Voltammetric Investigation of the Complex Formation of Iron(III) and Iron(II) with Iminodiacetic Acid (IDA)The formation of 1:1 and 1:2 complexes of iron(III) and iron(II) with the threedentate ligand IDA is studied by cyclic voltammetry at a stationary platinum electrode. Voltammograms recorded at increasing pH value and growing ratio ligand to metal ion give evidence of the preferred complex formation of IDA with FeIII compared to FeII. The as yet unknown complex formation constant of FeIII(IDA)2- is determined. Furthermore, a cis/trans-isomerization of the complex FeIII(IDA)2-is detected.

Die stufenweise Bildung der 1:1- und 1:2-Komplexe von Eisen(III) und Eisen(II) mit dem dreizähnigen Chelatliganden IDA wird mittels Cyclovoltammetrie an einer stationären Platin-Elektrode untersucht. Bei zunehmendem pH-Wert und steigendem Konzentrationsverhältnis Ligand/Metallion aufgenommene Voltammogramme verdeutlichen die bevorzugte Komplexbildung von IDA mit FeIII und die vergleichsweise schwache Komplexbildung mit FeII. Die bisher unbekannte Bildungskonstante von FeIII(IDA)2- wird bestimmt. Weiterhin berichten wir über eine cis/trans-Isomerie des Komplexes FeIII(IDA)2-.
