Transition Metal Fulvene Complexes, XXIII. Tricarbonyl Fulvene and Tricarbonyl Cyclopentadienyl Complexes of Molybdenum and TungstenIn contrast to the reaction of fulvenes with (CH3CN)3Cr(CO)3, which leads to pure (fulvene)Cr- (CO)3 complexes, the reaction of L3M(CO)3 [L3 = 3 CH3CN, diglyme; M = Mo, W] with fulvenes gives a mixture of (fulvene)M(CO)3 (2) and substituted dimeric (cyclopentadienyl)2M2-(CO)6 complexes (3) difficult to separate. The structure of bis(η5-benzhydrylcyclopentadienyl)- hexacarbonyldimolybdenum (3a) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The (fulvene)Mo-(CO)3 complex 4 reacts with tertiary phosphanes and methylenetriphenylphosphorane to give the zwitterionic addition products 5 and 6.
Notes:
