    Description: A completely randomized design, with 3×3 factorial arrangement, was conducted to test various ratios of dietary protein to energy (P/E) for rainbow trout, reared in brackish water. Three crude protein levels (35, 40 and 45%) and three energy levels (370, 400 and 430 Kcal/100g) at each protein level were utilized. Semi-purified diet containing fish meal, casein and gelatin as the sources of protein and dextrin, starch and oil as the sources of energy was used. Each experimental diets was fed to triplicate groups of 20 fish with average weight of 81.5g, in nine 2000 lit flow through fiberglass tanks, each partitioned into three sectors. Average water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and EC were between 15±20C, 6.5-8.1 mg/L, 7.7-8.6 and 25400 µm/s, respectively. Fishes were fed for 84 days at a rate between 1.6-2% of body weight per day, in three equal amounts, adjusted bi- weekly. At each protein level, weight gain (WG%), average daily growth (ADG%), protein efficiency ratio (PER), apparent net protein utilization (ANPU%), specific growth rate (SGR) and condition factor (CF) increased, but feed conversion ratio (FCR) decreased with increasing energy level from 370 to 430 Kcal/100g. The highest growth performance was obtained by fishes fed by 35% protein, 430 Kcal/100g energy diet with P/E ratio of 81.4 mg protein/Kcal energy. Carcass fat and moisture were affected by dietary protein and energy levels, whereas, carcass protein and ash levels were similar between dietary treatments.

    Description: In order to does this study, 150 Persian sturgeons having 75g mean weight transferred to 500 liter tanks. After dividing the fishes into two groups (experimental and control), the fingerlings fed by concentrate food that contained different levels of Zataria multiflora essential oil (15, 25, 50, 100 g/kg) for 8 weeks. Finally, sampling carried out on blood and serum of fishes. After preparing the samples based on standard methods, hematology and serology studies, performed. The results showed significant difference in mean of monocytes between experimental and control groups (P〈0.05). In treatment 25g/kg, monocyte count was more than other treatments. But there were no significant differences in mean and standard deviation of other white blood cells. The results of serologic studies showed no significant differences in serum indices (C3, C4 and total protein) (P〉0.05), but there is significant difference in mean and standard deviation of albumin. So that, the average in treatments 15 and 25g/kg and control group was more than treatments 50 and 100g/kg of Zataria multiflora essential oil.

    Description: Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) females grow larger and mature later than males, making all-female stocks economically advantageous. The objective of this research was to develop methods for the production of monosex populations of trout through the use of sex steroids. The synthetic estrogen ethynylestradiol-17α (EE2) was administered in single period-immersion treatment of 400 µg/l for 1, 2, 4 and 8 h to groups of newly-hatched sac fries of rainbow trout and in a 30 day dietary treatment of 5, 10, 15 and 20 mg/kgf of newly swum up fries. 73.4 And 94.5% females were obtained with 1 and 2-h single-immersion of EE2 respectively (38% female in control). However, higher doses progressively reduced the survival drastically. Sex ratios of dietary treatment of fry were 60, 57.4, 78 and 94% females respectively. Treatments also resulted in a slight increase of both weight and length. This increase was related to the method of hormonal exposure (dietary 12 〉"〉 immersion), but not dosage-dependent for utilized hormone. This demonstrates that the direct feminization of rainbow trout can be achieved and resulted in sex reversal ratio effectively but not decreased the growth, as observed in hormonal sex reversed females, and it would be a noticeable approach to the direct feminization of trout.

    Description: In this research, growth rate, blood parameters and proximate composition of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) cultured in brackish and freshwater were evaluated. Two treatments (brackish and freshwater) in 3 replications were investigated. Six 1.5 m³ fiberglass tanks were used for this experiment, containing 180 rainbow trout specimens with average weight of 47.2±0.1g. Feeding rate in treatments was about 3% of body weight based on water temperature and fish biomass. Total length and weight of fish were measured in 15 days intervals. After 135 days of culture period, some fish samples were transferred to the Lab. Blood were directly collected from the heart. Muscle composition was analyzed for proximate composition. The results showed that the body weight of samples in brackish water was increased significantly after 45 days of culture period. Blood factors including WBC, RBC, Hb, Hct, MCV, MCH, MCHC, lymphocyte, thrombocyte and concentration of K+ ions in fish cultured in brackish water showed a significant increase (P〈0.05). Muscle composition analysis showed a significant increasing (p〈0.05) in fat and dry matter in freshwater treatment, while moisture was significantly higher in brackish water (P〈0.01)

    Description: This research was done in a trout farm in Kohkiloyeh and Boyer- Ahmad province. The main object of this study was comparing of two sources of astaxanthin (synthetic or algae) in feed on astaxanthin content of egg in rainbow trout. It was considered seven groups consisting six treatments (T1-T6) in two different astaxanthin sources and a control (C) (without astaxanthin). So, algal astaxanthin (haematococcus pluvialis) in the three levels of 2.67, 3.55 and 8gr/kg food (T1,T2, T3); and synthetic astaxanthin in three levels of 40, 80 and 120mg/kg food in diet (T4, T5, T6) examined on 140 trout broods (3-4 years) for 4 months, before the spawning season. Astaxanthin content of obtained eggs from all treatments in spawning season was measured by HPLC apparatus. The highest and the lowest amount of egg astaxanthin were observed in T3 and C respectively. In each astaxanthin group, a significant difference was obtained between averages in treatments (P 〈0.05), as T3 was the highest between them. No significant difference was observed between synthetic astaxanthin treatments (T4, T5 and T6) and T1 (the lowest level of algal astaxanthin). Treatments T2 and T6 also had the same function in term of saving astaxanthin in eggs. It also concluded that natural astaxanthin (Haematococcus pluvialis) for the reason that contains supplementary nutritious, is extraordinary preferable than synthetic astaxanthin to improve astaxanthing content of egg in rainbow trout.

    Description: In present research, effect of dietary astaxanthin levels in sources of synthetic and algal on vitamins A and E content of egg rainbow trout broodstock was investigated, totally for 120 days. It was considered seven groups consisting six treatments (T1-T6) in two different astaxanthin sources and control (C). According to experiment design, treatments were arranged as algal astaxanthin (Haematococcus pluvialis) in the three levels of 2.67, 3.55 and 8gr/kg food (T1, T2, T3); and synthetic astaxanthin in three levels of 40, 80 and 120mg/kg food (T4, T5, T6). Egg vitamins A and E content in obtained eggs from all treatments during spawning season was measured. The highest (280.88± 22.51 ng) and the lowest (147.82± 12.71ng) amount of vitamin A were observed in T2 and control group, respectively. The highest (19.71± 2.92µg) and the lowest (5.27± 0.51µg) amount of vitamin E were obtained in T3 and control group, respectively. By increasing level of astaxanthin in both sources of algal and synthetic, content of vitamin E in egg increased but the effect of algal source on these indices was more perfect. In general present study show that, feeding broodstock affected on quality content of egg, It also concluded that natural astaxanthin (Haematococcus pluvialis) for the reason that contains supplementary nutritious, is extraordinary preferable than synthetic astaxanthin to improve vitamins content of egg in rainbow trout.

    Description: This study was conducted in two phases on sturgeon larvae and fingerlings produced from artificial breeding of five pairs of the Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) broodstocks in Shahid Beheshti Hatchery in spring and summer 2006. Initially, 600 larvae were collected on 3 post days hatching (pdh) and 5 days after the onset of exogenous feeding. The second phase was conducted with 450 specimens collected from five earthen ponds, which included 150 larvae collected one week after stocking, 150 fingerlings collected 20 days after stocking and 150 fingerlings collected at the time of their release into rivers. No parasite was observed in the sturgeon larvae on day 3 pdh and 5 days after the onset of exogenous feeding. However Trichodina reticulata were observed in the larvae in the first week (prevalence = 10 - 20%) and also in the fingerlings (prevalence = 10 - 46.67%) 20 days after they were transferred to the earthen ponds. At the time of their release into the river, in addition to T. reticulata (prevalence = 13.33 – 100%) a digenean trematode, Diplostomum spathaceum, (prevalence = 6.67 - 30%) was also observed in the sturgeon fingerlings. It is evident from the present study that Trichodina and Diplostomum infection occurs after fingerlings are released into the earthen ponds and gradually increases with the progress in the rearing period. Increase in prevalence of Trichodina infection through the rearing period can be explained by the increase in water temperature and increase in dissolved organic matter in the ponds which provide the desirable conditions for the propagation of this unicellular ciliate. Significant differences were observed in the mean intensity of T. reticulata infection in sturgeon fingerlings during different stages of rearing into earthen ponds (P〈0.05).

    Description: Effect of different feeding levels on water quality, growth performance, survival rate and body composition of Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei post larvae were studied in zero water exchange system. Shrimp post larvae with mean weight of 74.46± 6.17 mg were fed for 32 days in 300L fiberglass tanks containing 130L water at density of 1 post larvae L^-1. There were five treatments including control and four biofloc treatments with different feeding levels of 15%, 15%, 12%, 9%, 0% of body weight per day, respectively. The results showed that there were no significant differences in water parameters such as dissolved oxygen and pH between different treatments (p〉0.05). There were significant differences in water ammonia level between different treatments (p〈0.05). The maximum (0.39 mg/L) and minimum (0.12 mg/L) levels of ammonia were observed in control and biofloc treatment with minimum feeding level (9%BW/day), respectively. The highest body weight gain (1.55g), growth rate (48.50 mg per day), specific growth rate (9.64%/day), biomass gain (182.1g) and body length increase (33.62mm) were observed in biofloc treatment with maximum feeding level. The highest feed conversion ratio and the lowest feed efficiency were obtained in control (p〈0.05). The proximate body composition analysis revealed an increase in lipid, protein and ash in biofloc treatments. Results showed that using biofloc technology can decrease water exchange amount and improve feed utilization in nursery culture of Pacific white shrimp. Moreover, presence of biofloc improved the water quality which led to the enhancement in growth performance in nursery stage of shrimp.
