The treatment of several branched methylchlorooligosilanes (Si4, Si5) with diethylamine leads to a partial or complete substitution of the chloro substituents for diethylamino groups under formation of the first known (diethylamino)-methylchlorooligosilanes containing more than two Si atoms. The condensation of (Et2N)2MeSi—SiMeCl(NEt2) (1d) with Li in THF yields the linear tetrasilane (Et2N)2MeSi—SiMe(NEt2)—SiMe(NEt2)—SiMe(Et2N)2(2a).The NMR investigations provided information of the general shift ranges of several Si units in (diethylamino)-methylchlorooligosilane systems as well as the number of stereoisomers of the prepared products.
