Notes: A number of biologically relevant O4-phospho-L-tyrosine-containing peptides have been synthesized by either the global phosphorylation of the side-chain-unprotected L-tyrosine moiety in presynthesized resin-bound peptides or alternatively by the incorporation of suitably protected O4-phospho-L-tyrosine building blocks in the continuous-flow method of Fmoc solid-phase peptide synthesis. Different phosphate-protecting groups have been applied.

Notes: The NMR chemical shift method was applied for the determination of the magnetic susceptibility of paramagnetic transition metal complexes in solution. The method was found to be very useful for the determination of magnetic susceptibility changes during a chemical reaction in which one paramagnetic compound produced another. The concentrations of two paramagnetic cobalt complexes [Co3O(O2CCH3)6(HO2CCH3)3] and Co(O2CCH3)2, were calculated from the chemical shift value observed during their reaction with cumene hydroperoxide. The results are consistent with those obtained from electronic spectra.

Notes: The isolation and amino acid sequence of substance P from horse intestine is reported. The sequence, H-Arg-Pro-Lys-Pro-Gln-Gln-Phe-Phe-Gly-Leu-Met-NH2 is identical with the sequence reported for substance P isolated from bovine hypothalami.

Notes: Four analogues of LH-RH modified in position 5 have been synthesized using either classical procedures or the solid phase method. The gonadotropin-releasing activities were determined by radioimmunological measurements of LH and FSH in vivo and in vitro and the immunoreactivities by a specific LH-RH radioimmunoassay (RIA). Notes: A general chemical phosphorylation method based on P(III) chemistry has been developed. The system is demonstrated for the phosphorylation of oligonucleotides, directly after their synthesis on a solid support, and for the O-phosphorylation of serine, threonine, and tyrosine as well as for a serine-containing peptide.

Description / Table of Contents: Synthese und Eigenschaften des orthometallierten Komplexes Rh{P(OPh)3}3{P(OC6H4)(OPH)2}Der orthometallierte Komplex Rh{P(OPh)3}3{P(OC6H4)(OPh)2} (1) wurde durch die Reaktion von [Rh(OCH3)(cod)]2 und P(OPh)3 erhalten.
Notes: The orthometallated complex formulated as Rh{P(OPh)3}3{P(OC6H4)(OPh)2} (1) was obtained in the reaction between [Rh(OCH3)(cod)]2 and P(OPh)3. Based on the 31PNMR and UV-VIS results the alternative structure of that compound  -  Rh{P(OPh)3}3{P(O)(OPh)2} (2)  -  was discussed. Both  -  the formation process of that compound and its reactivity allow to regard it as the orthometallated complex (1).

Description: There is currently a need for vaccine development to improve the immunogenicity of protective epitopes, which themselves are often poorly immunogenic. Although the immunogenicity of these epitopes can be enhanced by linking them to highly immunogenic carriers, such carriers derived from current vaccines have not proven to be generally effective. One reason may be related to epitope-specific suppression, in which prior vaccination with a protein can inhibit the antibody response to new epitopes linked to the protein. To circumvent such inhibition, a peptide from tetanus toxoid was identified that, when linked to a B cell epitope and injected into tetanus toxoid-primed recipients, retained sequences for carrier but not suppressor function. The antibody response to the B cell epitope was enhanced. This may be a general method for taking advantage of previous vaccinations in the development of new vaccines.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Etlinger, H M -- Gillessen, D -- Lahm, H W -- Matile, H -- Schonfeld, H J -- Trzeciak, A -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 1990 Jul 27;249(4967):423-5.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Author address: 〈/span〉Central Research Unit F.
