO2 emissions. The Port of Rotterdam Authority is aware that the cluster is heavily exposed to future decarbonisation policies, as most of its activities focus on trading, handling, converting and using fossil fuels. Based on a study for the Port Authority using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods, our article explores three pathways whereby the port's industry can maintain its strong position while significantly reducing its CO2 emissions and related risks by 2050. The pathways differ in terms of the EU's assumed climate change mitigation ambitions and the key technological choices made by the cluster's companies. The focus of the paper is on identifying key risks associated with each scenario and ways in which these could be mitigated.

    Beschreibung: Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12) requires sustainable production and consumption. One indicator named in the SDG for resource use is the (national) material footprint. A method and disaggregated data basis that differentiates the material footprint for production and consumption according to, e.g., sectors, fields of consumption as well as socioeconomic criteria does not yet exist. We present two methods and its results for analyzing resource the consumption of private households based on microdata: (1) an indicator based on representative expenditure data in Germany and (2) an indicator based on survey data from a web tool. By these means, we aim to contribute to monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources. Indicators based on microdata ensure that indicators can be disaggregated by socioeconomic characteristics like age, sex, income, or geographic location. Results from both methods show a right-skewed distribution of the Material Footprint in Germany and, for instance, an increasing Material Footprint with increasing household income. The methods enable researchers and policymakers to evaluate trends in resource use and to differentiate between lifestyles and along socioeconomic characteristics. This, in turn, would allow us to tailor sustainable consumption policies to household needs and restrictions.

    Beschreibung: Green Information Systems in general, and footprint calculators in particular, are promising feedback tools to assist people in adopting sustainable behaviour. Therefore, a Material Footprint model for use in an online footprint calculator was developed by identifying the most important predictors of the Material Footprint of the calculator's users. By means of statistical learning, the analysis revealed that 22 of the 95 predictors identified accounted for 74% of the variance in Material Footprints. Ten predictors out of the 95, mainly from the mobility domain, were capable of showing a prediction accuracy of 61%. The authors conclude that 22 predictors from the areas of mobility, housing and nutrition, as well as sociodemographic information, accurately predict a person's Material Footprint. The short and concise Material Footprint model may help developers and researchers to enhance their information systems with additional items while ensuring the data quality of such applications.

    Beschreibung: Urban energy systems have been commonly considered to be socio-technical systems within the boundaries of an urban area. However, recent literature challenges this notion in that it urges researchers to look at the wider interactions and influences of urban energy systems wherein the socio-technical sphere is expanded to political, environmental and economic realms as well. In addition to the inter-sectoral linkages, the diverse agents and multilevel governance trends of energy sustainability in the dynamic environment of cities make the urban energy landscape a complex one. There is a strong case then for establishing a new conceptualisation of urban energy systems that builds upon these contemporary understandings of such systems. We argue that the complex systems approach can be suitable for this. In this paper, we propose a pilot framework for understanding urban energy systems using complex systems theory as an integrating plane. We review the multiple streams of urban energy literature to identify the contemporary discussions and construct this framework that can serve as a common ontological understanding for the different scholarships studying urban energy systems. We conclude the paper by highlighting the ways in which the framework can serve some of the relevant communities.

    Beschreibung: Digitalization is a transformation process which has already affected many parts of industry and society and is expected to yet increase its transformative speed and impact. In the energy sector, many digital applications have already been implemented. However, a more drastic change is expected during the next decades. Good understanding of which digital applications are possible and what are the associated benefits as well as risks from the different perspectives of the impacted stakeholders is of high importance. On the one hand, it is the basis for a broad societal and political discussion about general targets and guidelines of digitalization. On the other hand, it is an important piece of information for companies in order to develop and sustainably implement digital applications. This article provides a structured overview of potential digital applications in the German energy (electricity) sector, including the associated benefits and the impacted stakeholders on the basis of a literature review. Furthermore, as an outlook, a methodology to holistically analyze digital applications is suggested. The intended purpose of the suggested methodology is to provide a complexity-reduced fact base as input for societal and political discussions and for the development of new digital products, services, or business models. While the methodology is outlined in this article, in a follow-up article the application of the methodology will be presented and the use of the approach reflected.

    Beschreibung: Nigeria is Africa's largest economy and home to approximately 10% of the un-electrified population of Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2017, 77 million Nigerians or 40% of the population had no access to affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity. In practice, diesel- and petrol-fuelled back-up generators supply the vast majority of electricity in the country. In Nigeria's nationally-determined contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement, over 60% of the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) reductions are foreseen in the power sector. The goal of this study is to identify and critically examine the pathways available to Nigeria to meet its 2030 electricity access, renewables and decarbonization goals in the power sector. Using published data and stakeholder interviews, we build three potential scenarios for electrification and growth in demand, generation and transmission capacity. The demand assumptions incorporate existing knowledge on pathways for electrification via grid extension, mini-grids and solar home systems (SHS). The supply assumptions are built upon an evaluation of the investment pipeline for generation and transmission capacity, and possible scale-up rates up to 2030. The results reveal that, in the most ambitious Green Transition scenario, Nigeria meets its electricity access goals, whereby those connected to the grid achieve a Tier 3 level of access, and those served by sustainable off-grid solutions (mini-grids and SHS) achieve Tier 2. Decarbonization pledges would be surpassed in all three scenarios but renewable energy goals would only be partly met. Fossil fuel-based back-up generation continues to play a substantial role in all scenarios. The implications and critical uncertainties of these findings are extensively discussed.

    Beschreibung: This paper offers a comparative analysis of small wind electrification programmes targeted at remote sheep farming households in two of the windiest regions of the world, Argentine Patagonia and the Falkland Islands/Islas Malvinas. Despite comparable environmental conditions and local livelihoods, their impact was vastly different. Insights from socio-technical systems and strategic niche management approaches offered a deeper understanding of the local context and development dynamics, facilitating the identification of the critical success factors that contributed to these two distinct outcomes and finally highlighting those that can inform the design of future such initiatives. The research is based upon a series of semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, observational field visits and review of archival sources. The critical factors identified by this case study research include strong and consistent institutional support, investment in robust equipment creation of effective feedback loops from the field and hybridisation. Additionally, a user centred approach that assesses whether small wind is really the right option for each individual household and if so, matches an appropriate energy system to their unique and evolving needs. Finally, empowering users to take on as much responsibility for maintenance as possible by integrating maintenance practices with local culture and ensuring the support of an effective decentralised maintenance network.

    Beschreibung: A significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions will be necessary in the coming decades to enable the global community to avoid the most dangerous consequences of man-made global warming. This fact is reflected in Germany's 7th Federal Energy Research Program (EFP), which was adopted in 2018. Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies used to absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere comprise one way to achieve these reductions in greenhouse gases. DAC has been identified as a technology (group) for which there are still major technology gaps. The intention of this article is to explore the potential role of DAC for the EFP by using a multi-dimensional analysis showing the technology's possible contributions to the German government's energy and climate policy goals and to German industry's global reputation in the field of modern energy technologies, as well as the possibilities of integrating DAC into the existing energy system. The results show that the future role of DAC is affected by a variety of uncertainty factors. The technology is still in an early stage of development and has yet to prove its large-scale technical feasibility, as well as its economic viability. The results of the multi-dimensional evaluation, as well as the need for further technological development, integrated assessment, and systems-level analyses, justify the inclusion of DAC technology in national energy research programs like the EFP.

    Beschreibung: Footprint calculators are efficient tools to monitor the environmental impact of private consumption. We present the results of an analysis of data entered into an online Material Footprint calculator undertaken to identify the socioeconomic drivers of the Material Footprint in different areas of consumption, from housing to holidaymaking. We developed regression models to reveal (1) the impact of socioeconomic characteristics on Material Footprints of private households and (2) correlations between the components of Material Footprints for different arrays of consumption. Our results show that an increasing Material Footprint in one array of consumption comes with an increasing Material Footprint in all other arrays, with the exception of housing and holidaymaking. The socioeconomic characteristics of users have a significant impact on their Material Footprints. However, this impact varies by the array of consumption. Households only exhibit generally bigger Material Footprints as a result of higher incomes and larger dwellings. We conclude that indicators which strive to monitor resource efficiency should survey disaggregated data in order to classify the resource use to different population groups and arrays of consumption.

    Beschreibung: Nowadays, the main impetus to apply additive manufacturing (AM) of metals is the high geometric flexibility of the processes and its ability to produce pilot or small batch series. In contrast, resource and energy intensities are often not considered as constraints, even though the turnout of additive manufacturing is high, at least compared to chip removing processes. The study at hand analyses the material characteristics and environmental impacts of a hose nozzle as an example of a commercial product of simple geometry. The production routes turning (conventional manufacturing) and laser beam melting (additive manufacturing) are compared to each other in terms of natural resource use, climate change potential and primary energy demand. It is found, that the product shows a lower demand for natural resources when produced via AM, but higher carbon emissions and energy demand when using a steel, that is mainly (80%) produced from high-alloyed steel scrap. However, different case studies during the sensitivity analyses showed that a number of factors highly influence the results: the steel source as well as the source of electricity play a major role in determining the environmental performance of the production routes. The authors also found that other production processes (here cold forging of tubes) might be an eco-friendly alternative to both routes, if feasible from an economic point of view. In regard to the material characteristics, experimental testing revealed that the material advantages of AM produced hose nozzles (in particular higher yield strength) are reduced after a solution heat treatment is applied to the as-produced material, in order to increase corrosion resistance. However, products that do not require this production step might benefit from the higher yield strength, as a lower wall thickness could be realised.

    Beschreibung: Responsible consumption and production is one of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. To achieve this goal the currently high extraction rates of natural resources, that our economy is based on, needs a transformation of the consumption and production system considering technological as well as social change. One of the promising transition approaches is seen in collaborative consumption with its many facets of socio-cultural innovations and fast growing number of participants and businesses. With a decreasing production of goods, due to a utilisation of underutilised assets, these offers might support an absolute reduction of the global resource use. However, a positive environmental effect depends on the setting and the social practices of such sharing offers and is not sustainable or resource efficient generally. Also, resource efficient practices with a low diffusion potential that stick in a niche offer no leverage to achieve sustainable consumption patterns. Thus, this paper describes a mixed method approach to analyse the resource efficiency and diffusion potential of 20 sharing offers in the area of mobility, housing & travel and everyday objects in Germany. Results show that the overall positive environmental connotation of sharing offers cannot be confirmed. We identified five clusters of offers that are all treated to be differently when it comes to deploying the positive potential and avoid unnecessary societal effort to achieve the mentioned Sustainable Development Goal.

    Beschreibung: In recent years, most countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), including Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia, have rolled out national policies with the goal of decarbonising their economies. Energy policy goals in these countries have been characterised by expanding the deployment of renewable energy technologies in the electricity mix in the medium term (i.e., until 2030). This tacitly signals a transformation of socio-technical systems by 2030 and beyond. Nevertheless, how these policy objectives actually translate into future scenarios that can also take into account a long-term perspective up to 2050 and correspond to local preferences remains largely understudied. This paper aims to fill this gap by identifying the most widely preferred long-term electricity scenarios for Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia. During a series of two-day workshops (one in each country), the research team, along with local stakeholders, adopted a participatory approach to develop multiple 2050 electricity scenarios, which enabled electricity pathways to be modelled using Renewable Energy Pathway Simulation System GIS (renpassG!S). We subsequently used the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) within a Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) to capture local preferences. The empirical findings show that local stakeholders in all three countries preferred electricity scenarios mainly or even exclusively based on renewables. The findings demonstrate a clear preference for renewable energies and show that useful insights can be generated using participatory approaches to energy planning.

    Beschreibung: Germany and Japan have both gained substantial experience with hydrogen production and applications, albeit with focus on different sectors. They also share similar drivers for hydrogen development and, of course, similar technical and economic opportunities and challenges. However, there also are relevant differences in the policy priorities and approaches. Notwithstanding differing emphases and patterns, the two countries share three main drivers for hydrogen development and deployment: climate mitigation and other environmental goals, energy supply diversification, and technological leadership. In this context, hydrogen has been identified by the German and the Japanese governments during the Energy Policy Dialogue as having potential for closer cooperation. The authors of this study provide an overview of demand-side deployment by sector (residential, transport, industry, power generation and power-to-x) for both countries, as well as of their hydrogen policy debates, key institutions, R&D programs and demonstration projects. They also present a short survey on relevant international platforms and initiatives in which Japan and Germany participate. On the basis of a meta-analysis of the role of hydrogen in 18 long-term energy system scenarios for Germany and 12 scenarios for Japan, this study draws conclusions on the possible role of hydrogen in the long term energy policy debates of both countries. Subsequently, the authors discuss sustainability criteria and certification schemes for clean hydrogen, compare the greenhouse gas intensity of different hydrogen supply chains and provide a data-based analysis to identify countries which could become important suppliers of clean hydrogen.

    Beschreibung: Diese Studie untersucht Notwendigkeiten und Möglichkeiten, Wasserstoff und Strom zu nutzen, um den Verkehrssektor in Deutschland perspektivisch zu dekarbonisieren. Basis der Untersuchung ist das Dekarbonisierungsszenario des Wuppertal Instituts von 2017, welches den Verkehrssektor Deutschlands unter der Maßgabe dekarbonisiert, dass Deutschland einen adäquaten Beitrag dazu leistet, den Klimawandel auf 1,5 °C mittlere Temperaturerhöhung gegenüber dem vorindustriellen Zeitalter zu begrenzen. Das Dekarbonisierungsszenario nimmt eine ambitionierte Verkehrswende an, um dieses Politikziel zu erreichen. Es zeichnet sich durch eine besonders effiziente Mobilität aus, indem es umfangreiche Vermeidungs- und Verlagerungsmaßnahmen vorsieht und dadurch der Energieverbrauch besonders gering bleiben kann. Dennoch werden selbst in diesem Klimaschutzszenario signifikante Mengen erneuerbaren Stroms für den Verkehrssektor benötigt. Es findet eine möglichst "direkte Elektrifizierung" statt, also ein Strombezug von batterie-elektrischen Pkw aus dem Netz, sowie über Oberleitungen für die Schiene und für große Lkw auf Bundesautobahnen. Es ist aber auch eine "indirekte Elektrifizierung" nötig, indem aus erneuerbarem Strom unter der Hinnahme von Wirkungsgradverlusten Wasserstoff (H2) und als Folgeprodukt auch synthetische Kraftstoffe hergestellt werden. Diese strombasierten Produkte werden im Dekarbonisierungsszenario für große Pkw und Lkw verwendet. Die vorliegende Studie berechnet zusätzlich den H2- bzw. PtX-Bedarf des internationalen Flug- und Seeverkehrs. Sie bestimmt außerdem das Lastprofil für eine ungesteuerte Ladung von Elektro-Pkw im Zieljahr. Die Berechnungen verdeutlichen, dass die Dekarbonisierung des Verkehrssektors in Zukunft sehr viel stärker mit dem Stromsystem wechselwirkt. Für Klimaschutz im Verkehr bedarf es neben einer drastischen Energieverbrauchssenkung und einem beschleunigten Ausbau erneuerbarer Energien auch die Infrastruktur für Strom und strombasierte Produkte.

    Beschreibung: Der Anteil fluktuierender erneuerbarer Energien im deutschen Strommix steigt. Um die Netzstabilität zu erhalten, Fluktuationen im Dargebot nach Wetterlage und saisonal auszugleichen sind absehbar ab ca. 2030 große Stromspeicherkapazitäten erforderlich. Wasser-Pumpspeicherwerke sind derzeit die einzige langjährig erprobte Technologie, die künftig in Braunkohletagebauen, welche im Zuge der Energiewende aufgegeben werden, errichtet werden könnten. Eine Überschlagsrechnung am Beispiel eines Pumpspeicherwerks in verschiedenen Tagebauen zeigt, dass diese mit bis zu 400 GWh ein signifikantes technisches Speicherpotenzial haben.

    Beschreibung: Many countries are increasingly investing in renewable energy technologies to meet growing energy demands and increase the security of their energy supply. This development is also evident in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where renewable energy targets and policies have evolved rapidly in recent years. There is a steady increase in both the number of planned and implemented solar photovoltaic (PV) but also of solar thermal projects in form of Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plants. Many of these installations are designed as large utility-scale systems. Despite the fact that these types of large-scale projects can have significant effects on local communities and their livelihoods, the existing research into the social impacts of such large-scale renewable energy infrastructures at local level is limited. However, assessing and managing these impacts is becoming increasingly important to reduce risks to both the affected communities and to the project and businesses activities. In order to provide more robust evidence on the local effects, this research study reviews the social impacts of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure in the MENA region based on a case study of the NOORo I CSP plant in Ouarzazate, Morocco. Data collected during two empirical field studies, in combination with expert interviews and secondary data analysis, provides detailed evidence on the type and significance of livelihood impacts of the NOORo I CSP plant. The analysis results in a consolidated list of 30 impacts and their significance levels for different stakeholder groups including farmers, young people, women, community representatives and owners of small and medium enterprises. The results show that, overall, the infrastructure development was received positively. The review also indicates that factors identified as having effects on the sustainability of local livelihoods are mainly related to information management and benefit distribution, rather than physical or material aspects.

    Beschreibung: In the context of the German-Korean Energy Policy Dialogue, integration of renewable power sources and smart grids have been identified as topics with high relevance. This study aims to support mutual learning and exploration of new fields for collaboration by identifying similarities and differences in the respective status quos, strategies and policies in both countries. After a short introduction to the South Korean energy situation, Chapter 2 provides an overview of the South Korean power market, its situation regarding renewable power sources and the Korean definition of smart grids. Chapter 3 of this study highlights the major South Korean energy strategies and regulatory frameworks relevant to integration of renewable energies and smart grids. In Chapter 4, the status and perspectives of renewable energy sources integration and smart grids in South Korea are discussed, presenting various demonstrative examples, new business models and the current situation of technology deployment. Chapter 5 puts South Korea in the global context and compares it to Germany. Finally, Chapter 6 draws conclusions and presents recommendations on suitable areas for mutual learning.

    Beschreibung: Unter den Stichworten "Sektorenkopplung" und "Power-to-X" werden derzeit viele Möglichkeiten der direkten und indirekten Elektrifizierung großer Teile der Endenergienachfrage intensiv diskutiert. In diesem Zusammenhang hat die Diskussion um Wasserstoff als Endenergieträger sowie als Feedstock für die Herstellung von synthetischen Kraftstoffen und chemischen Grundstoffen zuletzt stark an Bedeutung gewonnen. Insbesondere der klimaneutrale Umbau der Grundstoffindustrien und hier vor allem der Grundstoffchemie und der Stahlindustrie würde bedeutende Mengen an grünem Wasserstoff benötigen, die räumlich stark auf die großen Industriekerne fokussiert wären. Ein zeitnaher Einstieg in die Schaffung entsprechender Erzeugungskapazitäten und Infrastrukturen könnte dazu führen, dass Wasserstoff - neben erneuerbaren Energien und Energieeffizienz - zum dritten Standbein der Energiewende avanciert.

    Beschreibung: Weltweit trägt die Industrie direkt und indirekt etwa über ihren Bezug von Strom und Wärme rund 30 bis 40 Prozent zu den Treibhausgasemissionen bei. Auch in Deutschland liegt ihr Beitrag in einer ähnlichen Größenordnung1. Dabei sind insbesondere die Grundstoffindustrien (Stahl, Zement, Grundstoffchemie, Glas, Aluminium, Papier und andere) besonders energie- und emissionsintensiv. Gleichzeitig basiert der Energieeinsatz dieser Industrien bisher noch überwiegend auf fossilen Energien (und Müll). Zu den energiebedingten Emissionen kommen prozessbedingte Emissionen hinzu, die sich bei den heute üblichen Verfahren selbst bei Einsatz vollständig "grüner" Energien nicht vermeiden lassen. Grundstoffindustrien stellen Materialien für die Herstellung und Verarbeitung von Produkten zur Verfügung. Sie sind daher kein Selbstzweck, sondern tragen letztlich damit dazu bei, vielfältige Bedürfnisse abzudecken.

    Beschreibung: Innerhalb des Kopernikus-Projekts "Synchronisierte und energieadaptive Produktionstechnik zur flexiblen Ausrichtung von Industrieprozessen auf eine fluktuierende Energieversorgung" - kurz SynErgie - erheben Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler das Flexibilisierungspotenzial von Industrieprozessen und versuchen die Machbarkeit an Schlüsselprozessen zu demonstrieren. Die technischen Herausforderungen und Lösungsoptionen, die sich in den Prozessen der Grundstoffindustrie - wie etwa Stahl, Chemie, Zement, Glas und Feuerfest - ergeben, haben sie bereits in einem ersten Band "Flexibilitätsoptionen in der Grundstoffindustrie: Methodik, Potenziale, Hemmnisse" ausführlich beschrieben und auf Basis einer eigens entwickelten Methodik analysiert. Der Fokus des vorliegenden zweiten Bandes liegt auf den Flexibilitätsperspektiven, die sich durch hybride Wärmebereitstellung, den Einsatz thermischer Energiespeicher und der Nutzung synthetischer Gase in den entsprechenden Branchen ergeben können. Hierzu erweiterten die Forschenden die bereits im ersten Band entwickelte Methodik um die relevanten Aspekte der Gasversorgung und thermischen Speicherung. Anhand von konkreten technischen Beispielen aus den Branchen stellen sie darin die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten und ein gegebenenfalls daraus folgendes Flexibilitätspotenzial dar und diskutieren dies.

    Beschreibung: China's regular energy statistics does not include the building sector, and data on building energy demand is included in other types of energy consumption in the Energy Balance Sheet (EBS). Therefore data on building energy demand is not collected based on statistics, but rather calculated or estimated by various approaches in China. This study aims at developing and testing China's building energy statistics by applying an adapted EBS. The advantage of the adapted EBS is that statistical data is from the regular statistical system and no additional statistical efforts are needed. The research result shows that the adapted EBS can be included in China regular energy statistical system and can be standardized in a transparent way. Testing of the adapted EBS shows that China's building energy demand has shown an annual increase of 7.6% since 2001, and a lower contribution to the total energy demand as compared to the developed world. There is also a close link to lifestyle and living standard while industrial energy demand is mainly driven by economy and decoupling of building energy demand with increasing of building floor area, this is due to a considerable improvement of building energy efficiency. The adapted EBS creates a method for China conducting statistics of building energy consumption at the sector level in a uniform way and serves as the basis for any sound building energy efficiency policy decisions.

    Beschreibung: Ziel dieses Teilvorhabens innerhalb des FlexGeber-Projektes war die Initiierung und Begleitung eines Prozesses zur Identifikation und (idealerweise späteren) Realisierung von Effizienz-, Erneuerbaren- und Flexibilitätspotenzialen in den Industriebetrieben Taifun-Tofu GmbH (Lebensmittel) und Hermann Peter KG (Baustoffe). Dazu haben die Forschenden jeweils in einem Workshop relevante Akteure zusammengebracht und Wissen zur Bestimmung und Bewertung von Flexibilitäten aus technischer, rechtlich-politischer sowie strukturell-organisatorischer Sicht erarbeitet und vermittelt. Gemeinsam klärten sie, welche Informationen in welchem Format für Unternehmen erforderlich und relevant sind, um Flexibilitätsoptionen identifizieren und umsetzen zu können. Insgesamt gliedert sich die methodische Vorgehensweise in vier zentrale Arbeitsschritte: Vor-Ort-Begehungen bei den Reallaboren, Identifikation technischer Hotspots, Akteursworkshop sowie abschließende Auswertung. Der vorliegende Teilbericht dokumentiert diesen Prozess und fokussiert auf die Identifikation von möglichen Effizienz-, Erneuerbaren- und Flexibilitätsoptionen und der Erfassung von Hemmnissen, die einer Umsetzung von Maßnahmen zur Erschließung der Potenziale bei den Praxispartnern entgegenstehen. Da die Workshops vornehmlich auf die Unternehmen Taifun-Tofu und Hermann Peter ausgerichtet waren, fokussiert dieser Bericht auf Hemmnisse, die diese Unternehmen bzw. Unternehmen dieser Branchen betreffen. Darüber hinaus ist ein Kapitel zu Hemmnissen, die sich aus dem Demonstrationsvorhaben des Fraunhofer ISE-Campus (Ausbau des Kältenetzes und Installation von Kältespeichern) ableiten, ist in diesem Bericht enthalten.

    Beschreibung: Stock assessment of Urmia Lake Artemia between 2000-2001 revealed intense decreasing cysts and biomass compared the previous years. Reducing annual rain falling from 32 to 18 cm in west Azarbayjan province lowered fresh water entrance from 4 billion m3 to 1.8 billion m3 to the lake as in 2001 the water volume reached to 6 billion m3 . Decreasing more than 2 billion m3 water volume of the lake per year with increasing the evaporation rate and existence of 5 billion tons salt inside the lake increased water salinity from 17% (1999) to 23.3% (2001) with max- min range of 250-258 ppt without any differences between the seasons. Mean transparency measured with Sechi disk was 138 cm (maximum 215 in Autumn and minimum 51 cm in Spring). Annual mean of water temperature 15 with fluctuation of 6 in winter to 22.13 in Autumn. this study, Artemia (different life stages) and phytoplankton were sampled by planktonic net from 12 suit stations which were selected from 36 sites used in previous Artemia stock assessment project done by Gent University, 1995. Phytoplankton sample identified and counted using identifying key and microscopic study. Results showed that in winter, the number of cysts per cubic meter 756 (minimum) and 2015 (maximum) in Autumn, with annual mean of 1000.m-3. Minimum 0.7 g.m-3 biomass wet weight (without cysts) were obtain in winter while the maximum (9.22 g.m-3) was in spring. The numbers of different nauplii stages per cubic meter with range of 0.03 in winter to 9.22 in spring( mean of 2.46) and juvenile stage per cubic meter were between 0.05 in winter to 1.16 in spring( mean= 0.66). It's showed higher percentage of larval stages in spring toward to higher juvenile and adults stages in summer to mid-autumn. Only Dunaliella and Nitzschia were identified but Dunaliella was dominated ( 95% of total identified phytoplankton with higher abundance, 31000 cells.L-1 in spring season(especially in May and June). Total biomass concluding cysts in studied year was 2700 tons( 30 tons cysts and 2670 tons other biomass which with 10% harvestable biomass,3 tons cysts and 267 tons other biomass could be harvested without any diverse effects on Artemia stock. Cysts and biomass were found more in central to southern part of the lake . The best season for cysts harvesting were Autumn follow by Spring and for biomass harvest were Summer follow by Autumn.

    Beschreibung: Length composition data from monthly catches of Scomberomorus commerson landed in Choebdeh and Hendijan fish landing places in Khuzestan Province, north Persian Gulf, were collected from 2004 to 2005. We used the data to estimate growth parameters and mortality coefficients of the fish. Response surface analysis produced by the ELEFAN program provided a complete set of Von Bertalanffy growth parameters estimation. We found L infinity =120cm (fork length), K=0.49per year and t sub(0)=-0.11 year for the fish. The length-weight relationship was estimated as W=0.022tL super(2.7575) with r super(2)=0.978S. Based on the calculated b, we conclude that the fish has an isometric growth pattern. The total, natural and fishing mortality coefficients were estimated as, Z=1.58, M=0.58 and F=1.0, respectively. Exploitation ratio (E) for this species was estimated as 0.63 per year. The E-value indicates that the kingfish in this part of the Persian Gulf has been overexploited. Current fishing pattern in the Khuzestan province shows that 97.07% of the cumulative length frequency and 78.18% of the cumulative weight frequency of the landed fish are under standard size. Results of this study indicate that exploitation of kingfish does not follow an optimum trend and if this trend continues, the stock of Scomberomorus commerson in this area will be threatened.

    Beschreibung: This paper aimed to investigate the fishery and biological characteristics of anchovy Kilka in Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea from 2005-2007, including length and age structure ,Von Bertalanffy growth parameters, length and age at first capture, condition factor, sex ratio, natural and fishing mortality. The examination of catch data approved that Kilka population in the Caspian Sea have been declined a few years ago following entrance jellyfish Ctenophora Mnemiopsis leidyi. The greatest destruction of anchovy kilka catch was occurred while the catch of anchovy from 4250 tonnes in 2005 reached to 924 tonnes in 2007. The results showed that K value and L∞ calculated 0.375/year, 131.7mm, respectively. The instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality was estimated 0.49/year.The instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality and total mortality was 0.51 /year and 1/year, respectively. The Exploitation rate was calculated as 0.51. The length and age ranges restricted comparison to last decade and sharply decreased recruitment. In the past few years, the main reasons of disintegrates among anchovy Kilka stocks in the Caspian Sea were synchronized overfishing competitive anchovy Kilka with M. leidyi.

    Beschreibung: Macrobenthic organisms that live in constantly disturbed high-energy sandy substrata, have evolved specific morphological and equally important behavioural features for them to flourish (Ansell and Trevallion, 1969). Species of the tropical mollusc family Donacidae, are well known to exploit the swash and the backwash to keep within the zone of breaking waves in order to feed on the sparse nutrients held briefly in suspension by them (Ansell, 1981). These filter-feeding clams inhabit sandy beaches along the Indian coast, including the Indian Island (Rao and Dey, 1986, 2000). The members of the genus Donaxarean abundant component of the intertidal fauna in many parts of the world (Coe, 1953; Laudien et al., 2003; Herrmann et al., 2009). Growth checks can be caused by high seas, inhibition of growth at low or high temperature, attacks by predators, physical disturbances, pollution and spawning events (Lutz and Rhodes, 1980; Wilbur and Owen, 1983), and can be periodic (an effect of tides, lunar months or seasons), or irregular (due to random events such as cyclones) (Jones, 1981).

    Beschreibung: We report on results of a trawl survey to assess the abundance of Batoid fish resources in the Oman Sea. The catch per unit area CPUA as the main index was estimated. The objectives of this study were to determine the catch composition and distribution pattern of Batoid fishes in the study area and in different depth strata of the Oman Sea.A total of 82stations were randomly selected 2012. The comparison between 5 strata indicated that, the highest CPUA was found for strata E, Beris to Gowatr (2712.56 kg / nm2) and C, Gordim to Konarak (2079.17 kg / nm2) and the lowest one was found in stratum B, Darak to Tang (27.11 kg / nm2). Also the comparison of mean CPUA in different depth-layers revealed that the mean CPUA has a descending trend with increasing of depth, in which the CPUA values in depth layer 10-20 m were 101.38 times more than depth layer 50-100m.

The catch of golden mullet in 2001 and 2002 was estimated 4218 and 6183 tonnes.that about 29%-38% of the catch of this species was undersize .The biomass of golden mullet estimated about 16400 tonnes. The small nose mullet in 2002 comprise 9% of mullet catches. The catches of common carp in Anzali region was very low .but stocks of this species in Gorgan region is in better condition which.Most of catches of this species were fished illgally in the Gorgan bay and Gomishan coastal creek. The biomass of this species was estimated 1140 tonnes Most of catches of the roach.were fished illgally .Totall catches of this species in 2002 were estimated about 738 tonnes. The catch of pickperch in 2002 were estimated about 30 tonnes.Most of the chatch of pickperch was immature and undersize. Appooximattelly all of the catch is due to releasing of fingerling of this species by fishery company. Totall catch of bream in 2002 was estimated 38 tonnes that most of which was immature and undersize.

    Beschreibung: The aim of this study was to report the size structure of finescale razorbelly minnow, Salmostoma phulo in the Payra River, Southern Bangladesh, based on length-frequency distribution (LFD), sex ratio (SR), length-weight relationships (LWR), length-length relationships (LLR), condition factors (allometric KA; Fulton’s, KF; relative, KR and relative weight, WR) and form factor (a3.0). A total of 306 individuals ranging from 6.00–10.70 cm in total length and from 1.26-9.20 g in body weight were collected using traditional fishing gear from January 2014 to November 2014. The overall sex ratio of the species did not reveal significant variation from the expected value of 1:1 (χ2 =0.32, p〈0.05). The allometric coefficient b calculated for the LWR based on various dimensions indicates both sexes grew allometrically (negative for males: b〈3 and positive for females: b〉3). Moreover, the values of b for LWR, LLR and condition factors did not differ significantly (p〉0.05) between the sexes of S. phulo. The estimated value of WR was very close to 100 indicating the balanced habitat with available food relative to the presence of predators. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first inclusive and comprehensive explanation on the size structure of S. phulo from Bangladesh and it should be crucial for the sustainable management of this SIS fishery not only in southern coastal waters of Bangladesh but also in all of its geographical distributions including India and Myanmar.

For most years during this 10-year period, we estimated the age structure of the catch, length-weight relationship, von Bertalanffy growth parameters, condition factor, sex ratios, maturity stages determined from ovarian analysis, natural and fishing mortality, age at first capture and biomass. Growth parameters were estimated as L¥=132mm, K=0.259/yr, t0=-1.285/yr. The instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality was estimated at 0.506/yr and the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality varied during the 10-year period between 0.125/yr to 1.487/yr. Biomass of the common kilka increased from about 16,000mt in 1995 to more than 41,000mt in year of 2002. This increase in common kilka was simultaneous with a sharp decline in anchovy kilka, changes in zooplankton abundance and composition, and especially increase in zooplankton species used by common kilka. We concluded that at the present time, the stock of common kilka is being over-fished.

    Beschreibung: Fish assemblage was investigated during the study of longitudinal profile of the Ehania River Basin in south-eastern Côte d’Ivoire. This area is subjected to intense human activities with many plantations (palm tree, banana, pineapple, coffee, rubber and cocoa). Samples were collected, with gillnets of different mesh sizes, through 6 sampling surveys during dry and rainy seasons from February 2010 to December 2010 at 6 sampling sites. A total of 70 fish species belonging to 48 genera, 28 families and 10 orders were recorded. The temporal variation of diversity index is less marked than spatial variation. The upstream, with 35 species, was less rich in species than the medium area and downstream areas (respectively 46 and 68). The upstream and downstream areas gathered 35 species. Thirty three species were common to the upper and middle areas and 46 species appeared both in the lower courses and the middle area. The 21 species restricted to the lower part of the river are mainly estuarine/marine origin. The beta diversity value revealed low similarity between the lower and upper course of Ehania River. The lowest values of Shannon’s diversity index and equitability index were observed in the middle part of the River which characterized by high population density and intense agricultural activity with many plantations.

    Beschreibung: Length frequency data of the longtail tuna, Thunnus tonggol collected from October 2006 to September 2007 were analyzed for evaluation of the stock parameters. T. tonggol is mainly caught by gillnet method. Yearly tuna and tuna-like catches in Iran are of the order of 174,234 mt, close to 46% of which are longtail tuna. The VBG parameters for longtail tuna were: L∞ =133.72cm K=0.35 year−1.The length –weight relationship was estimated as: W=0.00002 L 2.83.The instantaneous rates of total mortality (Z) was estimated by using the Powell-Wetherall plot as 1.82 year−1. The instantaneous rate of natural mortality was obtained by Pauly equation (M=0.44 year−1) and the instantaneous rate of fishing mortality (F) estimated from Z-M=1.38year−1.

    Beschreibung: The freshwater spiny eel, Macrognathus pancalus is an inland water teleost fish commonly known as barred or striped spiny eel found in Asia. The sampling areas were selected which are spatially and geographically different and characterized by different environmental conditions in order to elucidation of ecotype. A total 345 specimens were collected from the sampling sites during January 2008 to December 2010. The weight of M. pancalus in the present study nearly the cube of its length in all cases as the values of regression coefficient ‘b’ were found to be close to 3. The length weight relationship indicated the isometric growth in all the samples of striped spiny eel collected from different environmental condition. The coefficient of regression ‘b’ were more in the riverine population (3.17±0.08) as compared to the populations of a large lake i.e. Beel (2.85±0.13). The coefficient of determination, (r2) in all the cases was highly significant (p〈 0.001). The relative condition factor (Kn) were also calculated and the average of condition factor in riverine and beel populations of spiny eel were found to be 0.50±0.09, and 0.47±0.05, respectively. The length-length relationship was highly correlated (r2= 0.99 at P〈0.0001) for all the individuals of both habitats. A significant size difference was also noted between the river basin populations of M.pancalus. In the present study the length-weight, length-length relationship of M.pancalus in two different river basins was compared.

    Beschreibung: This study was carried out during May 2010 – April 2011 in order to determine various biological properties of red mullet occurring in the Eastern Black Sea region. The average length and weight of 1435 specimens were determined as 13.13 cm and 23.14 g, respectively. Weight-length relationship was determined as W = 0.0088 L3.0338. The age distribution of this population ranged between I and VII. The female constituted of 66.2% whereas male 33.8%. Von Bertalanffy growth equation was , whereas for weight was . The GSI index reached its maximum value in June when relative fecundity was 2529.6 eggs g-1 body weight and the average egg size was 360.9 μm. The fecundity-total length and fecundity-weight relationships were calculated as F= 0.0651 TL5.1297 and F= 338.5W1.5128 , respectively.

    Beschreibung: Age and growth of Bigeye Kilka, Clupeonella grimmi, were studied in Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea from early May 2006 to April 2007. The sagitta otoliths were removed for each 5 mm length interval up to a total number of 262 fish. Fork length and weight ranged from 92.5 to 142.5 mm and 4.2 g to 23.4 g, respectively. The largest length-groups was observed from December to February and the lowest in April, which was coincided with spawning period and feeding during wintering, respectively. The overall sex ratio (male:female) was 0.33:1 which differed significantly from the expected ratio of 1:1. The length-weight regression was W= 0.0000744 FL3.14 for females and W=0.0000341FL3.16 for males, indicating the Caspian Bigeye grew isometrically for both sexes. Age determination based on otoliths readings showed that the population was composed of six- groups from 2 to 7 years old which observed a rapidly growth during the second year. In the age compositions, the four years old specimens with a mean fork length and weight 115.5±7.8 mm and 11.9 ± 2.8 g were the most abundant age group and accounted for 40.1%. The condition factor was 0.7-0.8 which varied in difference months and coincided to the gonad development. Age-at-length data were used to determine von Bertalanffy growth parameters for this population in both sexes, indicating that K value and L∞ of females was more than that of males. The results showed that C. grimmi is a rapidly-growing species in the southern parts of the Caspian Sea.

    Beschreibung: The marine survey for sturgeon stock assessment was conducted to estimate the abundance of each species, total abundance and their percentage composition.In this study, a sample of 5 stations from the four fishing Golestan province which since 1380, the Iranian Fisheries as fisheries was done selected. Sampling was carried out using the gillnet. The sampling in 2011, 247 specimens including 105 A. persicus specimens, 14 A. guldenstaedti, 44 A. stellatus, 71 Huso huso and 13 A. nudiventris were caught. In 2012, of 281 specimens, 143 A. persicus, 8 A. guldenstaedti, 19 A. stellatus,19 Huso huso and 52 A. nudiventris were caught. Species composition in 2011, including 42 percent of A. persicus, 6 percent of A. guldenstaedti, 18 percent A. stellatus, 29 percent Huso huso and 5 percent A. nudiventris. In 2012, Species composition, including 59 percent of A. persicus, 3 percent A. guldenstaedti, 8 percent, A. stellatus, 22 percent Huso huso and 8 percent was A. nudiventris. The average length of A. persicus in 2011, 162.62±19.8 cm, A. guldenstaedti 149.45±16.26 cm, A. stellatus 126.4±17.42 cm, Huso huso 167.69±60.72 cm and A. nudiventris 139.06±12 cm. In 2012, the average length of A. persicus and A. guldenstaedti to the 144.55±42.12 and 145.8±13.92 cm. The average weight of A. persicus in 2011, 22.38±8.57 gr, A. guldenstaedti 19.24±6.55 gr and A. stellatus 8.70±2.76 gr. In 2012, the average weight of A. persicus 18.66±11.43 gr and A. guldenstaedti 20±7.08 gr. The catch per unit effort (CPUE) in 2011 sampeling, equivalent to 5.23 and sampling in 2013 was equivalent to the 5.73.

    Beschreibung: The sailing tracks of single otter trawl vessels were simulated using cubic hermite spline (cHs) interpolation method based on the automatic identification system (AIS) data of 6 sampled vessels that were fishing in the Zhoushan fishing grounds after the close of the fishing season from September 2012 to January 2013. The vessels’ status (i.e. whether the vessels were fishing or not) were determined based on the integrated information of speed method and the simulated tracks. Generalized additive model (GAM) was built according to the logbook data of the 6 vessels in 2010, and then the GAM was applied to the AIS data of the same 6 vessels from September 2012 to January 2013 to estimate the monthly catches of these vessels in this period. The results show that the error of the simulated tracks increase with the increase in time interval, and the time interval of AIS data should be shorter than 30 minutes to prevent low accurate results. GAM can give viable estimates of catches when they do not greatly fluctuate over years. The step-by-step GAM analyses indicate that the factors, which affect catch, are ordered by their importance as date, sea surface salinity (SSS), latitude, sea surface temperature (SST), sea surface height (SSH) and longitude. This research is a new attempt for the study of fisheries resources in China using new data sources, which will be helpful for the improvement of fishery research in such data-poor countries as China.

    Beschreibung: Data used in this publication is a part of a comprehensive study was carried out jointly between South Aquaculture Research Center (SIARC) and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) on silver pomfret (Pampus argenteus) in 2003 to 2005. The study was aimed to collect efficient data from two regions from biological and population parameters of this economically important fish to properly explain its stock situation and ultimately leads to improve a better management program for conservation of stock and yield sustainability. Monthly data collection on length and biology, started since May 2003 and ended by December 2005. Shrimp trawl and gill nets were used for sample collection from the predicted areas in both sea regions. FL of the fish was within the range of 12-34cm, with the dominant length of 18-25cm in Kuwaiti waters. In Khouzestan waters fork length was ranged 14-22cm for the years of 2003 and 2004 but 14-26cm for 2005. Strong relationship between length and weight in both countries with a scanty difference was observed for this species (R2 =0.989 for Khouzestn, R2=0.947 for Kuwait). The findings of present study are suggesting that silver pomfret is following an allometric growth pattern in studied area. Spawning of silver pomfert begin in July and continue till October in Kuwaiti waters but in Khouzestan waters the heights spawning of this fish started in end of May till October. Length at first maturity of this species in the studied area of Kuwait was found to be 19.6cm FL based on Spearman-Karber method but 23.3cm (FL) based on the logistic model. The parameter was estimated 20.0 cm (FL) in Khouzestan waters according to the logistic model.

    Beschreibung: Species composition, relative abundance, absolute abundance and biomass of sturgeon species were studied during the years 2008-2009. Eighty five stations were covered in the stratified random sampling design in depths less than 10m using 9m bottom trawl (head line) and in depths more than 10m using 24.7m bottom trawl (head line). More than 70 specimens of Acipenser persicus were caught during the effort. CPUE decreased from 0.4 to 0.24 specimens per trawl in 2009. The mean total length of the A. persicus was 47.3 plus or minus 29.1cm and 61.9 plus or minus 28.7cm in 2008 to 2009, respectively. The smallest size of A. persicus was 9cm in 2008 and 24.5cm in 2009, while the maximum size was 102.5cm in 2008 and 126.5 plus or minus 29cm in 2009. The mean total weight in 2009 in comparison with 2008 increased from 989(3-5000g) to 1569(42-7100g). Absolute abundance of A. persicus decreased from 2006000 specimens in 2008 to 1192000 specimens in 2009. The estimated biomass was 2010 and 1878 tons in 2008 and 2009, respectively. According to the results of study, the stock status of A. persicus is highly critical in the Caspian Sea and a timely decision has to be taken for conservation of the species.

    Beschreibung: Caspian Kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum) is one of the most important commercial bony fishes in Iranian coastal waters of the Caspian Sea that constitute more than 50% of the total annual catch of the bony fishes. In the fishing season of 2003-2004, 5 mobile working groups gathered biometry data in the regions Anzali, Kiashar, Noshahr, Babolsar and Torkmen. Catch statistics of bony fishes was gained from fishing and landing harbors. Total catch of the commercial bony fishes was estimated at 15.5 thousand tons from which the Kutum amounted to 8477 tons, 45.5% of the total. Also, catch of the bony fishes of beach seine cooperatives was estimated at 10667 tons where the Caspian Kutum comprised 5180 tons (48.65%). The catch per unit effort (CPUE) of the Caspian Kutum amounted to 93.3 kg/set with the highest value recorded in Noshahr and the lowest amount observed in Anzali and Kiashahr regions. The mean fork length of the species was 36.7 plus or minus 6.1cm showing a range of 21 to 69cm. The mean age was measured as 3.82 plus or minus 1.37 years with the range of 1 to 8 years. The age groups 3, 4 and 5 years old comprised 87% of the total catch age composition. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters such as L infinity , k and t sub(0) were determined as 70.1cm, 0.138/year and -1.557 years, respectively. Total mortality, natural mortality and fishing mortality rates of the species were estimated at 1.1/year, 0.28/year and 0.83/year, respectively (considering a surface water temperature of 14 degree C). The biomass of the fish was estimated at 25 thousand tons.

    Beschreibung: Shadegan wetland is located in the southwest of Iran and consists of three parts water: Fresh water, tidal-coastal zones and salt water. Climate is warm and dry. Although Surface of Wetlands is different seasons, but the study area is approximately 126945 hectares. Water quality in Shadegan Wetland is brackish water to salt and the hardness of the water component is hard to classify. The BOD5 of water is shows relatively clean to be suspicious. Values of pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, nitrite, phosphate, ammonia and TSS than the previous year are decreased and in this study salinity has increased electrical conductivity, total hardness, TDS and nitrate. In this study have been identified 42 genuses of phytoplankton in four groups: Bacillariophycea (diatoms), Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Dinophyceae that's diatoms are the most dominant. Also 24 genuses of zooplankton have been identified in four groups: protozoa, Rotifer, Copepod and Cladocera that are rotifer are the most dominant. Doraq and Atish stations have the most of abundance of plankton. Phytoplankton biodiversity is greatest at stations Rgbh and Atish. The average annual primary production 610 gC/m2 /year and its placed the middle class on fertility. Average annual primary production in the phytobenthose 486 gC/m²/year and the average monthly range of chlorophyll a and primary production 0.54-11.65 mg/m² and 0.1-3.45 gC/m²/day respectively. The amount average chlorophyll a is greater in Gargar, Maleh and Rgbh stations. The size of the wetland sediments had not important role in the phytobenthose production. The survey identified that 14 groups of macro benthic that’s Chironomidae families have the highest frequency. The highest and the lowest frequency in Atish and Doraq stations respectively. In the all stations have high SiltClay and organic matter in sediments is more in Maleh station from other areas. Macro benthos of the Rgbh and Atish stations more presents of the larvae that’s resistant to pollution of Chironomidae. Assessment of fish stocks of the common carp pond shows that the highest biomass (52.63 kg per hectare) and lowest Shiq fish (0.33 kg per hectare). The highest biomass are in autumn (337.17 kg per hectare) and lowest in summer (83.19 kg per hectare) and the average amount of biomass in total during the year were calculated 197.57 kg per hectare Shadegan Wetland. The amount of fish is obtained about 2.62 in Shadegan, which indicates the moderate wetland condition. The most of species spawning season are overlapped with each other, which occurs in winter and spring. The length - weight of fish indicating their growth is isometric.

Total catch of Caspian Kutum was estimated 8477 tons that had 2500 tons decrease with comparison of the last year. Biomass of Caspian kutum in Iranian coastal Water of the Caspian sea in 2003 2004 estimated about 25000 tons. The catch of pick perch in 2003 2004 decreased with comparison of the last year and estimated about 38 tons from which 15 tons were caught by beach seine cooperatives . Most of the catch of pick perch was immature and undersize. Approximately all of the catch is due to releasing of fingerling of this species by fishery company. Totall catch of bream was estimated 26.3 tons from which 15.4 tons were caught by beach seine cooperatives . Most of which was immature and undersize.

    Beschreibung: Demersal resources in the Gulf of Oman are one of the main objectives for both industrial and traditional fisheries. In order to implement a rational management of these resources; the research project of “stock assessment of demersal resources in the Gulf of Oman” were carried out as a monitoring survey in 2003 The objectives of project were: 1) Identification of catches composition of demersal fishes 2) To estimate the biomass and CPUA of demersal resources 3) To determine the distribution pattern of commercial fishes 4) To determine the ratio of commercial, non-commercial fishes and amount of bycatches The studied area was restricted to the borderline with Pakistan in Gwatr (61 25 E) in the east and strait of Hormuz (57 00 E) in the west and isobath of 100m in the south, covering depths of 10 to 100 m with a total area of 1700 nm2. The R/V Ferdows-1, a stern trawler equipped with a fish bottom trawl was used for sampling. To collect the catch data, 107 stations were selected in a random stratified design distributed in different depths and area. The total area was stratified to 7 primary strata, and 4 different sublayers of 10-20, 20-30, 30- 50 and 50-100 m. The swept area method was used to assess and estimate the amount of biomass and CPUA (catch per unit of effort). The total catch was classified to 3 main groups of: a) The commercial demersal fishes, b) The non-commercial demersal fishes c) The non-demersal group The total biomass of all groups was estimated 88346 tons of which 52478 tons belonged to jellyfishes. In this year there was an unpredictable and high bloom of jellyfishes scattering in all area of the Gulf of Oman. The total biomass of fishes was estimated 35808 tons of which 19391 tons were commercial fishes. Meanwhile the amount of non-commercial fishes was calculated about 15102 tons.

    Beschreibung: The nauplii of Artemia urmiana was enriched with oxolinic acid and the accumulation rate of this antibacterial drug in different times and dosages was determined. The nauplii which were hatched out of cysts from Urmia Lake's Artemia were incubated in the antibiotic/ seawater suspension with dosages of 25, 50, 75 and 100mg/l of oxolinic acid, in intervals of 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours. All factors including salinity, pH, aeration, dosage and enrichment time were kept the same for all treatments. Each treatment was repeated three times. After enrichment, the concentration of oxolinic acid per sample was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). One way ANOVA and Duncan's tests were implemented to analyze the data.

    Beschreibung: During executing stock assessment of Mesopelagic fishes project in the Iranian part of Oman Sea, some physico-chemical parameters were studied surveyed area located between 22 ֯ , 44' - 25 ֯, 33' N Latitudes and 57 ֯ , 04' -61 ֯, 31' E Longitudes. Data collected in 3 months (June, Oct. 1993 and Feb. 1994) in this study, pH, Salinity, dissolved oxygen and water temperature measured from surface to 400m depth. The results showed that thermal condition of this part of Oman Sea was stable in the warm months, and the seasonal thermocline occurred between 10-60m depths. Amount of dissolved oxygen below 50m depth regarding to it 's minimum rate (1 mg/L) showed that the suitable circulation was not exist in this time of year, pH and Salinity had a little decrease from surface to depth but some stations showed variable salinity.

    Beschreibung: Three mesh sizes of multiflament trammel nets (22 mm, 24 mm, and 26 mm) were used in Finike bay for red mullet (Mullus barbatus L., 1758). The sampling program was arranged during February to May 2012. Holt (1963) method was used for selectivity of trammel nets. Red mullet was the dominant species in 22 mm mesh size at 52.86%, followed by 25.7% with the 24 mm net and 21.43% with the 26 mm net. On the basis of the results of this study, optimal selectivity lengths of multiflament trammel nets estimated for red mullet were 18.58, 20.27, and 21.96 cm for 22, 24, and 26 mm mesh size, respectively. Thus, based on length at first maturity it has been stated that the trammel nets of 22, 24, and 26 mm mesh size do not cause over fishing of the red mullet population in Finike Bay.

    Beschreibung: Feeding behavior in Acipenser persicus and Acipenser stellatus in summer and winter was studied from 2004 to 2006 simultaneously with the marine survey for sturgeon stock assessment. Bottom trawls (9m) on board the research vessel Sisara 2 (50 hsp) were used to collect specimens at depth below 10m, while specimens at depths more than 10m were collected using bottom trawls (24.7m) on board the Guilan Research Vessel (1000 hsp). Examination of stomach contents of 135 A. persicus and 80 A. stellatus specimens revealed that the food spectrum was composed of bony fishes (Neogobius sp., Atherina sp., Clupeonella cultriventris), invertebrates belonging to the family Ampharitidae (polychaeta worms including Hypanai sp. and Nereis diversicolor), various crustaceans (Gammarus sp. and Paramysis sp.) and the bivalved mollusc, (Abra ovate). Significant differences were detected in the frequency of prey items in the different seasons studied. Also significant differences (P0.05).

    Beschreibung: The present study was carried out on the basis of data collected from the catch of beach seine operating in the southern coast of the Caspian Sea for two species carp (Cyprinus carpio) and roach (Rutilus caspicus) in 2015 – 2016. Besides, the changes in patterns of recruitments were evaluated on the basis of the historical catch statistics and the released number of the two species which taken from the G.D office of Golestan province. The age structure and length-frequency distribution of the two species were determined. The largest catches of carp and roach belongs to the age groups (5, 6 and 1, 2) year olds, respectively. In order to estimate the growth pattern of the two species, the length-weight relationships were determined. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters (L∞, K and t0) and mortality were calculated by the ELFFAN I method using FiSAT program for two species. The von Bertalanffy growth equation obtained was Lt=75. 72 (1-e (-0. 12 (t+0. 5)) in 2015 and Lt=72. 75 (1-e (-0. 13 (t+0. 26)) in 2016 for carp and Lt=30. 82 (1-e (-0. 27 (t+1)) in 2015 Lt=24. 92 (1-e (-0. 5 (t+0. 35)) in 2016 for Roach. The estimates of von Bertalanffy growth parameters were compared with the carp populations in other areas. The total coefficient of mortality (Z) using the linear curve method of fishing was estiamted 1. 3 years for carp and 0.86 for roach in both years. The natural mortality (M) using the Pauli experimental formula was calculated 0.23 years in 2015 and 0.24 years in 2016 for carp and 0.5 years in 2015 and 0.46 years in 2016 for roach. The biomass of two species carp and roach was estimated 96.7 and 68.4 tone in 2015 and 4.8 and 21.8 tone in 2016, respectively.

    Beschreibung: The survey was conducted during 2010 and 2011 on the banana prawn stocks in Sirik to Dargahan in Strait of Hormoz. Samples was taken by bottom trawl boats monthly. Growth in the prawns (male and female) was allometric and length of maturity in female was 31.7 (mm CL). Spawning season was occurred in winter from Jan to March. Growth parameters (K, L_∞) were 1.6 y^-1 and 49 (mm CL) for female and 1.9 y^-1 and 38 (mm CL) for male respectively. Instantaneus mortality rate (M, F and Z) calculated 2.6, 1 and 3.6 y^-1 for female and 3.1, 1.4 and 4.5 y^-1 for male respectively. Banana shrimp recruited at to fishing ground in Jun and Jul. Opening time for starting catch at 2010 was calculated at 28/09/2010 and total allowable catch was 1380 tones. At 2011 starting catch was calculated at 29/09/2011 and total allowable catch was 1480 tones. Time for end of catch season were stimated at 04/11/2010 and 21/11/2011 for each year. According to yield per recruit model, the best size of the banana prawn was 30 (mm CL) for female.
