Phosphonium Metalates, V. Carbonyl(hydrido)(η5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)(trimethylphosphane)iron(II): Preparation and Reaction with Trimethyl(methylene)phosphoraneThe iron hydride C5Me5(CO)2Fe—H (2) is obtained by the reaction of Na[Fe(CO)2C5Me5] (1) with acetic acid. 2 is converted in the presence of trimethylphosphane to C5Me5(CO)(Me3P)Fe—H (3), which reacts with the ylide Me3P=CH2 to give C5Me5(CO)(Me3P)Fe—Me(4) and Me3P via the intermediate formation of the phosphonium salt Me4P[Fe(CO)(Me3P)C5Me5] (5).
