Description: The application of semifloating gate transistor (SFGT) as the single-transistor active pixel image sensor (APS) is investigated in this paper. This single-transistor (1T) APS can realize the functions of the conventional 3T CMOS image sensor. The device operation mechanism, optimization methods, and transient behavior measurements will be discussed. Because the floating junction of this device is connected to the floating gate, special behaviors such as floating gate voltage pinning effects were observed. The transient time measurement emulating the exposure procedure also confirmed the light sensing function as a single-transistor image sensor.

Description: To validate the robust stability of the flight control system of hypersonic flight vehicle, which suffers from a large number of parametrical uncertainties, a new clearance framework based on structural singular value () theory and global uncertainty sensitivity analysis (SA) is proposed. In this framework, SA serves as the preprocess of uncertain model to be analysed to help engineers to determine which uncertainties affect the stability of the closed loop system more slightly. By ignoring these unimportant uncertainties, the calculation of can be simplified. Instead of analysing the effect of uncertainties on which involves solving optimal problems repeatedly, a simpler stability analysis function which represents the effect of uncertainties on closed loop poles is proposed. Based on this stability analysis function, Sobol’s method, the most widely used global SA method, is extended and applied to the new clearance framework due to its suitability for system with strong nonlinearity and input factors varying in large interval, as well as input factors subjecting to random distributions. In this method, the sensitive indices can be estimated via Monte Carlo simulation conveniently. An example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Description: Map-Reduce-Merge is an improved parallel programming model based on Map-Reduce in cloud computing environment. Through the new Merge module, Map-Reduce-Merge can support processing multiple related heterogeneous datasets more efficiently. In order to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of this new model, we present a rigorous description for Map-Reduce-Merge model using Haskell. Firstly, we describe the basic program skeleton of Map-Reduce-Merge programming model. Secondly, an abstract description for the Merge module is presented by analyzing the structure and function of the Merge module with Haskell as the description tool. Thirdly, we evaluate the Map-Reduce-Merge model on the basis of our description. We capture the functional characteristics of the Map-Reduce-Merge model by our abstract description, which can provide theoretical basis for designing more efficient parallel programming model to process join operation.

Description: Fully-mechanized mining of coal face with a large cutting height is generally jeopardized by rib spalling disaster in the working face. Preventive measures based on undisturbed coal seam conditions fail to provide safe predictions, as large-scale fractures in soft coal face frequently appear before excavation due to mining-induced stresses. This paper investigates a case study of the Paner Mine 11224 working face in the Huainan mine area, China, which features an overlying protected layer in the protective seam mining. To simulate the failure process in such a mine, we elaborated a simplified physical-mechanical model of a coal wall that underwent shear failure and sliding instability, in compliance with the triangular prism unit criterion. Similar simulation experiments, theoretical calculations, and borehole monitoring were used to comprehensively analyze the overburden fracture and movement after mining the lower protective seam. The development height of three overburden zones was determined, and the characteristics of the protected layer affected by mining were obtained. The results show that the failure is mainly related to the roof load, coal cohesion, internal friction angle, coal seam inclination, and sidewall protecting force. The key to limiting the frictional sliding of a slip body is to reduce the roof load and increase the sliding coefficient and cohesion of the main control weak surface (MCWS). Besides, a self-developed three-dimensional numerical calculation software RFPA3D (Realistic Fracture Process 3D Analysis), which considered the rock heterogeneity, was used to reproduce a weak triangular prism’s progressive failure process. The numerical simulation results agreed with the fracture pattern predicted by the theoretical model, which accurately described the rib spalling mechanisms in a soft coal face with a large cutting height and a protective layer.

Description: In this paper, we establish a new fixed-time stability theorem, which provides a novel fixed-time stability criterion and a novel upper bound estimate formula for the settling time. Numerical simulations show that the upper bound estimate for the settling time in this paper is tighter than those given in the existing fixed-time stability theorems. By designing a simple feedback controller, the fixed-time synchronization of neural networks with discrete delay is investigated based on the fixed-time stability theorem established in this paper. A numerical example is included to validate the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results.

Description: Steeply inclined and thick coal seams in Huainan Panbei Coal Mine in Anhui Province, China, were analyzed by physical analog modeling, acoustic emission (AE), and distributed fiber sensing (DBS). The secondary deformation breakage law, sound, and light response characteristics in the rock mass deformation process induced by lower slice mining of steeply inclined coal seams were determined. The results show that the mutation of the hinged rock beam structure in the lower region and the cantilever beam structure in the upper region of the lower slice disturbed overburden is the main cause of the rupture of the workface roof. Based on the AE energy and distributed fiber strain response characteristics, the six stages of disturbed overburden instability in the lower slice and cyclic patterns of steeply inclined coal seams were revealed. The key prevention and control areas of the workface were found to be related to the disturbed high-level immediate roof rupture during the lower slice mining process, rupture of the disturbed main roof, and sliding of disturbed overburden. The three-stage AE positioning morphological characteristics and DBS response stepped jump patterns were analyzed in detail. The research results are considered instrumental in the combined AE and DBS monitoring of deformation and damage of rock and soil structures.

Description: The fault detection (FD) problem for linear discrete time-varying (LDTV) systems with measurement packet dropouts is considered. The objective is to design a new observer-based fault detection filter (FDF) as a residual generator through employing packet dropout information on the measurement sequence. Based on some new defined input-to-output operators, the FD problem is formulated in a framework of maximizing stochasticH−/H∞orH∞/H∞performance index. By introducing an adjoint-operator-based optimization method, the analytical optimal solution can be derived in terms of solving a modified Riccati equation. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Description: A novel facial expression recognition algorithm based on discriminant neighborhood preserving nonnegative tensor factorization (DNPNTF) and extreme learning machine (ELM) is proposed. A discriminant constraint is adopted according to the manifold learning and graph embedding theory. The constraint is useful to exploit the spatial neighborhood structure and the prior defined discriminant properties. The obtained parts-based representations by our algorithm vary smoothly along the geodesics of the data manifold and have good discriminant property. To guarantee the convergence, the project gradient method is used for optimization. Then features extracted by DNPNTF are fed into ELM which is a training method for the single hidden layer feed-forward networks (SLFNs). Experimental results on JAFFE database and Cohn-Kanade database demonstrate that our proposed algorithm could extract effective features and have good performance in facial expression recognition.

Description: Based on the Jordan form of system matrix, this paper discusses algebraic conditions for the controllability of the multiagent network system with directed graph from two aspects: leader-follower network attribute and coupling input disturbance. Leader-follower network attribute refers to the topology structure and information communication among agents. Coupling input disturbance includes the number of external coupling inputs and the selection of leader nodes. When the leader-follower network attribute is fixed, the selection method of coupling input disturbance is studied for the controllability, and when the coupling input disturbance is known, we derive necessity and sufficiency conditions to determine the controllability. The reliability of theoretical results is verified by numerical examples and model simulation. Besides, the generally perfect controllability is introduced, that is, the system is always controllable regardless of the number and the locations of leaders. In practical engineering applications, the perfectly controllable topology can improve the system fault tolerance and accelerate the commercialization process, which has a profound significance for promoting the modernization process.
