Description: Following introduction of (Litopenaeus vannamei) to shrimp culture industry by Iran Fisheries Organization, the post-larvae of this species were reared successfully in earthen ponds in Bushehr and Khuzestan (Choebdeh site) provinces. Due to activity of shrimp culture sites in Choebdeh and importance of input and output water quality, this study was carried out in 11 selected stations including: 2 stations in Bahmanshir River, 2 stations in C4 and C5 irrigation canals, 6 stations in active shrimp farms along C4 canal ,and C5 canal and one station in output drainage canal. About 66 samplings were carried out during May-October 2009 from stocking to harvesting phases. Physical and chemical parameters were sampled biweekly and some parameters such as pH and temperature were measured in-vivo by HACH equipment. Other parameters such as DO, salinity, BOD5,TSS, NO3, NO2, PO4 and turbidity were analyzed based on standard methods by expectrophotometer equipment in Lab. Maximum values were: DO=11.4ppm; PO4 =3.93ppm; NO3 =10.09ppm; TSS= 5408ppm; pH=8.4; NO2 =0.18ppm and BOD5 =10.4ppm. Majority of parameters except TSS, NO3 and PO4 were in the range of acceptable limits. There was no difference in quality of waters between internal water from river and drainage canals.

Description: In recent years, protected areas have got a lot of attention in fisheries management as a tool for providing an ecological vision. This study was done for identification of sensitive and valuable fishery areas and areas under environmental stress in Mahshar creeks from September 2009 to August 2010. At first level biological parameters including phytoplankton, zooplanktons, macrozooplanktons, benthic organisms, trawl catch aquatic organisms along with physical, chemical and heavy metal in substrate were studied. Samplings were done monthly and seasonally from 8 creeks in Mahshahr region in northwest of the Persian Gulf. In order to determine the level of contamination of heavy metals, normal values (Background value) of various metals in the study area were determined using the average of the previous plus one standard deviation determined factor contamination of metal (Cf) and a total degree of pollution of the estuary ( Cd) based on heavy metals . The amounts of various metals pollution factor (Cf), the following: Hg 〉 Zn 〉 Cu ≥ Ni 〉 Pb ≥ Co 〉 Cd Based on the degree of contamination (Cd), different creek are the form below: Bihad 〈Patil 〈 Ghazaleh 〈 Darvish ≤ Doragh 〈 Zangi ≤ Ahmadi〈 Ghanam Other metals were lower than above standard based on the degree of risk of contamination for aquatic organisms. Also, the degree of toxicity of heavy metals (St), biological production index (Bioproduction Index) in substrate and risk factors (Risk Index) is determined for different creeks. The latest index shows that some metals, such as mercury, zinc, and nickel were at risk level and all creeks in the study had average levels of pollution and Ghanam showed significant pollution of heavy metals. Creeks in the study have muddy substrate. Identified macrobenthos classified based on their susceptibility to stress and environmental pollutants into five ecological groups. Based on annual average of AMBI, all creeks were in ecological group 3 (slightly polluted) except Darvish. In general based on AMBI and BI in different seasons and creeks, 34% of creeks were unpolluted, 34% were slightly polluted and Patil, Zangi, Doragh and Bihad were severely polluted in winter. The detection of bio value and bio sensitivity of Mahshahr costal habitats and also severity of risks and threats expressed by means of measures taken. Positive criteria (potential habitat) and negative (threat factors and indices) in the three Grade 1, 3 and 5 respectively, in the three levels of low, moderate and well classified. Finally, the highest score indicates the most appropriate place to protect the estuaries in the study. The detection sensitivity of the values of biodiversity and habitats of coastal waters Mahshahr and severity of risks and threats expressed by means of measures taken. Positive criteria (potential habitat) and negative (threat factors and indices) in the three Grade 1 ، 3 and 5, respectively, in the three levels of low, moderate and well classified. Finally, the highest score indicates the most appropriate place to protect the estuaries in the study. Darvish, Ghnam and Douragh creeks are most suitable creeks, and Ghanam, are known to protect the weak. And Khvrhayy as severe and ladle on average, and second choice for their protection. Study the possibility of establishing protected areas and enforce protective laws, the level and extent of protection and the scope of protection requires more comprehensive studies in the future. In the second stage of maturation for the reproduction of natural and semi-natural waters and fishing Bandar Imam (hormone injection) has been reproduced. The reproduction of the species Sparidentex hasta and Acantuphagrus laus and grouper in the number of 225,000, 700,000 and 300,000 pieces about 5.2 cm to rebuild fish stocks of the species in the dining area were released . Survival rate of above species at the time of release related collected larvae in one day were highest in Acantuphagrus laus (48.4%). And then Sparidentex hasta (25%) and the lowest survival was in grouper (about 11/72%).

Description: Primary researches on aquaculture of endemic shrimp species carried out since 1984-5 by Iranian Fisheries Research Organization (IFRO) .After a decade, the condition for extension and development of shrimp culture in the country prepared. Despite huge investment of government for preparation and construction of shrimp sites, only small part of present potential in southern coast of the country is under production. About 18 different shrimp species inhabit in Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman, in which 4 species have larger size, and more abundant, and harvest commercially . Penaeus semisulcatus, Fenneropenaeus merguiensis and Metapenaeus affinis as commercial species distributed throughout of Persian Gulf from mouth of Arvand River in north- west to strait of Hormoz, and also some parts of Oman Sea. While Fenneropenaeus indicus distributed mainly in coastal area of Oman Sea. Shrimp culture begin in Iran by P.semisulcatus, continued by imported Penaeus monodon, and developed by using of F.indicus. After confront to slow growth and viral diseases in 2001 (Khouzestan province) and 2005 (Bushehr Province), at the same time I.F.R.O acquired the bio-technique for production of Litopenaeus vannamei, and hence the condition for introduction the new species to the shrimp culture industry provided. In accordance for development of shrimp culture, I.F.R.O carried out various research activities, and established specific research center for this purpose. Research projects regarding brood-stock management, breeding and larvae production, grow out, water management and disease identification and treatment have been carried, and induced considerable impacts on quantitative and qualitative development of shrimp culture in the country.

Description: For the first time in research program and species diversity the white legged shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) was introduced in Iran in 2005 by Iranian Fisheries Research Organization. In two recent years two projects was carried out successfully in Hele Research Station and according of these projects study of growth, survival rate and final harvesting of Litopenaeus vannamei impact of 25, 35 and 50 (per/m2) stocking densities was done .Nine 0.4 ha earthen ponds were stocked from 26 June 2006 to 11 November 2006 and the rate of stocking was 100000,140000 and 200000 Pl in 25, 35 and 50 per /m2 respectively. We also carried out daily test of pH, temperature and dissolve oxygen two times per day but transparency, depth and salinity one time per day. The mean weight in 120 days was 17/84±2/6, 16/03±1/9 and14/09±2/3 grams in 25, 35 and 50 per /m2 respectively and highest weight was seen in 25 density. Results demonstrated that there was a significant relation (P〈0.05) between mean weight. The yield were 1745, 2055 and 2425 kg/pond although 4/3, 5/1 and 6 ton/ha in 25, 35 and 50 per /m3 respectively. The maximum and minimum survival rate 97/96 and 88/46 was seen in 25 and 50 per/m2. The minimum FCR 1.43 was seen in 25 per /m2. For economical calculating just by using the cost of larva and feeding indicates that the highest benefit percentage was seen in 25 density. The average of salinity, pH, temperature and dissolve oxygen were 36.1-37 ppt, 8.1, 30.2-30.6 degrees centigrade and 5.9- 6.4 mg/l.
