Description:
Signals mediated by the T cell receptor (TCR) are required for thymocyte maturation and selection. To examine the role of TCR zeta chain signals in development, TCR expression was restored in zeta-deficient mice with transgenic zeta chains that partially or completely lacked sequences required for signal transduction. The zeta chain played a role in thymic development by promoting TCR surface expression, but zeta-mediated signals were not essential because TCRs that contained signaling-deficient zeta chains promoted T cell maturation and transduced signals associated with thymic selection.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Shores, E W -- Huang, K -- Tran, T -- Lee, E -- Grinberg, A -- Love, P E -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 1994 Nov 11;266(5187):1047-50.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Author address: 〈/span〉Division of Hematologic Products, Food and Drug Administration, Bethesda, MD 20892.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Record origin:〈/span〉 〈a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7526464" target="_blank"〉PubMed〈/a〉
