Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary The spectra in sulphuric acid solution and the reaction conditions of three bixanthenes: 9,9′-bixanthene(A), 9,9′-bixanthene-9-ol (B) and 9,9′-bixanthene-9,9′-diol (C) were studied for the purpose of quantitative determination. The measurements were carried out at the stronger of two maxima shifted to the visible region: at 375, 387 or at 394 nm for A, B and C, respectively. Quantities as little as 5–30 μg can be determined by this method. The similarity in the spectral types of mono- and bixanthenes in sulphuric acid media is briefly discussed. As a result of the close resemblance of their spectra in sulphuric acid, the determination of the three bixanthenes in the presence of each other or of monoxanthenes, requires previous separation (see second communication, in this journal [8]).
