    Description: In 2017, the UNESCO General Conference adopted the Strategy for Action on Climate Change (SACC) which outlined UNESCO’s four-point strategy to support Member States adapt to climate change and mitigate its effects on their citizens and territories over the period 2018-2021. As the Strategy comes to an end, the Organization has commissioned an evaluation to assess its effectiveness and determine whether it should be renewed. Owing to its careful alignment with existing international reference frameworks in the area of climate change, in particular the 2015 Paris Agreement, the Strategy has successfully positioned UNESCO as a contributor in this field and the Organization’s insights on climate change within the framework of its specific areas of expertise is valued by partners and Member States alike. In the 3 years of the Strategy’s existence, the Organization produced knowledge products and undertook multiple interventions, especially targeting UNESCO’s priority groups (Africa, women, indigenous peoples, SIDS, youth) and ensuring their involvement in policy development and trainings. However, it is difficult to measure the effects of these activities or even attribute their results to the SACC specifically. Indeed, while the SACC has had the merit of giving UNESCO the political legitimacy and strategic guidance to act on climate-related issues, most of these activities were embedded in UNESCO’s existing programmes and have been largely reported against the different Major Programmes’ and IOC’s expected results. This is further amplified by the lack of a dedicated budget to implement the Strategy, which has led to an overreliance on ad hoc fundraising efforts to attract extrabudgetary resources and diverging implementation strategies depending on local context and Sectors’ priorities. Although the SACC aimed to encourage greater in-house cooperation to achieve its objectives, the evaluation found that, despite the existence of a large cross-sectoral Task Team, the SACC has failed to fully foster intersectoriality. As a result, whilst UNESCO has registered significant achievements and made important contributions, its action on climate change has not necessarily been cohesive.

    Description: In 2017, the UN General Assembly declared the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). It has entrusted IOC-UNESCO with the design and delivery of the Decade to ensure that ocean science is indeed underpinning sustainable ocean management and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda more broadly. Fulfilling its mandate as trustee of the Ocean Decade, as well as delivering on a growing list of additional roles, in an oceanographic space that is both expanding and increasingly crowded, establishes an important opportunity but also an overarching challenge for IOC-UNESCO. In the context of the upcoming UN Decade of the Ocean, the IOC-UNESCO agreed with the Internal Oversight Service (IOS) on the merit of conducting an evaluation of its strategic positioning within the UN system and the broader landscape of ocean-related actors and programmes, taking into account relevant enabling policy frameworks to which the work of the Commission responds.

    Description: Since the 1990s UNESCO has been a leading UN Organization in Bioethics and Ethics of Science and Technology. It developed a number of international normative instruments, which were adopted by expert advisory bodies and became the basis for two global capacity building programmes (Assisting Bioethics Committees (ABC) and Ethics Education Programme (EEP)) that are managed by Headquarters and implemented with the support of Field Offices. This evaluation examined how the Organization’s Bioethics and Ethics of Science and Technology Programme had been designed and implemented during 2010-2016, as well as the results achieved with the aim of suggesting improvements. The evaluation found that past and current normative work continues to drive the programme. UNESCO also provides a global forum for reflection on Bioethics and Ethics of Science and Technology through its advisory bodies, though the working methods of the latter require review. Its capacity building programmes are relevant, but not sufficiently demand-driven and require different delivery modalities. The Organization’s partnerships in the field are underutilized and their full potential not yet realized.

    Description: The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO) has functional autonomy within UNESCO. It is the only UN body specializing exclusively in ocean science, ocean observation, ocean data and information exchange and dedicated ocean services such as Tsunami Early Warning Systems. In 2019, UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission was tasked to lead the UN Decade of the Ocean. This opportunity, combined with a fast-evolving ecosystem of international actors in an expanding and increasingly crowded ocean policy and marine science space, prompted IOC-UNESCO to request an evaluation of IOC-UNESCO with a focus on its strategic positioning within the UN system and the broader landscape of ocean-related actors and programmes to meet the high demand for sound ocean science in an oceanographic space. The evaluation found that IOC-UNESCO is a valued partner for Member States as well as other international and national actors, and indispensable for strengthening capacities and providing the data and technical information on ocean science policy that serves as a basis for national level data. IOC-UNESCO has been most successful in providing contributions to UN Frameworks and Conventions (e.g. UNFCCC, Sendai and CBD), in acting as a neutral platform to discuss the increasingly relevant issue of ocean health and climate change, in bringing Member States together and fostering exchanges between governments and scientists, as well as in providing to the extended oceanographic community access to data, information and science. However, strategic advocacy at the national level, engagement at the regional level, and resourcing and visibility of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the ocean space within and outside IOC-UNESCO are among the areas where further improvements are required. The establishment of the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development is the most important strategic institutional achievement of IOC-UNESCO in recent years. It is an important opportunity, but the absence of a clearly defined results framework and inadequate resources could jeopardize its success. Furthermore, it still needs to be determined how to best exploit IOC-UNESCO’s data and knowledge base and how UNESCO can best support the Decade, among other through intersectoral work.

    Description: Kilka fish oil contains the same types of compounds present in other edible fat and oil,their impurities are removed or reduced for use in many food application, therefore kilka oil is produced by wet - rendering process which involve cooking the fish, liquid fraction passed through decantor to seperate the solid fraction and water, treatments such as degumming,alkali refinning, bleaching and deoderising have been carried on crude oil , The refined oil are hydrogenated resulting in a hard fat with a number of desirable characteristics. The final analysis of different kilka oil such as colour, melting point, refractive index , wet,impurities, Iodine value, Anisidine number, soap, Totox number, acid value, Iron, Copper,Nickel, total microbial count, Coliforms, E.coli, Salmonella, Aspergillus and the organoleptic parameters showed that kilka oil can be made suitable for use in many food application if the solid fraction is seperated immediately after pressing Therefore the obtained kilka oil using traditional method is not suitable for human consumption. The results obtained from this project comparing to the previous literatures showed hardened kilka oil in the melting point of 32.5-34 c, refractive index of 1.4657, Iodine value of118 has the best quality and propertics. As a conclusion by a combination of old processes and new concepts kilka oil is not only another competitive food oil but also a family of products with unique composition for today consumer.

    Description: Trimming means is cutting fillet for a better shape , packing and marketing . The objective of this study was comparing trimming by hand and machinery from Silver Carp fillet. The aims of this project introduce best type of fillet trimming and machine for Silver Carp fillet. For first time we measured percentage different organs like head , skin, tails, intestine organs , type of bone and fillet in whole fish before and after cutting , filleting and trimming . The results show percentage of waste in trimming by machinery line processing was less than handing , and fillet trimming speed by hand was most than machinery. Also final results of this study show machinery method or complex of handing and machinery for Silver Carp fillet trimming are best.

    Description: In this study, measurement of freshness fish tilapia species) Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) by Quality Index method in whole fish in the 4 treatments and fillets in 6 treatments intended purpose of this research is to measure the qualitative factors (sensory , chemical and microbiological evaluation) and the ratio of 3 to 1 (Ice - fish) ice cover was (mean temperature in fish during the study period between 0.1 ± 0.05 to 0.2 ± 0.1 ° C) were kept at cool temperatures for 10 days for the measure fillet Recently, 100 fish (50 pieces, 50 pieces of black and red) and washed her head and tail, the skin and the fillet 30 for each treatment in each treatment 3 Normal packing, vacuum and modified atmosphere (Tilapia fillets treated for red and black tilapia fillets 3 treatment) with an average weight of 114.5 ± 22.50 grams packed and refrigerated at 3 ° C was maintained. The results showed maximum retention time for fish stomachs empty and whole fish respectively was 9 and 7 days. Also for tilapia fillet freshness in 3 different packaging and stored at -3 °C , showed fillet packaged in MAP ,has the most lasting , and results by the analysis Statistical was significant .

    Description: Since the first time the project of processing the flesh of cultured Sturgeon carryout in IRAN, we have required to primary data about various organs weightpercent features, the percent of Eatable fillet, Food value, rigor mortis time, theresistance of fish in brown tank in handling conditions to 1:2(ice - fish) andsubsequently sampled fillets are investigated in freezing storage conditions in chillroom, also we studied on a new kipper product and the quality of the smokedsamples evaluated. The results showed in H.huso the rigor mortis starts 7h aftercatching and continues for 5h , but in cultured A.persicus rigor mortis start 3hafter catching and continues for 4h (at 20-24 co ). The analysis of food value showed that the protein content in cultured H.huso andA.persicus was 17.29 and 17.5 percent recpectively and fat content in H.huso andA.persicus was 3.1 and 2.5 percent respectively. The eatable fillet content in cultured H.huso and A.persicus was 59 and 47 percentrespectively. Length of fillet in H.huso was 60 cm and fillet width in the biggest andsmallest part was 15 and 4 cm respecively .In A. pesicus fillet length was 54cm. Andfillet width in the biggest and smallest part 13 and 3 cm respectively and thethickness of fillet in H.huso and A.persicus was 2 and 1.6 cm respectively . The quallity evaluation (chemical experiment) of stored samples in the browntank with ice to 1:2 from zero phases by 144h (6 days) indicated that in optimalconditions the cultured A.persicus conserved by 120h but this time in H.husoreached to 144h. Also the results of microbiocal experiments of the samplesshowed afew colonis (1- 2) in total count. The quality evaluation (chemical, microbiocal and organoleptic experiments) inwhich carried out on the fillet and kipper product for 6 months showed that all thecharacteristies of the mentioned products were compatible with standard andapplication of the new and modern packing technology can enhance the added ofproducts.

    Description: Effects of S. cerevisiae on immune parameters of the L. vannamei after 14 days of S .cerevisiae feeding were evaluated in this study. For this purpose a total of 300 pieces of shrimp with an average weight of 30 to 35 grams were selected from a pool shrimp Abadan CHOEBDEH. After making sure the health, absence of necrosis on the surface of the body, cuts antenna, shrimp were transferred to the center of BANDAR IMAM Research Station. Adaptation was carried out for 3-5 days. After the adaptation, shrimps were screened for virus (WSSV, TSV, MBV, HPV, YHV, BP, IHHNV and IMNV) and vibrio bacteria.After screening shrimps divided to two groups with three replication (including 50 pieces of shrimp in triplicate). The experimental diet has the commercial shrimp composition ,but 2 g of S. cerevisiae substituted 2 g of fish meal. Shrimp of first group (T1) for 14 days with food containing nutritional yeast and shrimp in second group (T2) were fed with normal diet without yeast. After 14 days Immune Factors and survival rates in both groups were evaluated. The results showed that the relative survival rate between the two groups showed no significant difference. But Immune Factors (THC, TPP, PO, POD and SOD) in the treatment fed yeast (T1) compared to control treatment (T2) showed a significant increase. In conclusion these results suggest that the increased survival rate and resistance of shrimp after S. cerevisiae consumption occurs through immune modifications, such as increases in THC, TPP, SOD, SOP and PO activity.

    Description: The present survey was conducted for evaluation of environmental impacts of shrimp farm effluents in Tiab district of Hormozgan province. During the growing season of 2003(Jul-Dec) water and sediment samples have taken with monthly intervals from inflow and outflow of the farms and related coastal waters adjacent to Tiab estuary. The samples were carried to the laboratory for physical, chemical and biological analyses. The results showed that the farms exert significant influence on humidity of surrounding air. Furthermore most of the measured parameters such as pH, salinity, BOD5, COD, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, TP, total phytoplankton and zooplankton numbers in water column and the percentages of the TN of sediments of the outflow waters were adequately higher than inflow water, but reverse results were measured for oxygen content of the water and total macrofauna numbers. There were no any significant differences between inflow and outflow channels in the case of temperature and TN of the water. In the statistical analyses, station effect only showed significant influences on variation of zooplankton numbers, TN, COD and salinity of the water and the percentage of sediment total organic compounds. The results also showed that during the growing season in the surveyed channels the most values of water and air temperature, air moisture, salinity and COD decreased, but in contrast the magnitude values of pH, BOD5, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, TP and total phytoplankton and zooplankton numbers increased during the same time. The month effect significantly influenced the preceded noticed parameters, but had no significant effect on variation of other parameters such as: TN and total macrofauna of the water column and percentages of total organic compounds and nitrogen of the sediment. The results showed that there were no significant differences between the surveyed channels and coastal waters in the case of measured values of water and air temperature, pH and oxygen content. Higher total phytoplankton numbers were measured in the coastal waters, but most of other surveyed parameters were high in the channels. In the coastal waters the variations of most measured parameters were managed by winds and the related waves and turbulences, so water exchange with Tiab estuary had no significant effect in this respect.

    Description: In the present study, the impacts of various concentrations of Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) on Beluga, Huso huso, under controlled conditions were investigated. Belugas (120±10 g) were fed diets containing 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 ppb AFB1/kg of diet for 3 months. Results showed that various levels of AFB1 do not significantly affect the specific growth ratio (SGR) (p〈 0.05) of fish in different treatments. However, weight gain and food conversion ratio (FCR) varied significantly (p〈 0.05 between control and treatments with diets contaminated with 75 and 100ppb AFB1/kg after 90 days). The increase in level of AFB1 did not affect the percent of survival rate (SR) and no mortality was observed in treatments (SR=100%). Various levels of AFB1 under experimental conditions of the present study affect some growth factors, such as, weight gain and FCR but have no significant impact on SGR. Histopathological studies showed that different level of AFB1 can cause broad range of changes in liver, kidney, spleen and gills tissues, particularly at concentration of 75 and 100 ppb AFB1/kg of diets after 60 days. No tumor formation observed. With regard to toxin concentration and time of exposure to AFB1 in experimental fish, different degree of skin lesions (simple hemorrhage to progressive wounds) were observed in different parts of body especially in vent, caudal peduncle, fins, and head. "Yellow sores" on head and trunk regions are considerable and led to deterioration of appearance. Prevalence of skin lesion in different treatments was 8 -53.3 %, which after stop feeding with toxic diets, 16-24 % healing observed. Haematological changes included chronic anemia and lymphocyteopenia. Also neutrophilia observed with increasing of skin lesions. Meat accumulation of AFB1 in different treatments is not so considerable and harmful for human consumption, but is significantly different with control fishes (P〈0.01).

    Description: 0Genetic polymorphism by means of biochemical genetic markers using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis system in four barbus fish species has been investigated. Species scientific name were Barbus sharpeyi ; Gunther, 1847 , Barbus grypus ; Heckel, 1843, Barbus xanthopterus ; Heckel, 1843 and Barbus esocinus ; Heckel, 1843.Sampling site and location were mainly in the rivers located in Khoozestan province such as Karoon and Karkheh rivers and the Dez dam. Different organs such as blood, muscle, kidney, eye and heart were sampled and analysed for the presence of tf, es, sod and pgm alleles. High polymorphism and presence of different alleles scored, but populations were not in the H-W equilibrium. Considring results, using current and avaiable genetic markers such as microsattelits is recommended for future works.

    Description: This research was carried out in the area of the southern Caspian basin of the Caspian Sea in the vicinity of the estuaries of the White River, Tajan and Gorganroud rivers). In order to evaluate the ability to use five hard tissues (otolith, scales, hardcore radius, eye lens and dorsal vertebrae) of Rutilus kutum, and to assess the biochemical capability by measuring the changes in the bioavailability of the elements, as well as studying the accumulation of elements In macular tissues and their potential risks due to their consumption, 60 whitefish samples from three stations were sampled by bridging tours in June 1395. In total, the accumulation of 13 main and minor elements in the specimens (five hard tissues and two muscle and liver tissues) was investigated by the pixel method. Generally, the pattern of elemental accumulation in the lens of the eye was quite different from that of other tissues. The order of the accumulation of the elements in the two soft tissues studied was approximately the same, but Sr was not detectable in the muscle tissue. Ca, Fe, S, Cl and K elements were detectable in all tissues studied, but the Br element was only measurable in otoliths. The least similarity is found between the tissues in the eye lens (elements P, S and Zn) and the liver (elements Cl, Fe and K). While in the case of the Sr and Ca elements, the ottolate revealed the maximum distance. On the other hand, in terms of the accumulation of K, soft and hard tissues can be categorized into two completely separate groups.No significant correlation was observed between the elements and the biometric characteristics (weight, total length, and standard length). Based on the results, it appears that all hard tissues, except the lens of the eye, may be potential alternatives for the bioassay of Ca, Cl, Fe, K and S in the southern basin of the Caspian Sea. Scales and radius of fins can be considered as potentially non-lethal alternatives for other hard structures. Among the elements that were measurable using the piccil method in the macular tissue (muscle), only four of the Zn, Cu, Fe, and Mn thresholds allowed in some international standards are defined, which means the mean values measured in this study In all cases, in comparison with the standards, it is much less. Therefore, it seems that the consumers of this fish are not in danger of being exposed to the threat of accumulation of the four elements in fish.

    Description: In this study, to assess and classify risks associated with working in the laboratories of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecological Research Center, the method of " Failure Mode Effects Analysis " (FMEA) as well as some statistical methods were used. The results of the risk assessment in the 11 affiliated laboratories showed that the risk levels in all cases, except for benthos laboratory, could be evaluated as moderate or high and therefore appropriate corrective actions must be implemented. Based on the results of the Kruskal-Wallis tests both before and after the corrective actions, there were significant differences between the laboratories from the viewpoint of risk priority number (RPN). The post hoc tests showed the lowest risk levels for the benthose and histology laboratories, while the highest risks identified in the laboratory of instrumental analysis. The results of the classification of the laboratories using cluster analysis are largely similar to those of the posthoc tests. According to Mann-Whitney U test, only in the case of the samples preparation laboratory, significant differences between the values of the RPN before and after the corrective actions could be observed (p〉 0.05), however, the risk levels still remained high. In general it can be concluded that FMEA is an effective method for risk assessment in the research laboratories and appropriate statistical methods can also be used for complementary analysis.

    Description: The objective of this study was to evaluate 4 levels of feeding defined as 1.ad libitum to satiation, 2.Standard feeding (based on fish size and water temperature), 3.10% less than that of standard feeding and 4.10% more than that of standard feeding on growth, feed conversion rate (FCR) and carcass quality of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) reared in 12 aerated flow-through fiber glass tanks (2500l rearing volume, n=150 fish per tank, body weight average 45 g) comprised of 3 replicates under the condition of brackish water (salinity 8.4 g/l) in Bafgh Fisheries Research Station in center of Iran. The increase in average body weight (BW) and size of fish in different feeding groups was significantly different (P〈0.01) during the experiment (101 days) and the highest average BW and size increase occurred in the group fed ad libitum to satiation. On the contrary, FCR (average±SE: 1.27±0.09) in this group was statistically lower than that of the other groups (P〈0.01). The chemical composition of carcass was significantly influenced by the level of feeding (P〈0.01) and the percent of moisture, crude protein and ash was the lowest in the group fed ad libitum to satiation while the crude fat percent in this group was the highest of all. According to the results obtained in this study, an ad libitum feeding regime is suggested for rainbow trout production in fish culture systems of central desert regions in Iran under the condition of brackish water. However, further investigations are needed to draw firm conclusions, especially in earth pond cultures with different conditions, enriched in live food.

    Description: This research was conducted for evaluation of adaptation and growth rate of beluga (Huso huso) in brackish water earth pond in Yazd Province. In order to select the best density for beluga culture in brackish water earth pond, beluga with initial average weight of 21g were stocked 0.4 and 0.8 peace/m2 of earth pond with 1000m2 in area. Water resource was a semi deep well with initial temperature and salinity of 24 and 11.5 g/l respectively. During the time of culture, water temperature, pH, DO and salinity were 12-27 , 8.1-9.4, 4.5- 8.9mg/l and 11.5-13g/l in respectively. Culture period was 240 days. Results showed that growth performance of fishes in studied treatments had no significant difference.

    Description: Cheshmehkileh River and adjacent mountainous streams, play a strategic role as a historical axis for anthropogenic civilization, human welfare also habitat and migration pathway of commercial – biologic valuable fishes e.g. Caspian trout, Caspian kuttum, members of Cyprinidae family in south Caspian Sea drainage. Treats such as overfishing of Caspian trout and Red spotted trout stocks in mountainous headwaters, barriers construction and manipulations those are out of river carrying capacity developed by human activities, affected normal function of river as well. Sand mining big factories establishment next to the river, legal and illegal trade of river sediments, direct entry of Tonekabon landfill leakage into the river, development of Rainbow trout farms since 3 decades and huge effluents into the river containing dead fish and types of solids, escapement of cultured Rainbow trouts into the river, … are major minimum factors which needs basic information for integrating inclusively drainage management system. Cheshmehkileh River contains Headwaters of Dohezar (Daryasar & Nusha), Sehezar and Valamroud rivers during 13 monthly sampling phases between September 2009 and October 2010 based on macrozoobenthoses investigations by EPT, EPT/C EPA protocols, measurements of nominated physic-chemical and microbiologic parameters. Probability of Rainbow trouts escapement and invasion, existence, nutrition in Cheshmehkileh environment indeed investigated. Data analysis explained significant differences (P〈0.05) between groups of measured parameters in different sampling stations. Dendogram of clustered analysis based on consolidation of major biologic/ physic-chemical and microbiologic parameters, separated stations No. 1, 3, 2, 4 in one group and remained classified in different groups. Station 8 and 9 similarly separated which expressed general similarities according to Sehezar river environment which were differs in comparison with other stations. Station 11 separated according to its natural quality of water and environment. Similarities between station 10 to Sehezar river stations 8 and 9 expressed general influence of Sehezar River more than Dohezar River in Cheshmehkileh condition especially in station No. 10. High scores of EPT and EPT/C indices in upstream stations 1, 3 and 8 also low score of indices in stations 7, 13 and 6 expressed levels of environment quality between these groups of stations. Maximum average biomass of macroinvertebrates belongs to Trichoptera order in Cheshmehkileh River. Significant decrease of biomass in stations 11, 12 and 13 in comparison with other stations stated environment degradation in mentioned stations relevant to excessive sand mining as well. Pollution resistant groups of invertebrates significantly increased in downstreams against upstream stations. Also disappearing of Plecoptera order in station No. 7, 9, 10 and 13 stated low quality of environment in comparison with upstream stations. Confirmation of effects quality and quantity for point and non-point sources of imported pollutants require specific management considerations in order to present exploitations, pollutants control and emergencies for river monitoring in forthcoming years.

    Description: One of the country's dams is dam Shahid Rajaee Sari. In this study it was evaluated some bacterial indices. Some bacterial parameters including total bacteria, total coliform, fecal coliform, fecal streptococci , Sulphitereducing Bacteria (SRB) in the water behind the dam Shahid Rjaee for one year at five stations (the entrance Shireenrood branches, input branch of the Sefidrood, cross the river and sweet Sefidrood in the tank, close to the Taj (zero, 15 and 30) and the output reservoir) and seven samples collected during six periods (June, July, August, September, November and February) were tested in 1391. Analysis of water samples for bacterial plate count agar medium (total bacteria count) ECC were inoculated (total coliforms and fecal), SPS (sulfite reducing bacteria) and KF (bacteria Inserts fecal streptococci) was performed using the culture surface culture method. ECC in both 37 and 44 ° C medium temperature Tc, KF and SPS at 37 ° C for 72-24 hours were incubated. The results showed that the mean log of bacteria in different months of CFU / 100ml12 / 0 ± 85/6 1n September months to CFU100ml15 / 0 ± 65/4 is variable in February, the mean total coliform Log in of the CFU / 100ml15 / 0 ± 63/4 in September to CFU / 100ml44 / 0 ± 27/3 in February are variable, the mean log Clostridium Clostridium CFU / 100ml89 / 0 ± 17 / 4 in September to CFU / 100ml13 / 0 ± 07/3 in February is variable, ranging from the mean log reduction in fecal streptococci in different months CFU / 100ml19 / 0 ± 59/3 in September CFU / 100ml17 / 0 ± 10 / 3 in February is variable. The results showed that bacterial indicator pollution load of the dam in more stations in August and September months. . Compare the results of the surface water standards indicate that indicator bacteria have been studied in the standard range. If the water behind the dam is intended to be used for drinking, it has need for more treatments during the final purification for drinking purposes.

    Description: In this research, the potential use of five hard parts (otolith, scale, eye lens, dorsal spine, vertebral bone) of Rutilus kutum for stocks discrimination and biomonitoring as well as their usability as biological archive in the southern Caspian Sea was investigated. Two soft tissues (muscle and liver) were also analyzed for assessment of the possible risk of consumption and use as biomonitoring tool, respectively. A total of 60 specimens were collected using beach seine from three sampling sites (adjacent to the estuaries of the rivers Sefidrud, Tajan and Grorganrud, respectively) in the Southern Caspian Sea in May 2016. In total, the levels of 13 major and trace elements in the samples (the seven soft and hard tissues) was measured using PIXE (Proton Induced X-ray Emission) and µ-PIXE methods. Generally, the pattern of elements occurrence in the eye lens was considerably different compared to the other hard parts. The orders of element occurrence in the two soft tissues were largely similar, but Sr was not detectable in muscle. Ca, Fe, S, Cl and K could be detected in all the selected tissues, while Br was detectable only in otolith. Minor similarities among the tissues were observed in the case of eye lens (for P, S and Zn) and liver (for Cl, Fe and K). Whereas, in the case of Sr and Ca, otolith shows the maximum distance. On the other side, in the case of K, the soft and hard parts could be categorized into two completely separate groups. Generally, vertebral bone and liver showed the highest and lowest number of the correlation pairs, respectively. In case of all the hard parts, very strong correlations were found between S and Cl. Among them, all the correlations, except for eye lens, were positive. There were no significant relationships between the elements and biological characteristics (weight, total length and standard length). Based on the results, it seems that all the studied hard parts, except for eye lens, may offer alternatives for biomonitoring of Ca, Cl, Fe, K and S in the southern Caspian Sea. The scales and spines represent a potential non-lethal alternative to the other hard parts. However, since fish physiology regulates the uptake and incorporation of some elements, it is not clear that levels of all of the mentioned elements reflect their variability in the environment. Considering Sr level in otolith, no significant differences could be found between the sampling sites 2 and 3. So it can be concluded that the specimens collected from the two sites are probably from the same population. Similar results were also obtained based on the results concerning K accumulation in scale. It can be concluded that scales may provide an alternative structure to otolith for stock discrimination of R. kutum in the southern Caspian Sea. Considering the µ-PIXE elemental distribution maps and their comparison with the annual growth increments on the five hard parts, no clear patterns could be detected. In other words, the used the method seems to be not sensitive enough to characterize of the elements concentrations based on the growth patterns. Therefore, the capability of other analytical methods (with higher resolution) in clear differentiation of the growth patterns should be evaluated in future investigations. Among the 10 elements that were detectable in the muscle using the PIXE method, only in the case of four of them (i.e. Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn) maximum allowable concentrations for human consumption have been defined, which in all the cases the mean concentrations in the present study were far below the recommended limits and accordingly it seems that in this regard there is no risk for human consumption of flesh of the fishes.

    Description: Carp culture is the most important fisheries subsector. In Iran, warm water fish farming is based on Chinese carps, namely common carp (Cyprinus carpio), silver carp (Hypophtalmichthy molitrix), grass carp (Ctenophrynogodon idella) and bighead (Aristichthys nobilis) carp. These carps are easy to breed in hatcheries in large numbers at little cost, and are distributed to farmers to grow out in ponds or open waters. The characteristics of the carp farming industry in the four main fish farming provinces, Gilan, Mazandaran, Golestan and Khouzestan are different. In 1970, shilat (the fisheries organization of Iran) established a carp culture research station in Gilan province, while the first commercial facility for carp culture was established in 1969, supported by Romanian experts. The number of 5 hatchery in two province Khouzestan and Fars have been established. Production of carp fingerlings increased to 114 million pieces by 2003, of which only 15% is produced by shilat. Some 20 private hatcheries produced more than 85% of the carp seed. Stock deterioration in hatchery populations due to poor broodstock management and in breeding depression has bee observed in recent years in Iran. Retarded growth, reduction in reproductive performance, morphological deformities, increased incidence of diseases and mortalities of hatchery- produced seeds have been reported. Brood stock management as a substantial component of fish farming highly depended on hatchery managers, technicians and fish farmers who are maintaining, selecting, reproducing the locally available brood fish. This project was done in 2002-2003, At first statistical number of hatcheries and warm water farms were collected. Questionaries was filled to know what factors is measured in reproduction season by managers. It was observed that only 10 percent of personel were B.Sc and technician expert. At first broodstock supply was in mazandaran probince and also hatchery managers procurement and collected broodstock from cultured farms and other hatcheries. To decreas the stress MS222 was used by 50% of managers. Brood fish by bodyshape, colour and length were chosen or ommited. In fifty percent hatcheries sex ratio 2 : 1 was done. Also in 80% warm water fishes farms silver carp deficiency and deformities was observed. Ne in hatcheries of south and west south of Iran between 10-200 was observed. Recommendations: for chossing broodstock it should be borne have fast growth, goodbody conformation, disease resistance high fecundity. Also brood stock sufficient numbers contributing to an introduction. We also hope to be able to promote the more general message of good gentic management of aquaculture brood fish hatcheries of Iran

    Description: Low hatching artemia cysts which has no use in the aquaculture can be decapsulated and directly use in larvae culture. In order to increase the knowledge of consumers to know the quality changes of low hatching decapsulated cysts during storage after production (especially fatty acids ) this research was carried out. In this work Low hatching cysts of artemia urmiana had decapsulated with sodium hypochlorite and other chemicals. We used drying room and f.b.d system for drying of this decapsulated cysts and package units had used for packing this product to cans. We had three experimental treatments of dry decapsulated cysts (3 type packing including vaccumed cans and free (plastic dishes). These treatment were evaluated at different times (comparing of before produce, after produce , 3, 6 and 12 months keeping after production ) such as fatty acids , fatty percent , protein percent , bacterial and fungal contamination and presence of aflatoxin the result of fatty acids using one way anova analysis showed that the variation of half of fatty acids specially DHA and EPA were significant ( p 〈 0.05 ) . Fatty percentage increased and protein was decreased about 12-15% during the one year storage we separated two species of bacteria and two species of fungi but they had no pathogenic bacterial and fungal. During 6 months storage the quality of products have less variation compared whit 12 months.

    Description: Three types of packaging tubes (laminated tubewith aluminum coating, laminated tube withoutaluminum coating and tin tubes) were used asexperimental tubes and metal can (commonlyused in fisheries) was used as control packaging in this study. Caviar used was Asetra caviar. Experimental tubes weighed 50 g with caviar. 18 replicates were run for each tube type. All samples were stored at 3?C after packaging. Caviar quality was evaluated for a period of storage. Have 7 months on the basis of organoleptic, chemical, and microbial tests. Results obtained indicate that pressed caviar packed in laminated tubes with aluminum coating showed the least variations from phase 0 through the 7 months.

Therefore it will be suitable for carp fishes too. After a day’s work all vital parts can be removed by hand without any tools, for effective cleaning to the fish and gives nice looking filets and is determined to help processors by offering state of the art bone-removing equipment which will increase speed, yield and efficiency. But pin bone removing done manually does not give a nice looking fillet also has a considerable waste of fish.

    Description: The present study is carried out to investigate the fungal species present in water of Shahid Rajaeii damlake in Sari, (Mazandaran province). Samples were taken from five stations including, Station 1: Input of Shirinrud river, station 2: Input of Sefidrud river, Station 3: The confluence of the two branches, Station 4: dam crest and stations 5: Output dam from June to February 2012. Every sample was diluted by sterile saline (10-1 and 10-2) and 0.5 mL from each dilution was cultured on SD and incubated at 27-30°C for 3-5 days. Finally, the number of colonies wasrecorded as (colony forming unit = CFU) per 100 mL. Identification of fungal agents were conducted by slide culture preparation and stained in lacto-phenol blue. The results showed that in August and February were significantly highest and lowest rates of fungal colonies were isolated from water in different stations respectively. Moreover, the number of fungal colonies in the crown and the output was significantly higher than other stations. The frequency of identified fungi were: Aspergillus species (31.4%), various types of yeast (mainly Candida) (24.2%), Penicillium sp. (19.3%), Cladosporium sp.(10.3%), Mucor sp. (5.4%), Fusarium sp. (2.9%), sterile hype (2.8%), Alternaria sp. (2.3%) and Paecilomyces sp. (1.4%).

    Description: Shrimp hatcheries around the world continue to be heavily dependent of wild brood stock. This is a common threat for shrimp hatcheries in major shrimp farming countries. This dependence is inherently unstable and potentially dangerous, as the number of wild shrimp stocks around the world are tested to be positive for variety of dangerous infections increases (such as viruses). As the shrimp aquaculture industry has developed, the number of farms relying on seed hatcheries has increased too. On the other hand hatcheries are adopting technology to control the reproductiove process and produce ganeration after generation of shrimp without totally relying of wild populations. At present. There are hatcheries in khouzestan province, Abadan region. Which only 6 of them are active with production of 20 Milion postlarvae each hatchery. (of course hatchery in Bandar- e- Imam was onl active in 1380). The aim of our research project is to determine, the hatchery management, the fungal. Bacteria and parasite flora of shrimp larvae, water supply, water physico chemical factors and suitable use of dose chemicals. This study has been conducted since Farvardin1380 to Aban 1381 in Abadan hatcheries and in 1380 in Bandar-e- Imam. In this study, 7 genus and species bacteria such as, V.alginolyticus, V. splendidus, V. vulnificus, staphylococcous and A. hydrophila were diagnosed. Also, 10 genus and species fungi, trichothesium, Aspergilus, A. niger, cladosporium, mucor, fosarium, penicelium, Rhizopus and yeast were isolated. Among the received larve, zoothaminum and vorticella protozoa wer observed in Abadan hatchery. Water physico chemical Factors was terlatively normal, but heavy metal highly observed.

    Description: This study was carried out to determine the appropriate size of Caspian trout (Salmo trutta caspius Kessler, 1877) juveniles for releasing to South Caspian Sea or possibility of cage culture in Caspian Sea water. 1611 specimens were exposed in 4 weight groups of 5, 10, 15 and 20 g, in 3 salinity trials: Caspian Water (11- 11.5 ), inshore water (7 ) and fresh water (control). Each trial was done in 3 replicates. The blood samples and tissue fixations carried out from juveniles of control group (in fresh water) and 3, 6, 12, 24, 72, 168, 240 hours after exposure of fish in different treatments. Plasma osmolal ity, Na+ and Cl- concentrations, were measured by osmometer, flame photometer, RA1000 respectively. Plasma cortisol level was determined by using RIA (radio immunochemical assay). Na+, K+-ATPase activity in homogenates of gills was estimated by phosphate released from ATP. Histological indicators including chloride cell diameter and nephron morphometric parameters were assessed using classic preparation and optic microscope with digital camera. Results of osmolality and ions measuring concurrently show that all weight groups can live in salinity of 7 and they maintain the osmolality and ion concentrations. In the Caspian water, weight groups excluding 5 g juveniles show same result. Mean plasma osmolality of 20, 15, 10 and 5 gr juveniles in control group (time of 0) were calculated 331.3±8.7, 307.7±6, 334.7±14.6 and 301±8.7 mosml/l. This parameter in the above weight groups after 240 hours exposure in the Caspian Sea water were measured 329±0.53, 321±9, 325.3±6.7 and 346.5±13.6 respectively. The observation of kidney glomeruli in histological sections shows that the diameter of glomeruli in 5, 10, 15 g weight groups in 7 and all groups in Caspian water decreased after 72 h adaptation period (p〈0.05). The cortisol level in 5g juveniles increased (p〈0.05) after 168 hour of the exposure (106±11.3 ng/ml) by comparison with control group (79.5±38 ng/ml). The changes of cortisol level in other groups were not significant. The number of gill chloride cells after 7 days of fish exposure in Caspian Sea and in water of 7 salinity was not changed significantly (p〉0.05) for 5g juveniles, whereas within weight groups of 10, 15 and 20 g in Caspian Sea water and groups of 15, 20 g in water of 7 salinity, the increase (p〈0.05) of chloride cells was observed. The amount of chloride cells on gill secondary lamellas in mentioned trials varied up 3 to 7 (between two lamellas on the histological sections of 5 thickness). The size of chloride cells in 5g juveniles in different salinities has not changed (p〉0.05), although in other groups, a significant increase of this parameter was detected during experiments. Na+ ,K+ -ATPase activity in juveniles of 5g weight group in 7 salinity and Caspian water was low (3.2 6.1 mol Pi /mg protein/ h). The enzyme activities in all weight groups were higher under the exposure in Caspian Sea water than that in water of 7 salinity. In group of 10 g juveniles at start time (control in freshwater) the activity of Na+ ,K+ -ATPase was significantly higher (p〈0.05) than that in 20g group. It is may be related to some metabolic changes and transforming to parr-smolt.

    Description: The aim of this study was to determin the genetic parameters, genetic differentiation and relative relationship between different generations of specific pathogenic free of L.vannamei via molecular methods. Tissue samples of shrimp were randomly get caught from the different area. Genetic parameters were evaluated by 12 special primers of L.vannamei via microsatellite assay. In this study, two population of Molokaei and High health were identified as shrimp broodstocks of specific disease free (SPF) zero generation. Breeding among shrimp (males and females) were through inbreeding and crossbreeding. Three various stocks were produced: H♂ × M♀, M♂ × H♀ and H♀ × H♂. Genetic differences and relative relative relationship between different generations of specific pathogenic free shrimp were to evaluate by evaluation of 16S rRNA and d-loop region mitochondrial of different generations, respectively. The results showed that significant differences were observed among genetic distance of different populations of L.vannamei farmed (0.615). There were o.o78 Fst value of M.H and H.M stokes that it was a significant difference (P 〈0.001). The analysis of d-loop region of mitochondrial genomes of different generations shrimp was observed 997 positions with 3-6 and 766-799 of haplotype and monomorphic, respectively. Despite haplotype diversity and nucleotide diversity of all generations SPF shrimp were 0.877 and 0.12, respectively. While, Base on result of 16S rRNA indicated that of 486 sites have been identified 484 sites were conserved. Also, monomorphic sites ranged between 482-486 sites and was consists 2 polymorphic sites and 2 transitional sites. The number haplotypes, haplotypes diversity, nucleotide diversity revealed in this region were 2, 0.356±0.159 and 0.00147, respectively. Regarding the results of in this study can be concluded that lack of arriving new broodstocks from outside the country and was mating between adult males and females relative (full-sib) addition to small effective population size there was both genetic drift and number of haplotypes was gradually reduced from zero generation to second generation. Hence, due to the high close relationship between different generations shrimp evaluation of d-loop and 16S rRNA regions of the mitochondrial genome were little genetic difference between them.

    Description: White spot disease (WSD) is one of the shrimp deadliest viral diseases that causes heavy losses on all shrimp of Penaeid family. Most invertebrates are lacking adaptive immune system and its defense is the innate immune system that is as cellular and humoral, but a like immune system against white spot virus in shrimp was been detected. In this research, control and prevention of white spot disease in shrimp using algae Gracilaria corticata, investigated. About 300 vannamei shrimp were divided to 4 groups and fed by normal pellet and algae extract in 14 days. At the end of the fourteenth day half of the shrimp were challenged with acute white spot virus. After the fourteenth day in the days 0, 3, 9, 18 and 25 sampling were done from the hemolymph of survived shrimps and survival and immune factors were evaluated. Based on results, in the challenge test, shrimps that fed with algae extract has a significant survival rate than shrimp fed with commercial diet. Increased the Immune Factors from day one to day 25 observed during the test. Greatest amount of Immune Factors THC, TPP, SOD, POD and PO in T1 group were observed in day 25 of tests. This situation was also true for group2 (T2), but its rate significantly was less than group 1(T1).
