    Beschreibung: This book is in commemoration of the composer, educator, conductor and social worker Magnar Åm’s 70th birthday. Right from the start of work as a composer, music as a form of recognition has been central, along with an impulse to disrupt boundaries between established forms and conventions. This has also been a guiding principle behind the contributions to this anthology, where the goal has not only been to honor one individual, but to be a source of new insight. Music and literature are about the creation and dissemination of meaning. In this sense, it is paradoxical to talk about silence as a hallmark of certain art forms. But anyone who reads or listens actively knows that there is more to be gained from art than what lies in the immediate and explicit expression. The voice (in a broad sense) finds its complimentary opposite in silence. The first part of the anthology provides a brief theoretical background for interdisciplinary research into music and literature. The contributions that follow do not view artworks simply as finished products, but as parts of a living practice in which the composer, author, music, text, performer and audience all meet. In the next part, we are drawn into the workshops of composers and musicians who reflect on the music of Magnar Åm, as well as their own in light of this. In the final part, we cross the border between art and other forms of experience, with eudaimonia as a unifying concept: How should one live a complete and meaningful life? This book has been written by researchers in a variety of fields such as literature, music, natural science and outdoor life, as well as practicing artists: composers, musicians and writers. Between research and art, through scientific articles and professional essays, a conversation arises that engenders recognition across fixed boundaries.
    Beschreibung: Denne boka er eit festskrift i høve 70-årsdagen til komponisten, pedagogen, dirigenten og samfunnsmennesket Magnar Åm. Heilt frå starten av komposisjonsarbeidet hans har musikken som erkjenningsform stått sentralt, men også trongen til å bryte grensene mellom etablerte former og konvensjonar. Dette har fungert som leietrådar også for bidraga til denne antologien. Målet har ikkje berre vore å lage eit heidersskrift til éin person, men å vere ei kjelde til ny innsikt. Musikk og litteratur handlar om skaping og formidling av meining. Slik sett er det paradoksalt å snakke om stille som eit sentralt kjenneteikn ved desse kunstartane. Men alle som les og lyttar aktivt, veit at det er meir å hente i kunsten enn det som ligg i det umiddelbare og eksplisitte uttrykket. Stemma (i vid tyding) har stilla som si komplementære motsetning. Første hovuddel av antologien gir ein kortfatta teoretisk bakgrunn for ei tverrvitskapleg forsking på musikk og litteratur. Bidraga som følgjer ser ikkje på kunstverka berre som ferdige produkt, men som delar av ein levande praksis, i møtet mellom komponist, forfattar, musikk, tekst, utøvar og mottakar. I neste del blir vi tekne med inn i verkstaden til komponistar og musikarar som kommenterer musikken til Magnar Åm, men også sin eigen i dette lyset. I siste del kryssar vi grensa mellom kunsten og andre erfaringsformer, med eudaimonia som samlande omgrep: Korleis kan ein kan leve eit fullstendig og meiningsfullt liv? Boka er skriven av forskarar frå ulike fagfelt som litteratur, musikk, naturvitskap, friluftsliv, men også av utøvande kunstnarar: komponistar, musikarar og forfattarar. I møtet mellom forsking og kunst, gjennom vitskaplege artiklar og faglege essay, oppstår det ein samtale som skaper erkjenning på tvers av fastlåste grenser.

    Beschreibung: De Friese adel van de late middeleeuwen opereerde in een niet-feodaal gebied dat lange tijd geen landsheer kende. Hadden de leden, hoofdelingen genaamd, zich uit de boerenstand omhooggewerkt of vormden ze vanouds een gesloten stand? Hoe zat het met hun vermogen? Dit boek zoomt in op Rienck Hemmema en zijn vrouw Ath Roorda. Zij exploiteerden in de jaren 1569-1573 een boerderij in Hitzum onder Franeker. Uit Riencks Rekenboeck blijkt dat hij geen eigenerfde boer was, maar een edelman met een royale levensstijl en meer inkomsten dan uit die ene boerderij. Een ruimtelijke reconstructie van zijn bezit en dat van zijn voorgeslacht toont hoe agrarisch kapitaal per generatie werd gevormd en overgedragen. Dit beeld wordt getoetst aan een Quote 200 uit 1513 en huwelijksakten uit 1450-1550. Een belangrijke conclusie is dat de Friese adel getalsmatig omvangrijk was, met veel families die leefden van twee of drie boerderijen. De figuur van de edelman-boer kwam dus vaak voor.

    Beschreibung: How can we be sure that the food we buy in grocery stores won’t make us sick? The institutions, laws and regulatory systems put in place to safeguard that food is safe to consume are the result of a long and complex process. This book takes a close look at that process and at how various actors and institutions – we call them ‘food’s facilitators’ – have worked to ensure that the food we eat is fresh, healthy and safe. Food’s Facilitators explores how modern foods and systems for food can be seen as the result of a series of administrative efforts and negotiations over how such food is produced. The authors examine laws and regulations, expertise, technologies, and media that contribute to binding the various modern industrialized food systems together. Their subject matter ranges from cookbooks and schools for housewives that have greatly influenced the Norwegian diet, to the industrial production of foods, freezer technology, date marking, and quality assessment. In addition, the authors look at the presentation of food on television as informational activity as well as debates about industrially produced ingredients and food products like margarine, artificial vanilla and farmed salmon. Through these examples the book illustrates how regulation, quality and information became necessary cornerstones in the evolution of the food industry. The authors have backgrounds in science and technology studies, history, anthropology, sociology and media science. The anthology has been edited by Terje Finstad, Stig Kvaal and Per Østby, all from the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and Håkon B. Stokland from the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research and NTNU’s Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture.

Gjennom disse eksemplene viser boken hvordan kontroll, kvalitet og kunnskap ble nødvendige omdreiningspunkt i den industrielle matens tid.     Beschreibung: What gave rise to the Norse legal system? When? And where were the meeting places under this system located? These are questions that have long remained unanswered in Norwegian and Northern European history. An overriding theme of the book is establishing when this legal system arose and how it developed over time at the local and regional levels. Central topics include the localization of assembly sites in the landscape and how these sites became important to the consolidation of power structures and, later on, the royal system of governance. The ‘things’ are discussed in relation to successive political and economic structures as well as the influence of conditions within settlements and society. The book also looks at the assembly sites in their various contexts regarding localization and importance in the region, and in connection with the system’s development in Northern Europe. The Landscape of the Law provides extensive insight into the places where law and justice and related legal matters were decided in Viken. This is an aspect of Norway’s territorial division that has not been addressed in prior research. The book is relevant for researchers and history and archeology students working in such areas as legal and religious history, administrative jurisdictions, and state-formation processes, as well as local historians and other readers interested in cultural history.
    Beschreibung: Når og hvorfor oppstod det norrøne rettssystemet og hvor var tingstedene lokalisert? Dette er tema som lenge har vært ubesvart i norsk og nord-europeisk historie. I Rettens landskap. Tingsteder og rettskretser i Viken i jernalder og middelalder undersøkes stedene for rettsmøter (tingsteder) og den administrative organisasjonen i det historiske Viken-området: de kystnære og sentrale delene av Sørøst-Norge, fra Telemark i vest til Bohuslän i øst. Dette geografiske området utgjør Borgartingets lovområde i middelalderen. Gjennom arkeologiske funn, onomastiske, topografiske og historiske kilder, diskuteres fremveksten av det juridiske landskapet i et langtidsperspektiv fra jernalder til middelalder, det vil si perioden 100–1600 e.Kr. Et gjennomgående tema er når rettssystemet oppsto og hvordan det utviklet seg over tid, både på lokalt og regionalt nivå. Sentralt står lokaliseringen av tingstedene i landskapet, og hvordan tingstedene inngikk som en viktig del av konsolideringen av maktstrukturer og senere kongelige styringssystem. Tingene drøftes i sammenheng med skiftende politiske og økonomiske strukturer, samt bosetnings- og samfunnsforhold som kan ha påvirket tingsystemet. Boken ser også på tingstedene i deres ulike kontekster med hensyn til lokalisering og betydning i regionen, og i sammenheng med tingsystemets utvikling i Nord-Europa. Rettens landskap gir dyptgående innsikt i steder for lov og rett og tilhørende rettsområder i Viken. Dette er en del av Norges territorielle inndeling som ikke har vært belyst i tidligere forskning. Boken er relevant for forskere og studenter innenfor historie og arkeologi som arbeider med eldre retts- og kirkehistorie, administrative inndelinger og statsdannelsesprosesser, men den er også velegnet for lokalhistorikere og kulturhistorisk interesserte lesere.

    Beschreibung: How should we go about collaborating with children and adolescents? Young Participation: Creativity and Conflict in Planning explores how youth participation work in practical terms, in the context of urban development processes at the municipal level in Norway. From their unique perspectives, several social scientists, artists, an architect, and a young contributor discuss experiences and dilemmas of including children, teens, and young adults as contributing stakeholders on various projects. The reader will find concrete examples of participation processes and tools developed in cooperation with young people, architects, and public employees. The chapters reveal how good intentions regarding inclusion can obscure power hierarchies, friction, and conflicts of interest. Yet they also demonstrate that the potential for creativity and innovation are great when young people are invited to contribute their input in planning and developing everything from youth community centers and school grounds to parks and other outdoor spaces in local neighborhoods. This anthology will provide inspiration to researchers, students, municipal employees, urban planners, and others working collaboratively in urban and community development. Among the topics covered are participation as co-research, social entrepreneurship and participation as part of school curricula and in socio-cultural place analyses, the power of the hand in creative practices, co-location as a trend, digital and hybrid participation processes, and power plays in planning.     Beschreibung: This book, written by 12 authors, asks: Who governed the Nordic towns from c. 1500 to 1800? The book is inspired by pivotal studies undertaken by Finn-Einar Eliassen in the late 1990s concerning the progression of family dynasties in ruling several small towns in Norway from c. 1600–1800. Eliassen ascertained that 8–10 small Norwegian towns happened to be dominated by two-three families in economic, social, political and administrative matters. He maintained that ownership of the very ground upon which the town was built came to define a privatized lordship, not only in Norway but also in various peripheries in central and northern Europe. Our investigations explore quite opposite patterns. The Norwegian landlords more effectively dominated their towns – compared with landlords in Danish, Finnish, and Baltic towns – by actually living and working there, and due to their vast engagement in lumber trade and shipping. In other parts of the Nordic region the landlords normally did not reside in the towns or get involved in business in the town district. However, they possessed other types of power and authority. Finally, we assert that the paths to power and wealth in privatized monopoly towns lay in the establishment of social networks, the ownership of strategic land estates in connection with trade, industry and transport, and, above all, controlling the credit system that bound the peasants and other social groups to supply their masters with labour, lumber, agricultural products, and so on. However, the power of the dynasties had obvious limitations.
    Beschreibung: Denne boka kretser rundt spørsmålet om hvem som styrte de nordiske byene ca. 1500–1800. Boka – skrevet av tolv forfattere – er inspirert av Finn-Einar Eliassens pionerarbeid fra 1990-årene om familiedynastier i norske byer. Eliassen kom fram til at åtte–ti norske småbyer i perioden 1600–1800 ble dominert av to–tre familier økonomisk, sosialt, politisk, administrativt og kulturelt, noe han mener også har vært mønstre i periferier i Nord- og Sentral-Europa. Kilden til makt lå i det å eie bygrunnen. Våre undersøkelser viser andre mønstre. De norske godseierbyene ca. 1500–1800 skilte seg ut fra tilsvarende byer i resten av Norden på flere måter. I Norge kom byherrene til å styre og dominere mer, de var sterkt involvert i næringsvirksomheten, og de bodde i byene. I resten av Norden ble godseierbyene preget av andre økonomiske eliter og av at godseierne ikke residerte i byene. På den andre siden hadde danske, svenske og finske godseiere andre maktmuligheter enn de norske. Samtidig avdekker våre funn at det å eie grunnen ofte ikke var hovedkilden til makt og rikdom i en by. Dynastier og eliter fant ressursene i sosiale nettverk og strategisk eierskap i næringer og kredittsystemer. Like viktig var det at byherrenes makt i Norden på flere måter var begrenset.

    Beschreibung: Ministers, deacons, catechists and cantors are among the church professionals laypeople meet in the context of worship, other church services, and congregational activities. These professionals are upholding a social mission, influencing church practices, setting the tone and developing programs and services within their congregations. What are the hallmarks of the different professions within the church? What insight should church professionals have into each other’s identities and areas of expertise to collaborate and participate in interdisciplinary teamwork? And how, in practical terms, should they be lead? Profession and Leadership in the Church of Norway: Organizing Work of a Church in Change provides sociological and administrative insights into general and contextual phenomena in the church professions. Relationships between professions, administration and organization in the Church of Norway are analyzed in light of empirical studies and an institutional theoretical framework. The author discusses how the professions derive appropriate ways of organizing their work. A key finding in the book is that church professions are characterized by calling, autonomy and complexity. These particular features make value-based leadership especially well-suited to the church professions. Part of the work on a new national church law includes addressing central questions about how the Church of Norway, with its extensive range of services and activities, should be led and organized.     Beschreibung: As a result of society’s increasing digitisation, the police have ever more opportunities to collect, investigate and combine huge amounts of personal data using advanced technology. Examples are provided from recent cases where police have gained access to millions of encrypted messages from various servers, including Ennetcom, EncroChat and Sky Global. However, the current legal framework is, as yet, ill-equipped to deal with this new reality. Partly for this reason, legislators are facing new questions about how the (further) processing of data in detection should be regulated by law. Commissioned by the WODC, this study examines the legal safeguards in criminal justice data collection in relation to the legal safeguards governing the processing of these data. The Code of Criminal Procedure mainly focuses on the collection of data and to a much lesser extent on its further use, but this may involve a (fresh) invasion of citizens’ privacy. The Police Data Act contains some provisions to data processing, but the relationship with the Dutch Code of Criminal Procedure is not entirely clear. This study identifies the requirements and safeguards under European law for the processing of data for criminal justice purposes. Further inspiration is drawn from experience with the Intelligence and Security Services Act 2017 in which powers of collection and (further) processing are regulated in a single law. Finally, it explores how, in several countries (Germany, Belgium and Norway), the requirements arising from European law have been translated into legal regulations and how these regulations are designed. This study provides tools that legislators can use to reconsider the methods of standardisation and legal regulation design to better protect citizens' privacy. The recommendations thus focus on strengthening the legal framework on data processing and its supervision by creating an explicit legal framework in the Code of Criminal Procedure and establishing an independent supervisor focused on the processing of personal data by investigative authorities.

For over fifty years the International Association for Dutch studies (IVN) has been serving the interests of international Dutch scholars who educate students, do research, give lectures, make dictionaries, write literary histories and organize congresses.     Beschreibung: Yearbook for Dutch Book History, Volume 29/2022 Education and Pedagogy The Yearbook for Dutch Book History publishes articles in the Dutch and English language on all aspects of the book history of the Low Countries. The central theme of Volume 29 (2022) of the Yearbook is ‘Education and Pedagogy’. Contributions to the volume encompass a broad scope. The seventeenth and eighteenth centuries are discussed from the perspectives of Catholic and Protestant schoolbooks, and their roles in contemporary theological disputes, as well as the manner in which the Disaster Year (1672) was canonised in the Nieuwe Spiegel der Jeugd (New Mirror of Youth), which was repeatedly in print between 1674 and 1780. Later periods are treated by contributions detailing handbooks for artists in the nineteenth century and the illustrations of Cornelis Jetses in Bremer schoolbooks. Knowledge and illustrations of the clitoris stand at the heart of a contribution on biological education. The section of thematic articles is concluded by an interview with two publishers of schoolbooks who detail contemporary developments in the schoolbook market. Unrelated to the annual theme, the Yearbook also contains contributions on the printer Peter van Selow and his supposed Dutch background, the survival of editions of the Reformed Liturgy in the later sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, and an article on so-called Neusboekjes (Nose-books), short comical works from the seventeenth and eighteenth century with pronounced satirical insights into Dutch politics and social norms.

    Beschreibung: Fordommer sitter i språket og i måten vi snakker på. De kommer til uttrykk på forskjellige måter og kan brukes både som humor og hatefulle ytringer. Ofte bruker vi fordommer uten at vi engang er klar over det. Men hva er egentlig fordommer? Og hvem rammes av fordommene? Dette er relevante spørsmål i dagens skole.     Beschreibung: An image in technicolor. Fifty years of wars in Vietnam 1940-1990 gives a broad and innovative interpretation of the history of Vietnam between 1940 and 1990. Black and white characterisations, one-sided interpretations and prevailing myths are debunked. Instead, a nuanced and multifaceted picture is given in which the United States is less prominent. History is not only written by the victors and, in this case too, the history of Vietnam during this period cannot be attributed solely to Ho Chi Minh and the success of the Communists in 1975. The internal losers, that is, the other political movements and their leaders, must also be given a crucial place in Vietnam’s history. For example, the civil wars that took place between 1940 and 1990 played an unmistakable role. The older, idealised image of North Vietnam is inaccurate. This country was a dictatorial and oppressive police state. After 1954, the North Vietnamese leaders were embroiled in a fierce power struggle and were largely responsible for the war in South Vietnam. The answer to the question of who the legitimate representatives of the Vietnamese nation were also requires a more balanced judgment of non-Communist politicians, such as Bao Dai, Ngo Dinh Diem and Nguyen Van Thieu. As for the role of international players, initially, it was the Cold War that determined the United States’ interference; later, it was American credibility. In the end, it was the support from China and the Soviet Union that was the deciding factor for North Vietnam’s victory. Important new perspectives are given on the role of minorities, the meaning of ‘a third way’, the devastating effects of the strategy, the role of women and girls, and the mental and cultural aspects of the wars.

    Beschreibung: The link between language and thought formed a major new exploration of twentieth-century philosophy. Languages nuance our ideas and perceptions. Though from various angles, Heidegger, Derrida, Wittgenstein forged new ways of understanding the relationship between our views of the external world and our culturally and linguistically pre-determined modes of expression. Another giant in this field of exploration is the Romanian philosopher Constantin Noica (1909–1987), who has so far remained generally unknown to the Western World because of the Iron Curtain. The Romanian Sentiment of Being (Sentimentul românesc al ființei), first published in Romanian in 1978, is a philosophical work at the intersection of metaphysics and philosophy of language. The title of this book may be deceptive. “Romanian” does not mean ethnically circumscribed; it does not limit ontology to nationality but rather reflects on how language can carry ontological thought. The Romanian Sentiment of Being invites the readers to meditate on the fundamental theme of being and how it is expressed in a culture in time. This being in time marks the tension between moment and eternity, captured in the fairytale ""Ageless Youth and Deathless Life"" (""Tinerețe fără batrânețe și viață fără de moarte""), which Noica interprets in detail. The translation of the story will be found in the appendix. Noica also analyzes one of the most famous poems in Romanian, Mihai Eminescu’s ""The Evening Star"" (""Luceafărul""), and readers will find its translation in the appendix.

Her kan du blant annet lese om bærekraftig skogforvaltning, sosial bærekraft i turistnæringen, hvordan blokkjedeteknologi kan bidra til satsningen på fornybar energi, hvordan maritime bedrifter i Møre og Romsdal svarer på forventninger om bærekraftig utvikling, og hvordan tvprogrammet «Supernytt» formidler bærekraftbegrepet til barn. Samlet illustrerer kapitlene i denne antologien hvor komplekst bærekraftbegrepet er, og hvor vanskelig det er å nå målene. Et viktig funn er at vi må handle enhetlig om vi skal kunne realisere bærekraftsmålene, da de griper inn i hverandre, og det ikke nytter å løse dem enkeltvis. I tillegg må det forskning til, slik at vi som samfunn kan finne de beste løsningene for å innfri bærekraftsmålene. Denne antologien er et bidrag til denne forskningen. Forfatterne er i all hovedsak tilknyttet universitets- og høgskoleinstitusjoner i Kyst-Norge, fra Haugesund i sør til Kristiansund i nord. Unntakene representerer det mangfoldet av samarbeidspartnere som disse miljøene har forbindelser til både regionalt og nasjonalt. Redaktørene for boken er Heidi Hogset, Johanne Alteren, Bjørn Jæger og Solveig Straume. Redaktørene er tilknyttet Høgskolen i Molde – vitenskapelig høgskole i logistikk.

    Beschreibung: Morsmålsfaget er stort og mangfoldig og omfatter mange deldisipliner. Det utgjør et «fagmassiv» som lærere, lærerutdannere og forskere må orientere seg i. I denne antologien er det samlet 13 artikler som demonstrerer eksempler på hvordan det både kan undervises i og forskes på morsmålsfaget. Boka inneholder artikler innenfor språkdidaktikk, litteraturdidaktikk og skrivedidaktikk og har empiri fra alle nivå i utdanningssystemet i Norge, Sverige, Danmark og Finland. Antologien speiler også at morsmålsfaget er i stadig bevegelse, og nye disipliner kommer til. Derfor har vi for eksempel med bidrag som digital skriving i sosiolingvistisk perspektiv, sanglyrikk som multimodalt uttrykk og pedagogisk transspråking. Antologien har blitt til i etterkant av en nordisk konferanse om morsmålsdidaktikk ved NTNU, Trondheim, i 2019. Konferansekomiteen var den samme som redaksjonen for denne antologien. Både konferansen og boka inngår i en rekke slike arrangement som går på omgang i morsmålsdidaktikkmiljøene i Norge, Sverige, Danmark og Finland. Det felles nordiske nettverket har navnet Nordisk nettverk for morsmålsdidaktisk forskning (NNMF).

    Beschreibung: This article investigates ‘nose books’ (neusboekjes) and their social functions in the Early Modern Low Countries. Nose books are short literary texts written in the form of joyful ordinances that can be found in bound volumes (Sammelbände). These volumes contain a number of separately printed works, such as almanacs, prognostications and popular texts, which were subsequently bound together. Unlike previous studies, which have largely considered nose books as purely entertaining, this article demonstrates that nose books were initially sold as a form of political satire. As such, they encouraged societal engagement. However, over the course of the eighteenth century, the political undertone of nose books was no longer part of people’s reading experiences. These later readers appreciated the parody of the official ordinance instead.

    Beschreibung: This anthology deals with co-singing (Norwegian: samsang) in different life stages and various settings in a Scandinavian context. Co-singing forms an essential part of our shared cultural heritage. Co-singing involves all forms of singing-activities in which people coexist, and characterizes in various ways human companionship throughout the course of life, from cradle to grave. From a critical analytical perspective, the research in this anthology sheds light on several themes related to the importance and value of co-singing practice in terms of sensemaking and experiencing coherence in life. This involves musical, physical, psychological, emotional, cognitive, ethical, cultural, and social factors. The research project examines for instance the position of singing activities in Norwegian kindergartens and schools, co-singing and health-related topics, co-singing from a gender perspective, co-singing from a multicultural perspective, co-singing activities in light of motivation and coping, and also low-threshold, flexible daily life singing activities for persons with dementia and their relatives. Choir singing in various life stages, from childhood to age of retirement, are also explored in several chapters. With its broadly arranged and pluralistic approach, this anthology provides a multi-faceted contribution to the development of knowledge in the research field of music associated with the power and legitimacy of co-singing at the individual, group, and societal levels. The contributing authors have their practical and scientific experience from higher music education within the fields of music pedagogy, music performance, music therapy, music and health, and also from other types of cultural and musical practices.

Samsang, som innebærer alle former for sang der mennesker synger sammen, karakteriserer på ulike måter menneskelig samvær gjennom hele livsløpet, fra vugge til grav. Med et kritisk analytisk blikk belyser forskningsarbeidene i antologien varierte tematikker omkring samsangpraksisens betydning og verdi for meningsskaping og opplevelse av sammenheng i livet knyttet til musikalske, fysiske, psykiske, emosjonelle, kognitive, etiske, kulturelle og sosiale faktorer.     Beschreibung: Why do children and young people need art? How do we rationalize the significance of art in society? This anthology is based on research carried out by members of the multidisciplinary research group Art and Young People at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Agder in Kristiansand. The contributing authors argue in favor of research into children’s and young people’s actual experience of art and artistic practices as well as issues within the arts that affect them indirectly. The book’s subtitle indicates a desire to employ a wider understanding of the notions of art and childhood and youth, which is also evident in the themes, content and research approaches it includes. The chapters span both children’s and young people’s interaction with visual art, music, theater within and outside the context of preschool, school and extracurricular programs, and projects that are more on the periphery of these areas.     Beschreibung: Press, Profession and Politics is a festschrift in honor of Paul Bjerke, who celebrated his 70th birthday on 2 October 2022. Bjerke has had a far-reaching career in journalism, research and as a social commentator. This festschrift consists of research articles, professional literature, and congratulatory texts from colleagues and collaborators in the media and academic communities. The anthology includes new analyses of various aspects of professional journalistic practice and reflections on the realities of journalism today. Three key concepts are central to an understanding of Paul Bjerke’s research work: press, profession and politics. These concepts comprise the title of the festschrift and are also used to structure its content, with the goal in mind of providing insight into some of the work Bjerke has contributed, as well as linking the texts in this anthology to his research activities.     Beschreibung: Det norske forskningsprosjektet Digitization and Diversity – Potentials and Challenges for Diversity in the Culture and Media Sector (DnD) spør: Hvordan påvirker digitaliseringen ulike mangfoldsdimensjoner i kultur- og mediesektoren? Kapitlene i denne boken belyser digitalisering og mangfoldsproblematikk både kritisk, empirisk, teoretisk, historisk og politisk. De har det til felles at de presenterer perspektiver og resultater som viser at mangfold har blitt en mye mer heterogen og sammensatt utfordring etter digitaliseringen. Det har oppstått nye spenninger mellom homogenisering og mangfold. Vi har konsentrert oss om digitaliseringen i fire bransjer: bok og bibliotek, museum, film og kino samt pressen med vekt på lokalavisene. Grunnen til at akkurat disse bransjene ble valgt, er at Norge var spesielt tidlig ute med digitalisering her – de fremstår som eksemplariske case. Spørsmålet om hvordan mangfoldet «oppfører seg» i en digitalisert kultur- og mediesektor, befinner seg derfor midt i denne politikkens kjernevirksomhet. Digitalisering forfølges av sin dobbeltgjenger – eldre praksiser, forretningsmodeller og forestillinger – på godt og vondt. Digitalisering er ikke en ren foreteelse, men en uren legering av praksiser.     Beschreibung: On 17 August 1945, two days after the Japanese surrender that also brought an end to the Second World War in Asia, Indonesia declared its independence. The declaration was not recognized by the Netherlands, which resorted to force in its attempt to take control of the inevitable process of decolonization. This led to four years of difficult negotiations and bitter warfare. In 2005, the Dutch government declared that the Netherlands should never have waged the war. The government’s 1969 position on the violence used by the Dutch armed forces during the war remained unchanged, however: although there had been ‘excesses’, on the whole the armed forces had behaved ‘correctly’. As the indications of Dutch extreme violence mounted, this official position proved increasingly difficult to maintain. In 2016, the Dutch government therefore decided to fund a broad study on the dynamics of the violence. The most important conclusions of that research programme are summarized in this book. The authors show that the Dutch armed forces used extreme violence on a structural basis, and that this was concealed both at the time and for many years after the war by the Dutch government and by society more broadly. All of this – like the entire colonial history – is at odds with the rose-tinted self-image of the Netherlands.

Gjennom å løfte fram flere minoriserte stemmer ønsker forfatterne å nyansere mangfoldet i mangfoldet; flere av tekstene de drøfter her, vitner om interseksjonalitet, hvor flere identiteter overlapper i ett og samme individ.

    Beschreibung: Society’s use and management of water relies on professional expertise spanning diverse fields: from biology and technology to economics and law. This book examines current issues related to regulating water through chapters summarizing various sets of regulation as well as chapters that take a scientific deep dive into selected themes. The diversity of professional expertise is also reflected in the law aspect. We explore such subjects as surface runoff, natural disasters, drinking water, groundwater, salmon, hydropower, and human rights, as well as general impact assessment requirements and duty of knowledge in environmental law administration. A key objective of the book has been to provide an interdisciplinary understanding of the legal circumstances associated with water, and in addition, deliberate the pros and cons of some of the current regulations. This book will be particularly useful for those who in various ways support and facilitate procedures within the public sector at both the national and municipal levels. It will also be useful for private sector actors seeking familiarity with legal questions that can arise in relation to public administration and other private actors. From a broader perspective, we hope the book can help to throw light on conflicts between different interests and groups within society that occur, for example, when introducing fees, special injunctions against private actors, and requirements for knowledge basis. This book project is the result of legal research conducted at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and is supplemented by national expertise in several areas. It has been edited by Steinar Taubøll, a professor at NMBU’s Department of Property and Law. Taubøll has a background in both law and the natural sciences, and extensive experience with interdisciplinary work.

Denne boken drøfter aktuelle temaer knyttet til rettslig regulering av vann, både i form av oversiktskapitler om ulike regelsett og gjennom vitenskapelige dypdykk i utvalgte temaer. Den faglige spennvidden gjenspeiler seg også innen det juridiske. I boken finner man stoff om overvannshåndtering, naturfare, drikkevann, grunnvann, villaks, kraftutbygging, menneskerettigheter, samt om generelle utredningskrav og kunnskapsplikter i miljørettsforvaltning. Et sentralt siktemål er å bygge opp tverrfaglig forståelse av gjeldende juridiske forhold knyttet til vann, og dessuten sette noen av dagens reguleringer under debatt. Boken retter seg særlig til de ressurspersonene som på ulike måter støtter saksbehandlingen i stat og kommune. Boken antas også å være nyttig for private aktører som vil gjøre seg mer kjent med rettsspørsmål som kan oppstå i forhold til forvaltningen og til andre private aktører. I et bredere perspektiv er det dessuten ønskelig at boken kan bidra til å belyse konflikter mellom ulike hensyn og grupper i samfunnet, for eksempel ved innføring av gebyrer, pålegg rettet mot private, innføring av tyngende vilkår og krav til kunnskap og faktagrunnlag. Bokprosjektet springer ut av den juridiske forskningen ved Norges miljø- og biovitenskapelige universitet, og har i tillegg knyttet til seg nasjonal spisskompetanse på mange temaer.     Beschreibung: Collective mobilization arises in the context of social movements and people’s desire for change. In this book, collective mobilization is discussed in light of a variety of perspectives, theories and methodological entryways. With Freire’s consciousness-raising teachings on teamwork and Putnam’s and Bourdieu’s ideas about social capital as an underpinning, the authors examine how collective mobilization happens and how it is exercised. As such, the book is a contribution to disciplines and educational programs within the social sciences and social professions.     Beschreibung: Animal Welfare Management in Norway is about how authorities can best promote high standards of well-being and respect for animals. In Norway, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority has primary responsibility for ensuring that businesses and persons comply with animal welfare laws and regulations. This book presents the results of a unique research project on the effects of the Food Safety Authority’s efforts within land-based food industries, in which key questions were: What kinds of regulatory measures and oversight are most effective? Is organizing all regulatory activity under one authority worthwhile? Is industry receptive to oversight? How can the authority utilize measures such as guidelines, warnings or punishment to best effect? This book provides new insight into challenges associated with animal welfare management, an area that has previously been under-researched in Norway. The book is geared toward persons with supervisory roles as well as those working in industries that handle animals, but it will also be of interest to anyone concerned with animal welfare or oversight in general. The book can also be relevant for instruction at the higher educational level. The contributors have backgrounds in political science, law, sociology, social anthropology, veterinary and other livestock-related fields, as well as inspection services. The book has been edited by Stig S. Gezelius, a professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway, and Frode Veggeland, a professor at the University of Oslo and senior researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO). I Norge er det Mattilsynet som har hovedansvaret for å kontrollere at virksomheter og personer overholder dyrevelferdsloven. Denne boka presenterer resultatene fra et unikt forskningsprosjekt om virkninger av Mattilsynets virksomhet i landbaserte matnæringer. Sentralt står spørsmålet om hva slags tilsyn som virker best. Er det hensiktsmessig å samle alle tilsynsoppgaver i én etat? Er næringen mottakelig for styring? Giving in the Netherlands 2022 answers the following questions: How generous are the Dutch in their charitable giving? Who gives to which charitable causes? How has giving behavior developed over the past 25 years? In Giving in the Netherlands, we do not only examine financial contributions, but also volunteer service. Giving in the Netherlands contributes to the visibility of the philanthropic sector in the Netherlands. This is important to legitimize an independent and rapidly growing sector. In 2020, the Netherlands gave € 5.6 billion ($ 5.6 billion, £ 4.9 billion) which equals 0.7% of GDP. As a proportion of GDP, the Netherlands gave slightly less in 2020 than in 2018. In addition, 44% of the population was engaged in volunteer work. Corporations and households give most. Together, corporations and households are responsible for almost 80% of all philanthropy in the Netherlands. While, every source has a favorite charitable cause, health received the most in 2020.

    Beschreibung: The ABCs of Complaint: The Book of Lamentations Through the Ages analyzes the biblical Book of Lamentations. Central to the book are the questions: How can we translate the Hebrew text while at the same time taking into consideration the poetic devices of the source text and insights from recent research into biblical Hebrew grammar? What are the literary forms and content of the poems? How have readers read, understood and used Lamentations over the course of its reception history? The author examines Lamentations’ literary form, its religion-historical, theological and historical content, and its contexts. In addition, selected stations along Lamentations’ nomadic journey through reception history are explored. The book combines historical-critical, literary and form-critical methods. The five poems of Lamentations are analyzed according to the categories orientation (being at equilibrium), disorientation (a state of being out of balance), and reorientation (a state of existence where equilibrium has been restored), inspired by Walter Brueggemann’s typology of psalms. Based on a meticulous philological analysis of the Hebrew text, the author presents a new, transparent Norwegian translation. A distinctive feature of this translation is that it, in several instances, interprets the Hebrew perfect (qatal) as a so-called precative perfect (“perfect of prayer”). The ABCs of Complaint is relevant for students of theology and religion, researchers, church employees, lay people, and all who are interested in Biblical lament literature and images of God from a historical perspective on theology and religion.

Sentralt står spørsmålene: Hvordan kan vi oversette den hebraiske teksten og samtidig ta hensyn til grunntekstens poetiske virkemidler og innsikter fra nyere forskning på bibelhebraisk grammatikk? Hva er diktenes litterære form og innhold? Hvordan har lesere lest, forstått og brukt Klagesangene gjennom dens resepsjonshistorie? Forfatteren drøfter Klagesangenes litterære form, dens religionshistoriske, teologiske og historiske innhold og dens kontekster. I tillegg drøftes utvalgte stasjoner langs Klagesangenes nomadiske vandring gjennom resepsjonshistorien. Boken kombinerer historisk-kritiske, litterære og formkritiske metoder. De fem diktene i Klagesangene analyseres ut fra kategoriene orientering (en tilværelse i likevekt), desorientering (en virkelighet ute av balanse) og nyorientering (en tilværelse hvor likevekten er gjenopprettet), inspirert av Walter Brueggemanns salmetypologi. På grunnlag av en nitid filologisk analyse av den hebraiske teksten presenterer forfatteren en ny, transparent norsk oversettelse.     Beschreibung: In the spring of 2019, 3355 Dutch students in group 6 of primary education from 112 schools participated in eTIMSS-2019. TIMSS stands for Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study and measures worldwide developments in knowledge and skills in science and in attitudes of students who have completed four or eight years of formal education. The 'e' of eTIMSS refers to the digital administration of the test. In the Netherlands, group 6 students took the 2019 TIMSS test on a tablet. The students have been tested in mathematics and science (biology, physics and chemistry and physical geography). The present report reports on the outcomes of TIMSS-2019 in the Netherlands. The remainder of this chapter describes the structure of TIMSS-2019.

    Beschreibung: What makes a happy city? How can a city respond adequately and resiliently to a crisis disrupting civic society? Answers to these timeless questions differ through time. A Miracle of St Martin – Utrecht a Happy City tells the story of Utrecht and St Martin. At the occasion of Utrecht’s 900th anniversary as a free city, the book elucidates how the bond between Utrecht and its patron saint since the early Middle Ages inspired people to contribute to a happy city. The book is designed as a diptych, focusing first on St Martin’s Utrecht patronage around the year 900, when the settlement built within the walls of the former Roman castellum endured difficult times due to political and climatological troubles. Bishop Radbod (899/900-917) calls upon his fellow citizens to cultivate the commemoration of St Martin and to appeal to the saintly figure in times of hardship. The book includes a translation of Radbod’s Miracle Story of St Martin and unravels the secrets of his Gregorian office for the summer feast of St Martin’s Translation on July 4th. The second part of the book focuses on St Martin’s role in the multicultural twenty-first-century city of Utrecht. The popular St Martin’s Parade establishes a new celebration of the saint with music, street art and a parade of lights. Reflecting on this newly (re-)invented tradition we discover St Martin anew as a symbolic figure representing values of the inclusive city in past and present. The book is lavishly illustrated with images of St Martin and his cult in medieval and modern-day Utrecht.

    Beschreibung: Which voices, bodies and practices have expressed critical powerlessness in the face of institutional power, and who is expressing this today? What is at play, and what is the root of this powerlessness? These questions are at the core of this book. With Michel Foucault’s theory of power and powerlessness as a point of departure, the contributing authors analyze and discuss the many conflicts and tension that arise when service users and patients take (or relinquish) a particular position. Institutions and professional practitioners have used and still use traditions, theories and methods that often weaken more than strengthen service users’, patients’ and clients’ own volition and subjectivity. The chapters are by researchers in a variety of disciplines including theology, nursing, ethics, child welfare, disability research, history, diakonia, and social work. In the context of these fields, recognizing and emphasizing people’s dignity and promoting equity are explored. But both historically and at present, research and experience show that the opposite also occurs. The ethical takes place between power, powerlessness and practice.

The book is the Dutch version of the original English version entitled How Economics Became the Problem. An urgent call to legal action. The Russian translation of the book will be published in 2021. A Chinese version of the book is currently in press.

    Beschreibung: Norsk atten- og nittenhundretalls modernisering og demokratiutvikling har ofte blitt fortolket innenfor sekulære rammer. Men religion og religiøse aktører spilte sentrale roller i norsk nasjonsbygging, noe som kommer spesielt tydelig fram sett i et transnasjonalt perspektiv. Ved å forfølge ulike protestantiske impulser, aktører og transnasjonale nettverk ønsker forfatterne å bidra til ny kunnskap om forholdet mellom religion, sekularisering og modernisering i norsk historie fra 1840-tallet fram til 1980-tallet. Religionen som utforskes, er ulike former for protestantisk kristendom, men ikke bare fra et norsk statskirkelig ståsted. Tre av kapitlene analyserer ulike norske minoritetskristne perspektiv på forhandlinger om det religiøse og det sekulære blant annet vis-a-vis den lutherske statsreligionen. De resterende kapitlene indikerer hvordan norsk statsreligion i praksis var mer heterogen enn man gjerne antar, på bakgrunn av organisasjoner og aktørers tilknytning til det statskirkelige lutherske. Boken analyserer hvordan mange norske kvinner og menn, uavhengig av klasse- og geografisk bakgrunn, ble påvirket av internasjonale, protestantiske strømninger. I framveksten av det moderne Norge både utfordret og fornyet disse strømningene statskirken, samtidig som de førte til opphevingen av statskirkens formelle livssynsmonopol. Strømningene inspirerte også til modernisering og profesjonalisering av helse- og sosialarbeid i nasjonens senter så vel som i periferien. Flere av kapitlene omhandler ulike aspekt av forholdet mellom kristen aktivisme og det som kan oppfattes som sekulær velferdspraksis i sosialhistorisk sammenheng. Med forfattere fra fagfeltene teologi, religionsvitenskap, kirkehistorie og historie er denne boken et bidrag til dypere og mer nyanserte forståelser av det norske samfunnet i tidsperioden 1846–1986.

    Beschreibung: The present article is the result of the ongoing research of the project ‘The Dynamics of the Classical Reformed Liturgy in the Netherlands: Its Texts and their History’. This Liturgy is recorded in numerous psalm books and Bibles. The question arises how many editions of the Liturgy have not been preserved, or which are not known in publicly accessible collections. To this end, the article analyses a list of forty editions of the Liturgy from the period 1566-1634 that the theologian Gisbertus Voetius included in 1641 in a book entitled Catechisatie Over den Catechismus der Remonstranten. The article examines in particular the extent to which a tried and tested statistical analysis can be helpful in determining the value of this list. The article concludes that the data provided by Voetius not only provides information about a number of specific lost books, but, taking into account a number of uncertain factors, also offers an indication of the probable total number of editions containing the Liturgy that were originally published and are now untraceable.

    Beschreibung: Practitioner lawyers and legal scientists pay a lot of attention to providing insight into developments and patterns in the judiciary. However, with the question of exactly how they arrive at their insights and account for them, they are entering less familiar territory. Important questions they ask themselves are: How do I collect case law? Which statements do I select or not select for analysis? How do I expose a pattern? How reliable are the insights found? What exactly is their relevance and meaning? And how can software, artificial intelligence or other data science techniques help with this? With the increasing digital availability of justice, this research is increasingly attractive. Alle gjeldende grunnlovsbestemmelser blir utførlig kommentert og tilsvarende for alle tidligere bestemmelser som nå er opphevet. Kommentarene er skrevet av i alt 49 spesialistforfattere, de fleste jurister og noen historikere. Grunnlovsparagrafene blir satt inn i ulike sammenhenger, både idehistoriske og politiske, med hverandre og med internasjonale forpliktelser, rettspraksis og lovgivning. Redaktørene har i tillegg skrevet innledning til verket. Boka er uunnværlig for alle som arbeider med statsrettslige spørsmål, både i Storting og styringsverk, i domstolene og på advokatkontorer, og for studenter så vel som for historisk og politisk interesserte. Redaktørene er begge professorer ved Det juridiske f akultet ved Universitetet i Oslo og stod sentralt i forsk-ningen knyttet til Grunnlovens 200-årsjubileum i 2014.

    Beschreibung: The research reported in this publication concerns the second sub-study of the project Administrative Power and the Effect of Professionalisation Incentives in Secondary Education. This sub-study focuses on the various incentives that the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and organisations affiliated with OCW (for instance NRO, the Inspectorate and DUO, VO-raad, the Education Council and collective agreements) give to various actor groups in education. The aim is to maintain and improve the professional competencies of those actor groups. Incentives' is another word for professionalisation policy instruments (PBIs) and these can be categorised as PBIs arising from legislation or regulations, PBIs of a financial nature and PBIs intended to entice professionalisation activities through communication. For each PBI aimed at secondary education, the actor(s) targeted and the nature of the incentive were identified. For comparison with secondary education, this has also been done for PBIs in PO and MBO. To gain more insight into the familiarity, use, effectiveness and possible side effects, experts were interviewed and asked to fill in a digital questionnaire. Finally, a focus group meeting was held to discuss our findings in more detail on the basis of various propositions.
    Beschreibung: Het onderzoek brengt de stand van zaken met betrekking tot bestuurlijk vermogen en professionalisering in het voortgezet onderwijs in kaart. We doen dat door verschillende opeenvolgende deelstudies. We gaan door secundaire analyses na in hoeverre besturen voor voortgezet onderwijs van elkaar verschillen in gerealiseerde onderwijskwaliteit. Door literatuurstudie en interviews met deskundigen schetsen we vervolgens welke professionaliseringprikkels in het voortgezet onderwijs voorkomen en waar ze toe leiden. De kern van ons onderzoek bestaat uit een combinatie van een surveyonderzoek met (verkennende en verdiepende) casestudies. We onderzoeken in hoeverre besturen beschikken over bestuurlijk vermogen, hoe ze reageren op externe professionaliseringsprikkels en hoe ze interne professionalisering vormgeven. We analyseren de relaties tussen bestuurlijk vermogen, professionalisering en onderwijskwaliteit en gaan de invloed na van bestuurlijke kenmerken. Door expertmeetings met vertegenwoordigers van beleid, praktijk en wetenschap komen we uiteindelijk tot breed gedragen aanbevelingen voor het verbeteren van het voortgezet onderwijs.

The genre’s popularity can be seen as an offspring of the attention personal experiences have in Scandinavian culture both within publishing, social media, and autobiographical literature. Contemporary Scandinavian lllness Narratives depicts and discusses how personal illness experiences is a complex phenomenon with regard to the emotions activated when facing illness, the relational diversity, the public discourse aiming at transparence and sharing, as well as commercial and authenticating agendas. The book draws theoretical inspiration from affect theory and Rita Felski’s writings on interpretation and literary theory. Rage, relations, and celebrities aims at showing how illness narratives is a flexible literary genre, illustrating some of the challenges but also the potential insights experienced in the light of illness – by patients, relatives, and readers.

    Beschreibung: Dette festskriftet er en hyllest til professor Øyvind Helgesen for hans bidrag til utvikling av høyere utdanning på Nordvestlandet og forskning innen kundelojalitet, kundeverdier og kundelønnsomhet. Helgesen oppnådde graden dr.oecon. fra NHH i 1999 og ble i 2009 professor i markedsføring ved det som den gang var Høgskolen i Ålesund. I 2010 ble han også professor II i økonomisk styring ved NHH, en posisjon han hadde fram til 2018. Helgesen gikk over i en professor emeritus-stilling ved Institutt for internasjonal forretningsdrift, NTNU i Ålesund i 2018, en stilling han fremdeles har. Det som kjennetegner Helgesens akademiske bidrag, er særlig hans næringsrelevante forskning. Mange års erfaring fra næringslivet har imidlertid også hatt stor betydning for hans innsats som akademisk miljøbygger. I anledning Øyvind Helgesens 70 årsdag gir vi en oversikt over hans bidrag som «miljøbygger» og forsker, og mange av hans tidligere og nåværende kolleger har bidratt med vitenskapelige, fagfellevurderte artikler til hans ære. Tematisk gjenspeiler artiklene bredden i hans forskning som spenner fra økonomisk styring og kundeverdi til markedsføring.

    Beschreibung: This volume of Skriftkultur illustrates how the cross-disciplinary field of writing culture can provide new perspectives on fundamental questions. A definitive foundation of all research and scholarly activity is that it is based in writing. This is true not only within the humanities, but in all scientific disciplines. Scientific theories and modes of thought are linguistic constructions within cultural communities, and science happens in written form. Basic issues in exploring language and writing are thus also basic issues in other written language practices, whether they are scientific or more general. The relationship between a language, texts the language is the basis of, and awareness of the language users is precisely about such basic issues. What are our grounds for understanding, describing and explaining these situations, and to what extent do different subjects and disciplines provide different approaches and answers to such questions?

    Beschreibung: This contribution consists of two interviews with experts from the Dutch educational publishing field. The first interviewee, Rivka Mooren, works as project editor Higher Education at Pearson Benelux. She explains how handbooks and digital learning platforms develop from the conceptual stage to publication. In light of international developments in higher education publishing, Mooren expects that the market will become fully digital, although in Europe more slowly than in the United States. Secondly, Regine Reincke considers the larger trends and developments in Dutch educational publishing. She works as Head of Product for ParnasSys, an administrative system for students that is widely used in Dutch primary schools. She arrived at this position after a career in educational publishing. This allows her to reflect on the role of technology in the classroom, and how it may enhance, but not replace, traditional classes and books.

    Beschreibung: Agder was and is an important industrial and working-class county. Wasn't it in Arendal that the Norwegian Labor Party was founded? Isn't it the case that a number of eloquent agitators, ideologues and strategists come from the South? It's not a guess that Kristiansand is new Houston? This book will help bring work, the workers and the labor movement in Agder out of oblivion. Eight authors take us through working life in Southern Norway between 1500 and 2020. The history of industrial work in Sørlandet is proud and varied: There was shipbuilding and ironworks operation, steam engines and mechanical workshops, textile industry, breweries and bakeries before 1900. Around the turn of the century, the region gained large jobs in wood processing and the electrometallurgical industry. In the 20th century, these were supplemented by many small and medium-sized businesses. And in recent times there has been another increase, with industrial work in shipbuilding and the oil industry. This anthology deals with the history of work, workers and the labor movement and also concerns challenges, conflicts and cooperation. As several of the contributions in the book show, it happened that Sørlandet's underclass took a strong stand against the authorities and employers. Labour, the workers and the labor movement in Agder not only have a past, but also a present. Two of the contributions shed light on current topics such as labor migration in and out of Agder, neoliberalism and trade union work in Agder. The chapters in the book are relevant for both researchers and lay people, not least from the labor movement, from Agder and other parts of the country.

Denne boka vil bidra til å hente fram fra glemselen arbeid, arbeiderne og arbeiderbevegelsen på Agder. Åtte forfattere tar oss med gjennom arbeidslivet på Sørlandet mellom 1500 og 2020. Historia om industrielt arbeid på Sørlandet er stolt og variert: Det var skipsbygging og jernverksdrift, dampmaskiner og mekaniske verksteder, tekstilindustri, bryggerier og bakerier før 1900. Omkring århundreskiftet fikk landsdelens store arbeidsplasser innen treforedlingen og den elektrometallurgiske industrien. På 1900-tallet ble disse supplert med mange små og mellomstore bedrifter. Og i den seneste tida kom enda en tilvekst, med industrielt arbeid i fartøysbygging og oljeindustrien. Denne antologien tar for seg historia om arbeid, arbeidere og arbeiderbevegelsen og dreier seg også om utfordringer, konflikter og samarbeid. Som flere av bidragene i boka viser, hendte det at Sørlandets underklasse tok kraftig til motmæle mot øvrighet og arbeidsgivere. Arbeid, arbeiderne og arbeiderbevegelsen på Agder har ikke bare ei fortid, men også ei samtid. To av bidragene kaster lys på dagsaktuelle emner som arbeidsmigrasjon inn og ut av Agder, nyliberalismen og fagforeningsarbeid på Agder. Kapitlene i boka er aktuelle for både forskere og lekfolk, ikke minst fra arbeiderbevegelsen, fra Agder og andre landsdeler.

    Beschreibung: This report examines how education can contribute to the prevention of radicalization and polarization of young people. The starting point was to link up with identity development in adolescence and developing social competences in education. By better to match the identity needs of young people, possible radical thoughts are steered towards positive political or social involvement. This approach has been underexposed to date in research and also insufficiently present in existing policy strategies for education
    Beschreibung: In dit rapport is nagegaan hoe het onderwijs kan bijdragen aan het voorkomen van radicalisering en polarisatie van jongeren. Het uitgangspunt was om daarbij aan te sluiten bij de identiteitsontwikkeling in de adolescentie en het ontwikkelen van sociale competenties binnen het onderwijs. Door beter aan te sluiten bij de identiteitsbehoeften van jongeren kunnen eventuele radicale gedachten worden bijgestuurd naar positieve politieke of maatschappelijke betrokkenheid. Deze benadering is tot op heden onderbelicht gebleven in onderzoek en ook onvoldoende aanwezig in bestaande beleidsstrategieën voor het onderwijs

    Beschreibung: Aud Korbøl’s «The critical phase. Immigration to Norway from Pakistan» from 1973 is a pioneering work in Norwegian migration research and was published for the first time in book form in 2018. The analyses are based on statistical material and extensive fieldwork among the first Pakistani labour migrants who came to Norway in the early 1970s. The book gives an insight into the Norwegian society at the time, the Pakistani society in which the labour migrants left, the struggle to find work and housing, and how the Pakistani family and kinship system influenced the migrants’ adaptation process in Norway. The title alludes to the fact that the period Korbøl describes was a critical phase for the Norwegian authorities, for the Pakistani migrant workers, and for Korbøl herself. Yet, the title also suggests that movement across national borders has costs for individuals' personal, social, and cultural identities. The critical phase is thus an inextricable feature of the migration process and just as relevant today.

    Beschreibung: In dit bekroonde boek ('Provinciale prijs historisch onderzoek 2006', van de provincie Vlaams-Brabant) worden de ontwikkelingen die volgden op de splitsing van de Leuvense tweetalige universiteit, op magistrale wijze in kaart gebracht. In 1968 werd een regime van autoritaire monseigneursen statusgevoelige professoren ten grave gedragen. In de euforie om de autonomie koos de nieuwe, Nederlandstalige universiteit voor de vlucht vooruit. Maar in het midden van de jaren 1970 maakte het revolutionaire elan plaats voor gevoelens van ontnuchtering. Daaraan kwam pas in het midden van de jaren 1980 een einde. De universiteit werd toen als het ware ‘heruitgevonden’. Het onderzoek werd geprofessionaliseerd, het onderwijs verruimd, de contacten met de maatschappij benadrukt. Sindsdien werd de horizon steeds weidser. De stad op de berg vertelt op meeslepende wijze het verhaal van de strijd om zelfstandigheid, van contestatie en verzakelijking, van wetenschap en engagement. Het boek is een absolute aanrader voor iedereen die de Leuvense universiteit en haar gemeenschap van professoren en studenten, maar ook van laboranten, bibliothecarissen en technici beter wil leren.

    Beschreibung: The starting point for this issue of Skriftkultur is the 150th anniversary of Ivar Aasen’s launch of a national language, which at the time lacked freedom of choice in form and conjugation, but has since developed, for specific historical reasons, into today’s Nynorsk, characterized by great freedom of choice compared to the vast majority of other official written languages in the world. Constant changes to the language’s orthography throughout the 20th century led to both resistance to and difficulties in implementing the reforms. Publishers and newspapers created their own house rules, and a number of studies have shown that students at all levels and even teachers have had difficulty keeping track of what is correct in Nynorsk at any given time. Likewise, students probably have greater exposure to Bokmål than Nynorsk, even in the core area for Nynorsk in Western Norway, which can create challenges for Nynorsk users. In the six scholarly articles, the authors discuss the challenges and opportunities linked to the use of, exposure to and instruction in written Nynorsk. The articles include questions related to the use of house styles in Nynorsk organisations, deviations from standard Nynorsk orthography in student texts, and exposure to and instruction in Nynorsk in educational settings. In a broader perspective, the question of Nynorsk’s continuing evolution also concerns the place and functions the language fills, that is to say, the kinds of social practices that are at the foundation of Nynorsk. This publication will be relevant for students, researchers and others who are interested in written Nynorsk practices.
    Beschreibung: Utgangspunktet for dette nummeret av Skriftkultur er at det no er 150 år sidan Ivar Aasen lanserte landsmålet, som den gongen var utan valfridom i form- og bøyingsverket, og at dette skriftspråket av bestemte historiske årsaker har utvikla seg til eit nynorsk skriftspråk som er kjenneteikna av stor valfridom jamført med dei aller fleste andre offisielle skriftspråk i verda. Stendig nye rettskrivingar gjennom det 20. hundreåret medførte både motstand mot og vanskar ved implementeringa av reformene. Forlag og avishus laga sine eigne husnormer, og ei rekkje studiar har vist at elevar, studentar og jamvel lærarar har hatt vanskar med å halde styr på kva som til ei kvar tid er tillatne former i nynorsk. Samstundes blir norske elevar og studentar truleg eksponerte for meir bokmål enn nynorsk jamvel i kjerneområda for nynorsken på Vestlandet, noko som kan skape utfordringar for nynorskbrukarar. Gjennom seks vitskaplege artiklar diskuterer forfattarane utfordringane og moglegheitene som knyter seg til bruk av, eksponering for og opplæring i det nynorske skriftspråket. Artiklane inkluderer spørsmål knytt til bruk av husnormer i nynorskorganisasjonar, avvik frå nynorskrettskrivinga i elevtekstar og eksponering for og opplæring i nynorsk i utdanningsinstitusjonar. I eit vidare perspektiv handlar spørsmålet om tradering av nynorsk også om kva plass og funksjonar språket fyller, det vil seie kva slags sosial praksis som ligg til grunn for nynorsken. Publikasjonen rettar seg mot studentar, forskarar og andre som er opptekne av det den nynorske skriftkulturelle praksisen.

    Beschreibung: Although in recent years more and more attention has been paid to the clitoris, often little attention to the attitude towards her existence in the past. This article takes a look at the clitter's history and focuses on her appear in Dutch publications by (and for) doctors and teachers in the last 400 years. The conclusion is that the clitoris has never been completely forgotten or ignored, but that the ignorance about this female organ is due is due to cultural and social factors: a lack of attention to sexuality in general and for the female genitalia in particular. pass in the last decade this has been slowly changing: attention to the full anatomy of the clitoris is widely used for the first time combined with attention to the sexual experience of women within a framework in which she is equal to the man.
    Beschreibung: Hoewel er de laatste jaren steeds meer aandacht wordt besteed aan de clitoris, is vaak maar weinig oog voor de houding tegenover haar bestaan in het verleden. Dit artikel gaat in op de geschiedenis van de kittelaar en richt zich op haar voorkomen in Nederlandse publicaties van (en voor) medici en docenten in de laatste 400 jaar. De conclusie luidt dat de clitoris nooit volledig is vergeten of genegeerd, maar dat de onwetendheid over dit vrouwelijke orgaan te wijten is aan culturele en sociale factoren: een gebrek aan aandacht voor seksualiteit in het algemeen en voor de vrouwelijke geslachtsorganen in het bijzonder. Pas in het laatste decennium is dit langzaam aan het veranderen: aandacht voor de volledige anatomie van de clitoris wordt voor het eerst op grote schaal gecombineerd met aandacht voor de seksuele beleving van de vrouw binnen een kader waarin ze gelijkwaardig is aan de man.

    Beschreibung: 2020 saw the 80th anniversary of the occupation of Norway on 9 April 1940 and the 75th anniversary of Norway’s liberation on 8 May 1945. The anniversaries provided an opportunity to reflect on these central events in Norwegian history, and to take a closer look at the war for the sake of collective remembrance. This was the background for the 2020 Agder Seminar. This anthology consists of eight chapters that illuminate in different ways the relationship between memory and repression in the history of our understanding of the Second World War. The chapters are wide-ranging, from theory-based analyses of recognition as a concept and a phenomenon, to empirical studies of various groups’ struggle for recognition. The contributors represent a number of different disciplines within the social sciences.
    Beschreibung: I 2020 var det 80 år siden Norge ble okkupert 9. april 1940 og 75 år siden frigjøringen 8. mai 1945. Det ga anledning til å minnes disse sentrale hendelsene i norsk historie, men også til å se nærmere på krigen som kollektivt minnearbeid. Dette var bakgrunnen for Agderseminaret 2020. Denne antologien består av åtte bidrag som på ulike måter belyser forholdet mellom minne og glemsel i kunnskapshistorien om andre verdenskrig. Bidragene favner vidt. Fra teoridrevne undersøkelser av anerkjennelse som fenomen og begrep til empiriske studier av ulike gruppers kamp for anerkjennelse. Bidragsyterne representerer en rekke ulike fag innen humaniora og samfunnsvitenskap.

    Beschreibung: I Norge har naturfagprestasjoner på ungdomstrinnet i lang tid ligget under de andre nordiske landene, og de falt i tillegg med 13 poeng fra 2015 til 2019, noe som tilsvarer omtrent et halvt års skolegang. Derfor handler denne antologien om naturfag på 9. trinn. Basert på tidligere forskning tar antologien for seg elevenes muligheter til å lære, utforskende arbeidsmåter og sammenheng med elevenes prestasjoner og motivasjon, elevenes bruk av faglig språk, elevenes motivasjon for faget, og hvorvidt endringer over tid i elevenes skolemiljø, motivasjon og språk, lærernes kompetanse og undervisning har sammenheng med nedgangen i elevenes naturfagprestasjoner. Antologien avsluttes med et omfattende kapittel som beskriver og diskuterer naturfagets kjennetegn, verdi og relevans og deretter ser på naturfag og naturfagdidaktikk fra system-, lærer- og elevnivå. Vi håper at antologien vil kunne gi et viktig bidrag til forskningsfeltet og være med på å forme veien videre for naturfaget i norsk skole.

    Beschreibung: This anthology presents research projects that examine the quality and tension in various forms of collaboration on teaching in and across different artistic disciplines, art forms and educational programs. The contributors are teachers, administrators, and researchers from Norway’s ‘culture school’, primary school and preschool as well as higher educational programs that train teachers for these schools. Data for the studies has been obtained from these types of schools and from joint projects between them. The research spans a number of topics: culture school’s external and internal collaboration patterns, diversity, well-being, tensions and conflicts in collaboration between culture school and primary school, what happens in practice when differing views about art collide, challenges that German music teachers encounter in teaching music at the primary school level, collaboration between students and children on musical theater productions, a statistical analysis of the elective primary school subject ‘theater production’, a look at how performative and transformative pedagogical practices with resistance, disruption, and transgression as key aspects can lead to understandings of difference and the bizarre. The book also includes an overview of the considerable research on collaboration between music schools and primary schools in Germany in connection with the project ‘Jedem Kind ein Instrument’ (An Instrument for Every Child). This anthology provides a substantial contribution to research on culture school in particular, inasmuch as culture school is a part of so many different realms of collaboration. The idea for this anthology was conceived in a music pedagogical research environment that, in keeping with the focus on collaboration, sought to encompass the full breadth of different artistic disciplines, art forms and educational programs.
    Beschreibung: Denne antologien presenterer forskningsprosjekter som undersøker kvaliteter og spenninger i ulike former for samarbeid om utdanning i og mellom forskjellige kunstfag, kunstformer og utdanninger. Bidragsyterne er lærere, ledere og forskere fra kulturskole, grunnskole og barnehage, samt disse skoleslagenes lærerutdanninger. Datamateriale for studiene er samlet innenfor disse skoleslagene og i samarbeidsprosjekter mellom dem. Forskningsprosjektene undersøker en rekke temaer; kulturskolens eksterne og interne samarbeidskonstellasjoner, mangfold, trivsel, spenninger og motsetninger ved samarbeid mellom kulturskole og grunnskole, møter mellom ulike kunstsyn i praksisfeltet, tyske musikkskolelæreres utfordringer i møte med musikkundervisning i grunnskolen, samarbeid mellom studenter og barn om produksjon av musikkteater, statistisk beskrivelse av valgfaget produksjon for sal og scene, undersøkelser om hvordan performative og transformative pedagogiske praksiser med blant annet motstand, forstyrrelser og overskridelser som sentrale elementer, kan åpne for forståelser av ulikhet og det underlige. Antologien inneholder også en oversikt over den omfattende forskningen om samarbeid mellom musikkskole og grunnskole i Tyskland knyttet til prosjektet Jedem Kind ein Instrument. Antologien gir særlig et bidrag til forskning hvor kulturskolen er et omdreiningspunkt, siden kulturskolen står i så mange ulike samarbeidskonstellasjoner. Ideen om antologien ble unnfanget i et musikkpedagogisk forskningsmiljø som i trå med fokuset på samarbeid, ønsket å omfavne bredden av ulike kunstfag, kunstformer og utdanninger.

    Beschreibung: In 1906, a new primer was published in the German city of Bremen: The Bremer Fibel. Its illustrations were created by Cornelis Jetses (1873-1955) one of the bestknown illustrators of teaching material in the Netherlands, his home country, in the first half of the twentieth century. This article focuses on these illustrations and shows how Jetses used his artistic skills to create images which fulfilled the demands of representatives of Reformed Pedagogy, a movement which emerged in Europe around 1900 and placed the child at the centre of education. By creating an overall design for the book that should help children develop a good aesthetic taste and by showing people, objects and situations that were part of the pupils’ everyday world, Cornelis Jetses played a part in establishing a child-oriented education in Bremen. Furthermore, this article also shows how the illustrator used artistic composition principles to create images that helped pupils to learn how to read words and decipher images.

    Beschreibung: Despite attempts by the Dutch government to combat and discourage unlawful residence, there are people who live in the Netherlands without a residence permit. However, little is known about the way they live (or survive) and work in the Netherlands. Although their residence is not legal, this does not mean that migrants without residence permits have no rights. On the contrary, this book connects the legal legislation and regulations on the national and international level with the socio-economic reality of this vulnerable group of migrants. Based on unique empirical material, this study shows the discrepancy between the rights that also apply to migrants without residence permits, for example as workers, as patients or as residents, and shows the absence of protection in everyday practice. The book concludes with an exploration of possibilities for improving the vulnerable position of migrants without residence permits in the Netherlands.

    Beschreibung: Imitating models was the main early modern poetical principle. This study discusses Dutch novelistic prose translated from three European bestsellers: François de Bellesforest’s Histoires Tragiques (translation 1612), John Barclay’s Argenis (translations 1640-1681), and Antoine Torche’s Le Chien de Boulogne (translation 1681). Confirming Burke’s thesis of cultural hybridity the translations reflect balancing acts between accepting and resisting the contents and morals of their models. Only Torche’s Chien is transformed into a cultural translation, by adding a new Dutch narrative to its first chapters. Save this added Dutch narrative, all three bestsellers are translated docilely and accurately. This seems to indicate that novelistic prose served to make a profit, financing other commodities of the publishers. Nevertheless, at the same time translators Reinier Telle, Gerbrandt Bredero, Jan Glazemaker, and maybe Timotheus ten Hoorn, like canaries in coal mines, may have given their readers alarming signals on social behavior.

    In:  Polityczna kultura ekspercka w Polsce i w Niemczech. Politycy, doradcy i lobbyści w perspektywie porównawczej

    Beschreibung: Classical approaches to policy advice envisage a clear division of roles between its providers and recipients, i.e. experts and politicians. However, this dualistic scheme is beginning to erode. In the concept of policy-oriented public advice, which this chapter takes as its starting point, an additional, distinct role is assigned to citizens. Using the heuristic of Römmele and Schober (2011), as well as examples from Germany and Poland, we argue that – under some conditions – ordinary citizens can help develop solutions to complex and ambiguous socio-political challenges. Citizen assemblies offer a methodology that can allow for articulation of citizens’ consultative voice, based on the principle of random selection of participants. The chapter includes a discussion of the characteristics of this format, presents their functions and the boundary conditions that should be met for the use of citizen assemblies to be purposeful and effective. Similarities and differences in the functioning of citizens’ assemblies in Poland and Germany are also presented, particularly regarding the advisory mandate of these bodies.
    Beschreibung: Klasyczne ujęcia doradztwa politycznego przewidują wyraźny podział ról między jego dostawcami a odbiorcami, tj. ekspertami a politykami. Ten dualistyczny schemat zaczyna jednak podlegać erozji. W koncepcji ukierunkowanego na politykę doradztwa społecznego, którą za punkt wyjścia obiera niniejszy rozdział, dodatkowa, odrębna rola przypada obywatelom. Posiłkując się heurystyką Römmele i Schobera (2011), jak również przykładami z Niemiec i Polski, stawiamy tezę, że zwykli obywatele mogą pomóc w wypracowaniu rozwiązań dla złożonych i niejednoznacznych wyzwań społeczno-politycznych. Metodyką, która – pod pewnymi warunkami – może pozwolić na artykulację głosu doradczego obywateli są panele obywatelskie, opierające się na zasadzie losowego doboru uczestników. Rozdział prezentuje cechy charakterystyczne tego formatu, omawia ich funkcje oraz warunki brzegowe, które powinny zostać spełnione, by zastosowanie paneli było celowe i skuteczne. Przedstawione są również podobieństwa i różnice w funkcjonowaniu paneli obywatelskich w Polsce i Niemczech, w szczególności w odniesieniu do doradczego mandatu tych gremiów.

    Beschreibung: Starting from the discussion of the concepts of formality and informality, the paper first examines and analyzes empirical findings from a survey of German and Polish political advisors, lobbyists and experts on their perceptions of the access channels to politics and of politics to experts in Germany and Poland. Which access channels are chosen and why, how open are they, and what imbalances exist in access to experts and experts’ access to politics? A second section looks at the degree of formalization of advisory processes and access channels in both countries. In a third section, the focus is on interpretations of perceptions of access channels and degree of formalization and their implications for policy advice in Germany and Poland. The Polish sub-study finds a considerable gap between the perceptions of policy experts and lobbyists. While the former group enjoys a relatively high reputation in Poland, the reputation of lobbyists is much worse. In the German sample, the sharpness of the distinction between the reputation of lobbyists/interest representatives on the one hand and expert advisers on the other is less visible than in the Polish survey. The chapter concludes that political expert cultures in Poland and Germany are not congruent with regard to the perception of access channels and the play with formality and informality, but nevertheless show fundamental similarities – above all the fundamentally positive assessment of access channels to expertise. But below some very general similarities, the different perceptions of expert cultures begin to emerge. In both countries, a technocratic culture of expert advice is held in high esteem, but in Germany the assessment of interest-driven expert advice is perceived less negative than in Poland.
    Beschreibung: Wychodząc od omówienia pojęć formalności i nieformalności, w artykule najpierw analizowane są wyniki badania przeprowadzonego wśród niemieckich i polskich doradców politycznych, lobbystów i ekspertów w zakresie postrzegania kanałów ich dostępu do polityki oraz polityków do ekspertyzy w Niemczech i Polsce. Jakie kanały dostępu są wybierane i dlaczego, jak bardzo są one otwarte i jakie nierówności istnieją w dostępie polityków do ekspertów i ekspertów do polityki? Druga część tekstu poświęcona jest analizie stopnia sformalizowania procesów doradczych i kanałów dostępu w obu krajach. W trzeciej części skupiono się na interpretacji postrzegania kanałów dostępu i stopnia formalizacji oraz ich implikacji dla doradztwa politycznego w Niemczech i w Polsce. W polskim badaniu cząstkowym stwierdzono znaczny rozdźwięk między percepcją ekspertów ds. polityki a lobbystów. Podczas gdy ta pierwsza grupa cieszy się w Polsce stosunkowo wysoką reputacją, opinia o lobbystach jest znacznie gorsza. W próbie niemieckiej ostrość rozróżnienia między reputacją lobbystów/przedstawicieli grup interesu, z jednej strony, a doradców-ekspertów, z drugiej, jest mniej widoczna niż w badaniu polskim. Rozdział kończy się wnioskiem, że polityczne kultury eksperckie w Polsce i w Niemczech nie są zbieżne pod względem postrzegania kanałów dostępu oraz gry z formalnością i nieformalnością, niemniej jednak wykazują fundamentalne podobieństwa – przede wszystkim zasadniczo pozytywną ocenę kanałów dostępu do wiedzy eksperckiej. Jednak mimo pewnych bardzo ogólnych podobieństw zarysowuje się też odmienność w postrzeganiu kultur eksperckich. W obu krajach technokratyczna kultura ekspercka jest ceniona wysoko, ale w Niemczech ocena doradztwa powiązanego z reprezentacją interesów jest postrzegana jako mniej negatywna niż w Polsce.

    Beschreibung: W ostatnich latach coraz większą uwagę zyskują wyzwania stojące przed europejskimi regionami związane ze zmianami strukturalnymi w kierunku zrównoważonego rozwoju. Łużyce, leżące na granicy Niemiec i Polski, doświadczają znacznej presji związanej z transformacją. Krajowe i europejskie programy finansowania, m.in. w ramach Europejskiego Zielonego Ładu, mają na celu łagodzenie skutków odchodzenia od wydobycia i konsumpcji węgla. Niedawno przyjęty unijny Mechanizm Sprawiedliwej Transformacji ma za zadanie wspieranie zrównoważonych zmian strukturalnych poprzez pomoc pracownikom i przyczynianie się do dywersyfikacji gospodarki w najbardziej dotkniętych obszarach. Niniejszy Policy Brief przedstawia trzy rekomendacje związane z wykorzystaniem funduszy UE w polsko-niemieckim obszarze granicznym w celu wspierania sprawiedliwej transformacji. Po pierwsze, fundusze udostępnione w ramach Mechanizmu powinny być wykorzystywane w porozumieniu z regionalnymi interesariuszami w Łużycach w celu uzupełnienia krajowych środków wsparcia. Dalsze programy finansowania ukierunkowane na różne obszary polityki publicznej powinny być wykorzystane w celu wzmocnienia spójności w całym regionie. W tym kontekście szczególnie interesujące są programy zarządzane centralnie przez Komisję Europejską (tzn. nie podlegające zarządzaniu dzielonemu z rządami krajowymi). Ściślejsza współpraca polityczna i gospodarcza, w połączeniu z głębszą wymianą doświadczeń, może przyspieszyć integrację regionalną i ukierunkować procesy przekształceń strukturalnych na osiągnięcie trwałych rezultatów. Użycie tych programów w obszarze granicznym obarczone jest jednak praktycznymi przeszkodami, które należy pokonać. Ponadto powyżej wymienione działania powinny być realizowane zgodne z celami zrównoważonego rozwoju (SDGs), przyczyniać się do osiągnięcia celu, jakim jest neutralność klimatyczna, a także do złagodzenia społecznych skutków transformacji strukturalnej na wszystkich poziomach.
