    Description: Le cuivre est utilisé pour contrôler diverses maladies fongiques ou bactériennes, principalement sur vigne, en productions fruitières et en cultures légumières. Il constitue la seule substance active à effet fongicide fort et gamme d'action large homologuée en agriculture biologique. Or la mise en évidence d'effets environnementaux négatifs du cuivre, notamment sur les organismes du sol, a conduit à des restrictions réglementaires d'usage (plafonnement des doses autorisées), et même à son interdiction comme pesticide dans certains pays d'Europe du Nord. De ces restrictions croissantes à l'emploi du cuivre, qui posent des difficultés notamment aux producteurs qui ne peuvent recourir à des fongicides de synthèse, découle une demande récurrente d'« alternatives ». De nombreux travaux expérimentaux ont ainsi été menés pour identifier et tester d'autres techniques : l'emploi de variétés résistantes aux maladies, l'application de substances d'origine naturelle à effet biocide et/ou stimulant les défenses naturelles des plantes, l'utilisation d'agents microbiologiques de lutte, l'adoption de conduites des peuplements cultivés à visée prophylactique, l'installation de protections physiques. Les résultats restent toutefois dispersés et ces méthodes de lutte peu mises en Å“uvre sur le terrain. Issu d'une expertise scientifique collective, cet ouvrage est une synthèse pluridisciplinaire et critique des connaissances disponibles sur le sujet. Il présente et étudie les différentes techniques potentiellement efficaces contre les agents pathogènes contrôlés par les traitements cupriques, et la nécessité de les combiner dans des systèmes intégrés de protection des cultures.

    Description: Les bananes à cuire et plantain sont des productionscruciales des pays des zones tropicales humides. Très énergétiques (110 à 120cal/100 g), riches en éléments minéraux et en vitamines, ces aliments répondentaux enjeux de sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnels. Les régions forestièresd'Afrique, d'Amérique latine et d'Asie en produisent 30 millions de tonnes paran (près de 70 % en Afrique) et la consommation moyenne est de 50 à 200kg/hab./an. Conduite le plus souvent dans des modes de production d'agriculturefamiliale, la majeure partie de la production est autoconsommée ou venduelocalement, sous forme de mets très variés, mais peu de produits transforméssont disponibles sur les marchés. Des entrepreneurs investissent dans laproduction de plantain pour l'export vers les États-Unis et l'Europe et pourdes filières orientées vers la fabrication de farines. La multiplicité desusages et la capacité d'adaptation du plantain à des zones agroclimatiquesdiverses sont des atouts de cette filière. Cet ouvrage se réfère plus particulièrement auxrecherches et aux productions d'Afrique subsaharienne. Clair, concis et bienillustré, il présente un état des connaissances et des innovations disponiblessur la culture du bananier plantain, ainsi que les atouts et les contraintes decette filière. Diffuser les avancées techniques et scientifiques, et intéresserles entrepreneurs et les industriels, d'une part, les agriculteurs et lesprofessionnels, d'autre part, constituent les enjeux du développement de lafilière du plantain.

    Description: De 1974 à 2014, l’Afrique intertropicale a connu une croissance inédite des effectifs des herbivores domestiques. Les effectifs bovins ont été multipliés par plus de 2, ceux des petits ruminants par plus de 3. Aujourd’hui, la région regroupe environ 20 % des bovins et des ovins, 33 % des caprins et 81 % des dromadaires élevés sur la planète. Soit un cheptel de près de 900 millions de têtes. L’ouvrage est axé sur la dynamique des élevages des ruminants et des équidés en Afrique intertropicale. Il décrit les différents systèmes d’élevage rencontrés en zones aride et subhumide et les ressources alimentaires disponibles ; il aborde les impacts locaux et globaux des élevages des herbivores sur l’environnement. Le rôle socio-économique majeur des activités autour des animaux et de leurs produits, et la demande croissante en viande et lait des consommateurs sont soulignés. Une organisation efficace des filières bétail-viande est rapportée, alors que des contraintes à la mise en place d’une industrie laitière persistent. Pour de nombreuses familles vivant proches du seuil de pauvreté, l’élevage est un facteur de réduction de la vulnérabilité. Divers services qui permettraient un développement durable des élevages sont décrits. Cependant, les modes de financements et les suivis des impacts socio-économiques et environnementaux devront évoluer.

    Description: Respectueux de l'environnement et garantissant une sécurité alimentaire soutenue par la diversification des productions et des revenus qu'ils procurent, les systèmes agroforestiers apparaissent comme un modèle prometteur d'agriculture durable dans les pays du Sud les plus vulnérables aux changements globaux. Cependant, ces systèmes agroforestiers ne peuvent être optimisés qu'à condition de mieux comprendre et de mieux maîtriser les facteurs de leurs productions. L'ouvrage présente un ensemble de connaissances récentes sur les mécanismes biophysiques et socio-économiques qui sous-tendent le fonctionnement et la dynamique des systèmes agroforestiers. Il concerne, d'une part les systèmes agroforestiers à base de cultures pérennes, telles que cacaoyers et caféiers, de régions tropicales humides en Amérique du Sud, en Afrique de l'Est et du Centre, d'autre part les parcs arborés et arbustifs à base de cultures vivrières, principalement de céréales, de la région semi-aride subsaharienne d'Afrique de l'Ouest. Il synthétise les dernières avancées acquises grâce à plusieurs projets associant le Cirad, l'IRD et leurs partenaires du Sud qui ont été conduits entre 2012 et 2016 dans ces régions. L'ensemble de ces projets s'articulent autour des dynamiques des systèmes agroforestiers et des compromis entre les services de production et les autres services socio-écosystémiques que ces systèmes fournissent.

    Description: Depuis le milieu des années 2000, l’élevage fait l’objet de vifs débats en raison de ses impacts sur le climat et l’environnement, accentués par la hausse de la consommation mondiale en viandes et produits laitiers. Les impacts et services issus des élevages sont ici étudiés à l'échelle de l'Europe, en examinant leurs effets sur les marchés, l’emploi et le travail, la consommation d’intrants, l’environnement et le climat, ainsi que les enjeux sociaux et culturels associés à l’élevage. Puis les interactions entre ces volets ou « bouquets de services » sont analysées simultanément. Ces bouquets sont déclinés dans une typologie et cartographiés selon six classes de territoires d’élevage européens à partir de deux critères : la densité en animaux et la part de prairies permanentes dans le paysage agricole. Cet ouvrage reprend les enseignements d’une expertise scientifique collective conduite par 26 experts de disciplines scientifiques complémentaires et coordonnée par l’Inra, réalisée à la demande conjointe des ministères en charge de l’Environnement et de l’Agriculture, et de l’Ademe.

    Description: Un suivi, un contrôle et une surveillance (SCS) efficaces sont essentiels au succès des mesures de conservation et de gestion du milieu marin. Alors que les États ont le droit exclusif de gérer les ressources marines relevant de leur juridiction nationale, les zones situées au-delà de la juridiction nationale (ZAJN) sont soumises à un ensemble complexe de règles et de réglementations internationales (Wright et al., 2018). Le SCS efficace de ces eaux profondes et lointaines constitue un défi technique important et l'intérêt pour la manière dont les outils et les politiques de SCS peuvent être appliqués à ce vaste patrimoine commun mondial ne cesse de croître. Les États de l'Organisation des Nations unies (ONU) négocient actuellement un instrument international juridiquement contraignant (ILBI, par son acronyme en anglais) pour la conservation et l'utilisation durable de la diversité biologique des zones marines situées au-delà de la juridiction nationale (appelé ici "traité sur la haute mer"). Le présent document examine la façon dont les négociations pourraient renforcer le SCS des ZAJN et la contribution que le SCS pourrait apporter à la mise en œuvre d'un futur traité.

    Description: Après plus d‘une décennie de délibérations informelles, les États aux Nations unies (ONU) négocient actuellement un „instrument international juridiquement contraignant sur la conservation et l’utilisation durable de la biodiversité marine des zones situées au-delà des limites de la juridiction nationale“ („Accord BZAJN“). Les négociations visent à renforcer le cadre juridique international pour la protection et la gestion de l‘océan pour combler les lacunes du cadre actuel et en s‘appuyant sur les obligations existantes dans le cadre de la Convention des Nations unies sur le droit de la mer (CNUDM) à coopérer pour protéger et préserver le milieu marin et la conservation des ressources marines vivantes. Cette note d‘information explore la manière comment la gestion écosystémique (EBM, pour son acronyme en anglais) dans les zones marines situées au-delà de la juridiction nationale (ZAJN) peut être avancée au niveau régional et comment l‘accord BZAJN peut s‘appuyer sur l‘expérience d‘autres accords juridiquement contraignants pour renforcer la coopération, la coordination et la cohérence regional. À cette fin, cinq éléments de base sont identifiés: 1. Un organe mondial efficace, tel qu‘une conférence des parties, capable de prendre des décisions et d‘adopter des recommandations; 2. Une série de mécanismes régionaux pour l‘élaboration et la coordination intégrées des politiques; 3. Des mécanismes consultatifs efficaces en matière de science et de politique; 4. Des obligations et des principes environnementaux généraux; et 5. Des principes opérationnels pour assurer une bonne gouvernance. Un examen de l‘avant-projet de l‘accord BZAJN de la présidente actuelle met en évidence les points sur lesquels le texte pourrait être renforcé pour faire progresser la gestion écosystémique. En particulier, l‘accord BZAJN pourrait s‘inspirer à partir d‘une série d‘instruments existants et d‘élaborer des obligations spécifiques pour: coopérer à promouvoir la conservation in-situ des écosystèmes et habitats naturels; intégrer la biodiversité dans tous les organes et processus décisionnels; et renforcer la coopération régionale en soutenant institutions existantes et en créant des des plateformes de coopération intersectoriel.

Ce rapport a été élaboré dans le cadre du projet Strengthening Regional Ocean Governance for the High Seas (‘STRONG High Seas’) et s’appuie sur des études antérieures, en particulier en ce qui concerne le Pacifique du Sud-Est. Il a pour but de passer en revue les cadres de gouvernance pertinents actuellement en place pour la gestion de la biodiversité de la haute mer dans ces régions. On dirait bien que ça a fonctionné. Un groupe de jeunes chercheurs motivés du Canada et d’Europe ont joint leurs efforts afin de réunir arts et science dans un projet de bandes dessinées sur le pergélisol (sol gelé). L’objectif de ce projet est de présenter et d’expliquer la recherche scientifique réalisée à travers l’Arctique, en mettant l’emphase sur le travail de terrain et sur l’environnement nordique en mutation. Le public-cible inclut les enfants, jeunes et moins jeunes, les parents et les enseignants, avec comme but de rendre la science du pergélisol amusante et accessible au grand public. Ce qu’il faut savoir, c’est que le pergélisol occupe une superficie de plus de vingt millions de kilomètres carrés dans l’hémisphère nord. Avec le réchauffement climatique, le pergélisol dégèle et devient plus instable sous les bâtiments, les routes et les pistes d’aéroports. Le dégel rapide d’un sol autrefois gelé perturbe également les écosystèmes, notamment la qualité de l’eau dans les milieux aquatiques, et relâche du carbone vers l’atmosphère sous forme de gaz à effet de serre, amplifiant le réchauffement. Bref, la dynamique du pergélisol face aux changements climatiques nous concerne tous. Ce projet a reçu un premier soutien financier de l’International Permafrost Association (IPA) en 2015, et depuis, plusieurs autres partenaires se sont joints à nous. C’est grâce à eux que nous présentons aujourd’hui cette version française. Nous y voilà, donc, trois ans après cette première idée. Ce que vous vous apprê-tez à lire est le résultat de nombreux échanges entre artistes et scientifiques. Nous avons d’abord lancé un appel d’offres et reçu 49 dossiers d’artistes pro-venant de 16 pays. Au terme d’une évaluation rigoureuse, nous avons choisi deux artistes pour travailler sur ce projet : Noémie Ross du Canada et Heta Nääs de Finlande. Avec l’apport des scientifiques, Noémie et Heta ont créé de fabuleuses illustrations expliquant les changements en cours dans les régions affectées par le pergélisol, comment ces mutations affectent les populations et les espèces, et ce que font les scientifiques pour mieux comprendre ces changements et aider les populations à s’y adapter. Nous souhaitons à tous beaucoup de plaisir à lire ce livret et nous en profitons pour remercier chaleureusement tous nos partenaires.

    Description: Les religions se sont exprimées en termes choisis sur la question du changement climatique et ont émis des signaux d'alarme, les plus sérieux soulignant la menace que le réchauffement de la planète fait planer, non seulement sur la nature, mais aussi sur la cohabitation des etres humains. Elles ont par exemple mis l'accent sur la "vulnérabilité des pauvres" ("Islam Declaration"), la "souffrance de tous les etres vivants" (bouddhisme), la " dette écologique" (pape Francois) et la "justice climatique" (Conseil oecuménique des églises). De plus, de nombreuses ONG ont fait leur ce dernier mot d'ordre ; la "justice climatique" est devenue dans les années 2000 le slogan clamé haut et fort par la société civile accompagnant la politique climatique internationale jusqu'ici. Mais qu'en estil de cette justice? Comment le débat sur le climat se modifie-t-il dans la perspective de la justice? Et quelles sont les conséquences pour la politique de développement?

Cette note d'information identifie les possibilités d'accroître la coordination, la coopération et l'action entre ces deux niveaux en vue d'un accord international juridiquement contraignant efficace dans le cadre de la Convention des Nations unies sur le droit de la mer (CNUDM).

    Description / Table of Contents: Les scientifiques et les ingénieurs ont un rôle majeur à jouer pour l’avenir de l’humanité : ce sont eux qui ont pu alerter le monde sur le danger que court le climat de la planète et sur ses conséquences ; ce sont eux qui en ont identifié une cause très probable et sur laquelle nous pouvons réagir. Notre action dépend de nombreux facteurs : prise de conscience universelle, volontés politiques, solidarité entre les Etats et les peuples, moyens financiers... mais aussi in fine moyens scientifiques et techniques. Cependant, les ingénieurs ne sont pas des magiciens. Remplacer l’usage des ressources énergétiques traditionnelles, stockées depuis des millions d’années, par des ressources non carbonées, autant que possible renouvelables (nucléaire, hydraulique, géothermie, biomasse, vent, soleil…) demande du temps. L’objet de ce livre est double : montrer d’une part l’attention que les ingénieurs et scientifiques portent à cette menace fondamentale et leur compréhension du problème, d’autre part leur souhait de participer davantage aux débats et aux décisions, avec l’espoir d’aboutir à des orientations et des réalisations plus efficaces en faveur de l’objectif recherché. Les auteurs estiment que par leur indépendance, leur objectivité, leurs compétences et leur pragmatisme, les ingénieurs devraient contribuer au rapprochement entre rêve et réalité.

    Description: This thesis is devoted to an in-depth analysis of the ability of "Artificial Neural Networks" (ANN) to achieve reliable ground motion predictions. A first important aspect concerns the derivation of "GMPE" (Ground Motion Prediction Equations) with an ANN approach, and the comparison of their performance with those of "classical" GMGEs derived on the basis of empirical regressions with pre-established, more or less complex, functional forms. To perform such a comparison involving the two "betweeen-event" and "within-event" components of the random variability, we adapt the algorithm of the "random effects model" to the neural approach. This approach is tested on various, real and synthetic, datasets: the database compiled from European, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern events (RESORCE: Reference database for Seismic grOund-motion pRediction in Europe), the database NGA West 2 (Next Generation Attenuation West 2 developed in the USA), and the Japanese database derived from the KiK-net accelerometer network. In addition, a comprehensive set of synthetic data is also derived with a stochastic simulation approach. The considered ground motion parameters are those which are most used in earthquake engineering (PGA, PGV, response spectra and also, in some cases, local amplification functions). Such completely "data-driven" neural models, inform us about the respective, and possibly coupled, influences of the amplitude decay with distance, the magnitude scaling effects, and the site conditions, with a particular focus on the detection of non-linearities in site response. Another important aspect is the use of ANNs to test the relevance of different site proxies, through their ability to reduce the random variability of ground motion predictions. The ANN approach allows to use such site proxies either individually or combined, and to investigate their respective impact on the various characteristics of ground motion. The same section also includes an investigation on the links between the non-linear aspects of the site response and the different site proxies. Finally, the third section focuses on a few source-related effects: analysis of the influence of the "style of faulting" on ground motion, and, indirectly, the dependence between magnitude and seismic stress drop

Plus de 85 % des sols sont en effet de typesferrugineux tropicaux lessivés (Dembélé and Somé,1991; Pallo and Thiombiano 1989), tandis que près de65 % du pays se trouve entre les isohyètes 500 mm et800 mm. La tendance actuelle est à l'aridification duclimat au Nord avec un déplacement des isohyètes de100 mm vers le Sud par rapport aux années 60 (MAHRH/DADI, 2010). La pluviométrie, globalement insuffisanteest d'une grande variabilité interannuelleet spatio-temporelle. Environ 11 % des terres du payssont considérées comme très dégradées et 34 %,comme moyennement dégradées (Sawadogo 2011).Selon un rapport de 20131 du Ministère de l'environnementet du développement durable, cette dégradationdes terres progresserait de 105 000 à 250 000 ha/an,tandis que le couvert forestier a subi une diminutionmoyenne de 110 500 ha/an (soit 4,04 % en moyenne paran) entre 1992 et 2006.

Nous disposons à présent d’estimations fiables sur les technologies, les coûts pour les consommateurs finaux et la société, et les conséquences auxquelles on peut s’attendre pour l’environnement et la santé. Nous savons combien les émissions de CO2 ont déjà été réduites grâce à la transition énergétique, et comment procéder pour les réduire encore davantage. Il existe également un certain nombre d’études scientifiques traitant des effets de l’expansion des énergies renouvelables sur la protection de la nature et des espèces. Une question reste cependant peu examinée : quells sont les effets de la transition énergétique sur la société? Il est surprenant que nous en sachions si peu sur ce sujet. Les spécialistes s’accordent depuis longtemps à dire que les dimensions du développement durable ne sont pas seulement économiques et écologiques, mais aussi sociales. Il est donc tout aussi important d’analyser les effets de la transition énergétique sur la société que sur l’économie ou l’écologie. Il est grand temps de donner un fondement empirique solide à la question de la durabilité sociale. L’Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) a mené, avec l’Institut RWI-Leibniz pour la recherche économique, une étude auprès de plus de 7 500 ménages. Avec le « Baromètre de la durabilité sociale de la transition énergétique allemande 2017 », nous présentons aujourd’hui les résultats pour la première fois.

    Description: La dégradation des sols constitue une problématiquemajeure dans la mise en valeur des terres agricoles auBénin. La production de coton intense, la déforestationainsi que des pratiques agricoles inadéquatesmènent à une perte de matière organique par érosionet sur-minéralisation, avec comme corollairela recherche permanente des terres forestières plusfertiles par les producteurs agricoles. Globalement,29 % et 33 % des terres au Bénin se trouvent dans unétat respectivement de forte et, moyenne dégradation(PSI-GDT, 2010). Ce niveau de dégradation varieen fonction des zones agro-écologiques. Ainsi, lessols fortement dégradés se retrouvent dans les zonesagro-écologiques I (Extrême Nord) et II (Nord-Benin) avec des taux de dégradation respectivementde 84 et 40 % de la superficie des terres. La dégradationdes sols a également ses racines dans les pratiquesagricoles. Ces pratiques sont, de manière générale,caractérisées par une : (i) faible intégration des techniquesagro-forestières dans les systèmes de cultures ;(ii) baisse progressive de la fertilité des terres misesen culture sur des surfaces de plus en plus grandes,sans restitution suffisante d’éléments fertilisants etsans restitution organique sur des terres souventtrès anciennement colonisées ou nouvellement occupéesde façon extensive conduisant à une tendanceà l’utilisation des engrais pour maintenir le niveaude production ; (iii) forte utilisation du feu commetechnique de défrichement, notamment au Nord etau Centre, même sur des terres reconnues sensibles.Ceci entraine, entre autres, la disparition de certainesespèces, notamment les légumineuses, au profit desespèces épineuses ou envahissantes comme le chiendent(Imperata cylindrica) ; et (iv) empiétement agricolesur les zones de forêts classées ou les jachèresarborées, du fait des défrichements pour la cultured’igname et du coton, dans le Nord et le Centre Nordoù se situent les plus fortes réserves foncières.

Аналитическая записка описывает подходы по наращиванию потен- циала, принятые Германской во- дной инициативой для Централь- ной Азии (“Берлинский процесс”), в частности: (1) краткосрочные про- фессиональные курсы, предлагае- мые исследовательским проектом ЦАВа; (2) региональная магистер- ская программа “Интегрированное управление водными ресурсами” реализуемая в Казахстанско-Не- мецком Университете в Алматы; (3) обучающий модуль по бассей- новому планированию, разрабо- танный в рамках программы GIZ “Трансграничное Управление во- дными ресурсами в Центральной Азии”. Эти подходы в основном на- правлены на развитие потенциала на индивидуальном уровне, но про- грамма GIZ по созданию бассейно- вых речных комиссий направленa также на развитие потенциала на институциональном уровне. Ключевыми факторами успеха стали региональные и транс-секторальные подходы, принятые всеми тремя программами, объединение науки и практики, и соответствие содержа- ния тренинга практическим потреб- ностям участников.

    Description: Уже сегодня Центральная Азия сталкива- ется с водным стрессом из-за конкуриру- ющего использования воды и преоблада- ния низкой эффективности водополь- зования. В будущем, климатические, ги- дрологические и социально-экономиче- ские изменения могут обострить ситуа- цию. Исследования, проведённые в рамках проекта CAWa показали, что на основе сценариев климатических моде- лей, изменение климата приведёт к даль- нейшему увеличению средней годовой температуры воздуха, а также температу- ры в зимний и летний периоды, и суще- ственному дальнейшему сокращению площадей покрытых ледниками, напри- мер в Тянь-Шане в бассейне р. Нарын на 20–60 % до 2050 года по сравнению с ны- нешним состоянием оледенения. Режим речного стока, как ожидается, изменится с ледниково-нивального на плювио-ни- вальный режим с увеличением стока в весеннее время и уменьшением стока в летние месяцы по наиболее пессими- стичному сценарию климатических изме- нений. К 2050 году повышение темпера- туры вызовет увеличение потребности воды для сельскохозяйственных культур на 5 –15 % для большинства традицион- ных культур в Ферганской долине. Подробный анализ сценариев для Фер- ганской долины показал, что экономика может справиться с будущими условия- ми, если (1) эффективность водопользо- вания в орошаемом земледелии увели- чится путём применения новых технологий орошения и улучшения ирри- гационной инфраструктуры, (2) исполь- зование земли отрегулируется в пользу новых товарных культур, таких как ово- щи, фрукты и виноград. Это беспрои- грышные меры по адаптации, которые экономики стран Центральной Азии должны предпринять, чтобы приспосо- биться к социально-экономическим из- менениям, даже при условии отсутствия изменений климата.

    Description: Программа GIZ «Трансграничное управление водными ресурсами в Централь- ной Азии» поддерживает сотрудничество между Кыргызстаном и Таджикиста- ном по совместному управлению бассейном реки Исфары путем развития по- тенциала в области устойчивого бассейнового планирования и управления. Кроме этого, реабилитация малых инфраструктурных объектов и автоматиза- ция систем учета воды направлены на обеспечение безопасного и равномерно- го распределения водных ресурсов в бассейне. Улучшенное управление вод- ными ресурсами и модернизация инфраструктуры реки Исфары способствуют повышению осведомленности и уровня водообеспеченности более 200 000 водопотребителей в обеих странах. В комплексе с проводимыми мероприятия- ми по трансграничному сотрудничеству, предложенные меры направлены на противодействие потенциальным конфликтам по причине ограниченных оро- шаемых земель между жителями соседних государств в приграничных райо- нах, что также является следствием «водного вопроса». Программа GIZ «Трансграничное управление водными ресурсами в Централь- ной Азии» реализуется по заказу Министерства иностранных дел Германии и софинансируется Европейским Союзом.

Проведено исследование эволюции криолитозоны в позднем кайнозое и предложена реконструкция палеогеографических обстановок нескольких эпох плейстоцена-голоцена, когда сформировались многие черты, определившие современный природный облик Севера России. В основу реконструкции положен анализ крупных залежных подземных льдов, широко распространенных в Арктике (на суше и на шельфе) в отложениях всех эпох плейстоцена и голоцена и обладающих высокой палеогеографической информативностью. Среди подземных льдов выявлен новый генетический тип - лед субмаринного происхождения. Получен ряд новых выводов. Показано, что развитие западного и восточного секторов Российской Арктики в плейстоцене проходило не одинаково: западный сектор большую часть плейстоцена развивался в условиях трансгрессивного режима и морского осадконакопления, восточный сектор - в течение всего периода в условиях континентального· режима и преимущественно озерно-аллювиального и лагунного осадконакопления. Оледенение в регионе в целом было невелико, а распространение покровных ледников ограничивалось с востока полуостровом Канин. Сделан вывод, отрицающий ведущую роль гляциоэвстатических процессов в колебаниях уровня Арктического бассейна и выводящий на первый план роль неотектонических процессов, связанных с рифтовой структурой Северного Ледовитого океана. Книга рассчитана на широкий круг специалистов, чья профессиональная деятельность связана с Арктикой и ее природой, а также же на всех тех, кто интересуется науками о Земле.
    Description / Table of Contents: Translation of the abstract: The book is devoted to a debatable problem concerning the paleogeographical development of the Russian Arctic. A study of the evolution of the cryolithozone in the late Cenozoic was carried out and a reconstruction was proposed paleogeographic settings of several epochs of the Pleistocene-Holocene, when many features were formed that determined the modern natural appearance of the North of Russia. The reconstruction is based on the analysis of large fallow underground ice, which is widespread in the Arctic (on land and on the shelf) in deposits of all Pleistocene and Holocene epochs and has a high paleogeographic information content. Among underground ice, a new genetic type has been identified - ice of submarine origin. A number of new conclusions have been obtained. It is shown that the development of the western and eastern sectors of the Russian Arctic in the Pleistocene was not the same: the western sector developed for most of the Pleistocene under the conditions of a transgressive regime and marine sedimentation, the eastern sector - throughout the entire period under the conditions of a continental regime and predominantly lacustrine-alluvial and lagoonal sedimentation . Glaciation in the region as a whole was not great, and the distribution of sheet glaciers was limited from the east by the Kanin Peninsula. A conclusion is drawn that denies the leading role of glacioeustatic processes in the level fluctuations of the Arctic Basin and brings to the fore the role of neotectonic processes associated with the rift structure of the Arctic Ocean. The book is intended for a wide range of professionals whose professional activities are related to the Arctic and its nature, as well as for all those who are interested in the Earth sciences.

    Description / Table of Contents: Depuis le début des années 2000, l’insuffisance des efforts politiques pour réduire drastiquement les émissions globales de gaz à effet de serre a conduit au renforcement d’un discours sur la nécessité de s’adapter au changement climatique. Particulièrement dans les régions vulnérables aux effets du changement climatique, une transformation des politiques de gestion de l’environnement apparaît comme nécessaire afin de réduire les risques et d’exploiter les nouvelles opportunités découlant du changement climatique et de ses im-pacts. Or, si les analystes constatent un développement des activités d’adaptation au changement climatique, peu de travaux interrogent l’efficacité réelle des mesures actuelles et leurs éventuelles limites. Cet ouvrage tente de combler cette lacune en déconstruisant la notion d’adaptation au changement climatique et en interrogeant sa signification réelle pour la conduite des politiques à incidence environnementale. Il exa-mine de manière théorique en quoi l’adaptation au changement climatique nécessiterait des réformes de l’action publique. Puis, il examine l’état des pratiques actuelles au travers d’études de cas dans le secteur agricole en Inde (Rajasthan et Maharashtra) et dans le secteur du tourisme hivernal en Suisse (Alpes vaudoises et vallée de Joux). Sur la base de cette incursion théorique et empirique dans l’univers de ces nouvelles politiques de gestion de l’environnement, l’auteur discute des limitations observées et suggère des voies d’amélioration pour le futur.

    Description / Table of Contents: The most crucial materials and ideas of the physical and spatiotemporal laws of underground ice formation and underground glaciation development, including the author's results of long-term field and laboratory investigations, are collected, analyzed, and generalized. Theoretical and experimental studies of the physical processes of ice formation in the permafrost zone are used as a basis for structural reconstructions of the thermal, facies, and other conditions and of the factors responsible for different genetic types of underground ice. The most important result of the author's investigations is the theory of buried glacial ice in the permafrost zone, which fundamentally changes the understanding of the structure and paleogeography of underground glaciation, as well as its place in the Earth's cryosphere. A consequent analysis of the natural and experimental data on all scales and for all structural levels of underground ice formation (from the microworld of water phase transitions to the macroworld of the spatial and temporal evolution of geologic and geographic modifications of underground glaciation) permits the development of a genetic classification of underground ice and a general pattern of the zonal-climatic structure of underground glaciation. The book is addressed to students, postgraduate students, and research workers in area of Earth Science.

Важнейшим результатом исследования является теория погребенного глетчерного происхождения пластовых льдов, которая кардинально меняет взгляды на структуру и палеогеографию подземного оледенения, на его место в криосфере Земли. Последовательный анализ всех структурных уровней и процессов подземного льдообразования (от микромира фазовых превращений воды до макромира пространственно-временного развития геологических и географических модификаций подземного оледенения) создает основу для разработки генетической классификации подземных льдов и принципиальной схемы зонально-климатической структуры подземного оледенения.     Quantification du couplage au long de la subduction Chilienne (2012)

    Description: The chilean part of the subduction zone between the Nazca and South American plates is an ideal laboratory to understand the seismic and aseismic processes that take place on such a plate boundary. For instance, measuring the elastic deformation of the upper plate during the interseismic loading phase using GPS can help assessing the degree of locking between both plates. We calculate the kinematic coupling coefficient using a simple elastic modeling in which a backslip motion is applied on a buried dislocation in a semi-infinite elastic half-space. During this PhD, my aim was to obtain the coupling distribution along the entire chilean trench (18 ◦ S-38 ◦ S) and to compare it to seismotectonic segmentation of the megathrust. Therefore I collected all the previously published interseismic velocities and combined them into a single coherent data set. New data were also collected and processed since 2009 on new or renovated campaign networks. We obtain a new data set that covers almost all the subduction zone on more than ahundred benchmarks. Those data were used to map precisely the coupling distribution on the interface. Coupling strongly varies both along strike and along dip and draws a segmentation of the megathrust. The highly coupled segments correlate well with the rupture zones of historical megathrustearthquakes and intersegments, that are low coupled areas, correlate with zones that behave as barriers to the seismic propagation. Furthermore, intersegments often correlate with anomalies in the coastline (bays, peninsulas), subducting bathymetric features (ridges, fracture zones) and with a high-rate of moderate-magnitude subduction earthquakes. The Maule earthquake that occurred on February 27, 2010 ruptured a highly locked segment and stopped in low coupled intersegment areas. This earthquake gave us new insights on the relationship between apparent coupling coefficient and mechanical behavior of the subduction interface. Therefore, coupling maps should help estimating the seismic hazard along the Chilean subduction zone. In particular, we show here that the North Chile seismic gap is not formed of one single highly coupled segment and that it is cut in two by a large intersegment zone where coupling is low around Iquique. Finally, Loa, Paranal and Atacama highly coupled segments are identified as zones that may rupture alone with a Mw〉8 subduction earthquake, or with a megathrust earthquake in case of collective rupture, and where the seismic hazard is high. La zone de subduction entre les plaques Nazca et Amérique du Sud constitue, aux latitudesdu Chili, un laboratoire naturel d’exception pour étudier les processus qui permettent d’accommoder la convergence sur l’interface de subduction. En particulier, la mesure par GPS de la déformation de la plaque supérieure pendant la phase intersismique sur la subduction permet de quantifier l’intensité du blocage sur l’interface via le coefficient de couplage cinématique. Ce dernier peut être déterminé en utilisant un modèle de dislocation simple dans un milieu homogène élastique sur laquelle on applique la théorie du backslip. Cette thèse a pour objectif de déterminer la valeur de ce couplage intersismique au long de la subduction chilienne (18 ◦ S-38 ◦ S) et d’analyser ces variations en relation avec la segmentation sismotectonique et la sismicité historique. Pour cela, les vitesses intersismiques collectées au cours de ces 20 dernières années ont été combinées dans un même référentiel et de nouvelles données GPS ont été acquises sur des réseaux installés ou rénovés par les équipes franco-chiliennes depuis 2009. Cet effort instrumental associé au travail de traitement des données que j’ai réalisé conduit à un jeu de vitesses intersismiques sur plusieurs centaines de points et quasi continu sur la marge chilienne. Ces données ont été utilisées pour élaborer une cartographie précise du couplage au long de la subduction chilienne. La distribution de couplage qui est présentée dans ce manuscrit montre d’importantes variations latérales et en profondeur de la valeur du couplage et dessine ainsi une segmentation de la marge. Les segments fortement couplés semblent corrélés aux grandes ruptures historiques, tandis que les intersegments découplés semblent se comporter comme des barrières à leur propagation. Les zones d’intersegments correspondent à des zones atypiques de la subduction, souvent associées à des anomalies du trait de côte (baies, péninsules), à l’entrée en subduction de structures bathymétriques (rides, fractures) et à une sismicité de fond importante. Le séisme de Maule du 27 février 2010 (Mw 8.8) qui a rompu un segment fortement couplé et qui s’est arrêté dans des zones de faible couplage a permis de proposer un lien entre le couplage apparent et le comportement mécanique de l’interface.Sur la base de cette analyse, il semble possible d’utiliser les cartes de couplage intersismique pour mieux estimer l’aléa sismique au Chili. Dans ce travail, nous apportons notamment un éclairage nouveau sur la lacune du Grand Nord Chili en montrant que le segment couplé du Loaest nettement plus restreint que la lacune en elle-même et qu’un large intersegment découplé s’y développe autour d’Iquique. Une attention particulière est donc portée aux régions de l’Atacama, du Paranal et du Loa qui correspondent à des zones très fortement couplées, chacune susceptibles de produire un grand séisme de subduction potentiellement associé à un tsunami, et un séisme géant en cas de rupture collective.

    Description: Historical agreed minimum discharges of river Elbe at the czech-german border profile Hřensko/Schöna Discharges of the river Elbe at the border profile between the Czech Republic and Germany at Hřensko/ Schöna play an essential role for the suitability of the German river section downstream for shipping. A cascade of reservoirs upstream the border profile was mainly built between 1950 and 1964. Since then a significant supplemental low water management at the boarder profile is possible. Although the low wa¬ter control at the German-Czech boarder profile is currently managed by a network of German and Czech institutions the legal basis of this management regime is currently not fully understood. In particular, the question raised weather current management targets for low water supplement can be seen based on still valid German-Czech agreements between the former states German Democratic Republic and Czech Slovakian Socialistic Republic. This report summarizes the chronological follow up of the construction of the Czech reservoir system and the related agreements between the German and Czech site.The authors have assembled the development of the effectively agreed minimum discharges at the border profile ČSSR/GDR at Hřensko/Schöna. The available joint coordination statements between ČSSR and GDR during the period April 1983 and May 1988 were reviewed and compared to the recorded discharges. The capacity for low water supplements at Hřensko/Schöna increased since 1900 from 143,58 Mil. m³ to 2 566,24 Mil. m³ in 2010. The greatest parts of the total storage capacity are located in the Vltava and in the Ohře river basin with storage capacities of 1 894,03 Mil. m³ and 404,35 Mil. m³, respectively. The Vltava cascade is currently managed in a way that a minimum discharge is guaranteed of about 40,0 m³/s at barrage Vrané. This compares to a natural discharge situation with minimum flows between 12,0 to 15,0 m³/s. The barrage system in the Ohře river system can currently ensure minimum discharges of about 8,00 m³/s compared with natural discharges between 1,50 and 2,00 m³/s. The boarder profile at Hřensko/ Schöna is directly affected by the reservoir control in Vltava and Ohře. The GDR made several efforts to agree with the ČSSR on minimum discharge levels for the river Elbe at the border profile at Hřensko/Schöna. After years of negotiations minimum monthly medial discharges (Min MQ month) were defined for a hydrological year starting from November until October. However, these monthly medial values still allowed for shortfalls at the daily scale. Based on the monthly medial values two coordination arrangements were concluded between the ČSSR and the GDR about the supply of minimum discharge at their joint border profile at Hřensko/Schöna. The first started in April, 1983 and was valid till 1990. The agreement was updated and extended in May, 1988 till 2000. The lastly agreed monthly minimum values range between 86,8 m³/s in August and 185,2 m³/s in April. Although an agreement about these values exists, it never had a legally binding character. However, these values are still used as orientation for the control of Czech reservoirs in practise. In the past, the agreed minimum discharges felled only once below the limit. In July 1964, the observed monthly discharge was 89,1 m³/s which is 7.1 m³/s short of the agreed value of 96,2 m³/s. Climate change might lead to a more frequent short fall of the once agreed minimum values. Considering this fact and the informal nature of the current target values for control a new formal framework for the minimum flow regime at the German-Czech boarder might be in the interest of the German water users downstream.

    Description: Die bis in jüngste Zeit vertretene Ansicht, daß die französische Mittelmeerregion im Pleistozän nicht mehr unter den Einflüssen eines periglazialen Klimas gelegen habe (1), bedarf nach den Beobachtungen von MARCELIN (3) und nach den Feststellungen in diesem Aufsatz einer Revision. Auch in diesem Gebiet gibt es einen mannigfaltigen periglazialen Formenschatz und verbreitet periglaziale Ablagerungen (Fig. 1): Löße, Flugsande und äolische Steinpflaster (mit allseitig geschliffenen Steinen darin, deren größte und schwerste während der Politur nicht durch Wind, sondern nur durch Frostschub gedreht sein können), Solifluktions- und Kryoturbationshorizonte (Würgeboden) und periglaziale Schutthalden. Morphometrische Schotteranalysen, die Abplattung wie die Zurundung betreffend, erhärten den periglazialen Charakter dieser Bildungen (Tableau 1), deren Verbreitung bis ans Mittelmeergestade reicht. Die genaue Datierung der einzelnen Erscheinungen ist noch nicht möglich gewesen; sie gehören aber zumindest bei Collias verschiedenen Kaltzeiten an. Hier zeigt ein großer Aufschluß drei verschiedenaltrige Löße in Wechsellagerung mit Solifluktions- und Kryoturbationshorizonten und alle diese Horizonte mit unterschiedlichen Merkmalen nachträglicher chemischer Verwitterung. Er dokumentiert die Aufeinanderfolge folgender Klimaperioden: warm-trockene Klimaperiode, ältere Kaltklima-Periode, warm-trockene Periode, kalte Periode, gemäßigte Periode, kalte Periode, Klima der Gegenwart. Bemerkenswert ist, daß trotz Suchens keine fossilen Eis- oder Lehmkeile und auch keine anderen Zeugen einstigen Dauerfrostbodens gefunden wurden. Ihr offenbares Fehlen gestattet den Schluß, daß das durch die übrigen Formen und Ablagerungen belegte Periglazialklima nicht ebenso streng und rauh war wie das gleichzeitige Klima in den nördlichen und westlichen Teilen Frankreichs, wo fossile Eiskeile bis an die Atlantikküste hin beobachtet wurden. Das französische Mittelmeergebiet wird also keinen Dauerfrostboden, sondern nur jahreszeitliche, bestenfalls tiefgründige Gefromis gehabt haben. Der Nachweis periglazialer Klimaeinflüsse auf dieses Gebiet eröffnet neue Aspekte auch für die Morphologie der südfranzösischen Kalkgebirge. In Abschnitt III sind zahlreiche Einzelbeobachtungen zusammengestellt worden, wonach manche Züge der großen kanonartigen Täler sowohl hinsichtlich ihrer Hanggliederung wie hinsichtlich ihrer Terrassen nur aus dem Wechsel der verschiedenen Klimate, also auch unter Mitwirkung des Periglazialklimas verstanden werden können. Eindeutig periglaziale Veränderungen weisen die Karsterscheinungen auf, deren Anlage somit weit älter ist, als bisher angenommen wurde. Vollends periglazialer Entstehung sind die zahlreichen, heute trockenen Tälchen der Hochflächen („Dellen"). Bedarf die Kalklandschaft im einzelnen auch noch weiterer Untersuchung, so darf doch schon gesagt werden, daß ihre Formen größtenteils Vorzeitformen aus verschiedenen Klimaperiodien sind, und daß ihre jetztzeitlichen Bildungen sich nahezu ganz auf den Sohlenbereich der großen Täler beschränken. Durch die auffallend gute Erhaltung eines verschiedenaltrigen fossilen Formenschatzes zeichnet sich die Kalklandschaft aus vor den Räumen toniger Ablagerungen und der Molasse, die unter der Wirkung des heutigen Klimas noch am stärksten verändert werden.

    Description: Das Problem der Blattspitzen, die verschiedentlich schon in einem technisch hochentwickelten Acheuléen auftreten, ist augenblicklich ein akutes Thema der prähistorischen Wissenschaft. Ihr Aussehen läßt in der Tat vermuten, daß es sich hierbei um eventuelle Vorläufer der Typen des Solutréen handelt. Diese Industrieformen tauchen in gewissen Zentren auf, die vielleicht am Ursprung der Solutréencivilisation stehen. Da aber bis heute noch keine direkte Ableitung mit Sicherheit hat herausgestellt werden können, verdienen alle weiteren Auskünfte zusammengetragen und zur Kenntnis gebracht zu werden. Diesbezügliche Beobachtungen sind vor kurzem in stratigraphisch eindeutiger Lage im Tal der Aisne (Frankreich) — Abb. 5 — gemacht worden sowie ein interessanter Fund im südlichen Luxemburg (Gutland) — Abb. 1. Diese verhältnismäßig schmalen, langgezogenen Formen scheinen den südlichen Typen (Var) näher zu stehen als den aus Zentraleuropa bekannten Beispielen (Bayern, Tschechoslovakei).

    Description: Die Autoren befassen sich in dieser Arbeit mit der Geologie und der Paläontologie der Becken von Baraolt und Sfintu-Gheorghe, welche zu der im Südosten von Transylvanien (Siebenbürgen) gelegenen Senke von Brasov (Kronstadt) gehören. Diese Senkung tektonischen Ursprungs bildete fast während des ganzen Pleistozäns ein großes Seebecken. Die auf mesozoischem Grund abgelagerten Sedimente wurden in vier Horizonte eingeteilt, welche gleichzeitig ebenso vielen Phasen in der Entwicklung der Becken entsprechen. Die Säugetierfauna dieser Horizonte wurde in drei Hauptkomplexe gruppiert, welche dem Unter-, Mittel- und Oberpleistozän entsprechen. Der erste faunistische Komplex umfaßt zwei Phasen, der zweite drei und der letzte eine einzige Phase.

    Description: In allen großen Tälern der französischen Alpen ist die Existenz von Übertiefungen schon seit langem bewiesen worden. Die Glazialerosion hat übertiefte Ombilics gebildet und in den Schichtungen, auf die sie eingewirkt hat, mehr oder weniger tiefe Rinnen geprägt. Die Anfüllung der übertieften Ombilics besteht großenteils aus feinen Seesedimenten aber auch aus gröberen Schichtungen, welche wichtige Wasserlager darstellen können. Das Ausmaß der Vertiefungserscheinung ist bedeutend, und in manchen Tälern überschreitet die Stärke der alluvialen Anfüllung 400 m. Die Beispiele der Dracebene im Süden von Grenoble und des unteren Arvetals in Hoch-Savoyen unterstreichen die Wichtigkeit der wasserhaltigen Schichten, die man in den übertieften Tälern antreffen kann. Die Versorgungsbedingungen sind meistens sehr günstig; die nutzbaren Gebiete können jedoch durch eine einfache geologische Untersuchung nicht immer ausfindig gemacht werden.

    Description: Mehrere Eigenschaften (Korngröße, Mineralspektrum, chemische Zusammensetzung von Gesamtproben und von Klinopyroxenen) einer Tephralage, die in sieben Lößprofilen von Ungarn und der Tschechoslovakei vorkommt, wurden untersucht. Die Tephra ist identisch in allen Lokalitäten, und der Name „Tephra von Bag" wurde gewählt. Diese Tephra erlaubt eine neue Korrelation der untersuchten Lößprofile. Die Ablagerung der Tephra hat während oder vor der fünftletzten Eiszeit stattgefunden. Da sich die nächsten vulkanischen pleistozänen Felder in einer Entfernung von mehr als 500 km befanden, kann die Tephra von Bag als weitverbreiteter Leithorizont in Zentraleuropa angesehen werden. Die zur Zeit verfügbaren Angaben erlauben die Schlußfolgerungen, daß der fördernde Vulkan sich eher in der Osteifel (Deutschland) als in dem Apennin (Italien) oder in den Karpaten (Rumänien) befindet. Die Korrelation mit einem Vulkan vom Zentral-Massiv (Frankreich) oder vom Agäischen Meer (Griechenland) wird ausgeschlossen.

    Description: Die Verfasser beschreiben neue Säugetierreste von zwei Lokalitäten im Nordwesten der Senke von Brasov, die dem älteren Villafranchium angehören. Die in Lignitflözen gefundene Fauna wird durch das Vorhandensein der zwei Mastodonten, Z. borsoni und A. arvernensis, und die Abwesenheit des Elefanten charakterisiert. Das Auftreten der monodactylen Pferde und der modernen Bovinen zeigt, daß der faunistische Komplex vom Capeni-Virghis-Typus schon an den Beginn des Quartärs zu stellen ist. Im allgemeinen gehören die rumänischen fossilführenden Lokalitäten dem Zeitabschnitt an, der mit den klassischen Faunen von Villafranca d'Asti und Vialette beginnt und dessen Ende durch die Fauna von Perrier-Etouaires angezeigt ist.
