    Notes: Summary A control experiment, performed independently by three separate mass-spectrometric systems, demonstrates that precision-mass measurements can be carried out with commercially available instruments with sufficient accuracy to obtain the elemental composition of a sample.

    Description / Table of Contents: Arsine Pentacarbonyl Complexes of Chromium(0), Molybdenum(0) and Tungsten(0)Preparation, i.r., 1H-n.m.r. and mass spectra of the diamagnetic, sublimable, yellow arsine pentacarbonyl complexes Cr(CO) 5AsH3, Mo(CO)5AsH3 and W(CO5AsH3 are reported. Properties of AsH3 as complex ligand are discussed and compared with those of PH3 and As(C6H5)3. Cr(CO)5SbH3 and Fe(CO) 4AsH3, confirmed only by mass spectrometry, are mentioned.
    Notes: Über Darstellung, IR- und 1H-NMR- sowie Massenspektren der diamagnetischen, sublimierbaren, gelben Arsin-pentacarbonyl-Komplexe Cr(CO)5ASH3, Mo(CO)5AsH3 und W (CO)5ASH3 wird berichtet. Die Eigenschaften von AsH3 als Komplexligand werden diskutiert und mit denen von PH3 und As (C6H5)3 verglichen. Das vorerst nur massenspektroskopisch gesicherte Cr(CO)5SbH3 und Fe(CO) 4AsH3 werden erwähnt.

    Description / Table of Contents: Complexes Between Metals and Aromatic Compounds, CXII. Cyclopentadienylcycloheptatrienyl π-Complexes of Molybdenum(0) and Tungsten(0), their Monovalent Cations and a Cyclopentadienylbenzenetungsten(II) HydrideThe synthesis of the diamagnetic, sublimable five-ring seven-ring aromatic metal π-complexes of molybdenum C5H5Mo0C7H7 and tungsten C5H5W0C7H7 via the systems MoCl5/i-C3H7MgBr/C5H5MgBr/ether or WCl6/C2H5Li/C5H5Li/C7H8/ether is described. Both compounds react in benzene with a deficite of iodine to give the paramagnetic monoiodides [C5H5MIC7H7]+I-(M = Mo, W). A new procedure is given for the preparation of C5H5MoIC6H6. Finally experiments to prepare diamagnetic C5H5WIIHC6H6 via the system WCl6/i—C3H7MgBr/C5H5MgBr/1.3—C6H8/ether are reported.
    Notes: Die Synthese der diamagnetischen, sublimierbaren Fünfring-Siebenring-Aromaten-Metall-π-Komplexe des Molybdäns C5H5Mo0C7H7 und Wolframs C5H5W0C7H7 mittels der Systeme MoCl5/iso-C3H7MgBr/C5H5MgBr/C7H8/Äther bzw. WCl6/C2H5Li/C5H5Li/C7H8/Äther wird beschrieben. Beide Verbindungen reagieren in Benzol mit J2 im Unterschuß zu paramagnetischen Monojodiden [C5H5MIC7H7]+J-(M = Mo, W). Ein neues Verfahren zur Darstellung von C5H5MoIC6H6 wird angegeben. Abschließend wird über Versuche zur Darstellung von diamagnetischem C5H5WIIHC6H6 im System WCl6/iso-C3H7MgBr/C5H5MgBr/C6H8-(1.3)/ Äther berichtet.

Methyl(methoxy)- and Phenyl(methoxy)carbene Complexes of Ditechnetium Decacarbonyl and Dirhenium Decacarbonyl, a Phenyl(methoxy)carbene Complex of Manganese Rhenium Decacarbonyl, and the Manganese Pentacarbonyl RadicalRe2(CO)10 and Tc2(CO)10 react with organolithium compounds according to Subsequent methylation with [(CH3)3O]BF4 yields the stable, diamagnetic, binuclear carbene complexes (CO)9M2C(OCH3)R (2ac-2bd). n̈CO absorptions indicate that the methyl(methoxy)- and phenyl(methoxy)carbene ligands are in equatorial position. In the system MnRe(CO)10/LiC6H5/[(CH3)3O]BF4 the formation of (CO)9MnReC(OCH3)C6H5 was demonstrated by mass spectrometry besides (CO)9Mn2C(OCH3)C6H5 and (CO)9Re2C(OCH3)C6H5. By e.s.r. spectroscopy paramagnetic Mn(CO)5 radicals were shown to exist not only in sublimed (CO)9Mn2C(OCH3)R (R = CH3, C6H5) but also in sublimed Mn2(CO)10.
    Notes: Re2(CO)10 und Tc2(CO)10 reagieren mit Organolithium-Verbindungen nach Durch anschließende Methylierung mit [(CH3)3O]BF4 werden die stabilen, diamagnetischen, zweikernigen Carbenkomplexe (CO)9M2C(OCH3)R (2ac-2bd) dargestellt. Nach ihren n̈CO-Banden liegen die Methyl(methoxy)- und Phenyl(methoxy)carben-Liganden in äquatorialer Position vor. Im System MnRe(CO)10/LiC6H5/[(CH3)3O]BF4 ließ sich massenspektroskopisch die Bildung von (CO)9MnReC(OCH3)C6H5 neben (CO)9Mn2C(OCH3)C6H5 und (CO)9Re2C(OCH3)C6H5 nachweisen. Mittels ESR-Spektroskopie konnten sowohl in sublimiertem (CO)9Mn2C(OCH3)R (R = CH3, C6H5) als auch in sublimiertem Mn2(CO)10 paramagnetische Mn(CO)5-Radikale nachgewiesen werden.

Thiocarbenepentacarbonyl Complexes of Chromium(0) and Tungsten(0)(Methylmethoxycarbene)pentacarbonylchromium(0), (phenylmethoxycarbene)pentacarbonylchromium(0), and (methylmethoxycarbene)pentacarbonyltungsten(0) react with thiols as follows: Nucleophilic substitution of the methoxy group gives the corresponding thiocarbenepentacarbonyl complexes of chromium and tungsten, (CO)5MC(SR')R (1-7). The position of the vCO-bands of shortest wavelength, the energy barrier for rotation about the carbene carbonsulphur bond, the ionisation potentials, and the dipole moments of the thiocarbene complexes demonstrate that, in respect of their effective ligand→metal→CO charge transfer capability, the thiocarbene ligands lie between the alkoxy- and aminocarbene ligands.
    Notes: Methylmethoxycarben-pentacarbonyl-chrom(0), Phenylmethoxycarben-pentacarbonyl-chrom (0) und Methylmethoxycarben-pentacarbonyl-wolfram(0) reagieren mit Thiolen gemäß unter nucleophiler Substitution der Methoxygruppe zu den entsprechenden Mercaptocarben-pentacarbonyl-Komplexen von Chrom(0) und Wolfram(0), (CO)5MC(SR')R (1-7). Die Lage der jeweils kurzwelligsten vCO-Bande, die Energiebarriere für die Rotation um die Carbenkohlenstoffatom-Schwefel-Bindung, die Ionisierungspotentiale und die Dipolmomente der Mercaptocarben-Komplexe beweisen eine Mittelstellung der Mercaptocarben-Liganden zwischen den Alkoxy- und Aminocarben-Liganden hinsichtlich ihrer effektiven Ladungsübertragungsfähigkeit Ligand → Metall → CO.

    Description / Table of Contents: Ion-Molecule Reactions of Organometallic Complexes, IV. Ion-Molecule Reactions of (Cyclopentadienyl)nitrosylnickel with σ- and π-Donors in the Gas PhaseUnder suitable measuring conditions binuclear secondary ions appear in the mass spectrum of C5H5NiNO. If several σ- or π-donor molecules L are present, additional ion-molecule reactions occur with formation of the ions C5H5NiL+ as well as of fragments derived from these. Even with inert compounds like n-hexane or cyclohexane reactions are observed by which the ions C5H5Ni(hexene)+ and C5H5Ni(cyclohexene)+ respectively are formed. The relative cross-sections of the ion-molecule reactions as well as the appearance potentials of several secondary ions have been measured and interpreted.
    Notes: Unter geeigneten Meßbedingungen treten im Massenspektrum von C5H5NiNO zweikernige Sekundär-Ionen auf. In Gegenwart verschiedener σ- oder π-Donatoren L finden zusätzliche Ion-Molekül-Reaktionen statt unter Bildung der Ionen C5H5NiL+ sowie davon abgeleiteter Fragmente. Selbst mit inerten Verbindungen wie n-Hexan oder Cyclohexan werden Reaktionen beobachtet, wobei die Ionen C5H5Ni(Hexen)+ bzw. C5H5Ni(Cyclohexen)+ entstehen. Die relativen Wirkungsquerschnitte der Ion-Molekül-Reaktionen sowie die Auftrittspotentiale einiger Sekundär-Ionen wurden gemessen und interpretiert.
