Notes: Welding heat cycle computer software is developed successfully, bases on experientialand practical mathematic model, uses LabVIEW7.1 to program, it can draw single or multi-processwelding heat cycle curve conveniently and quickly. This paper puts emphasize on explaining therealization of multi-process heat cycle curve which is drawn by the same or different mathematicmodel, and the research of heat cycle curve’ change which is caused by the change of parameters. Itintroduces the comparison between practical curve which is obtained from experiment and settledcurve after this software is embedded in MMS-200 thermo-mechanical simulator. The developmentof this software has important value on the research of welding process, fills up the blank ofdomestic thermo-mechanical simulator at the aspect of welding thermo-simulation, consummatesthe function of thermo-mechanical simulator, and broadens its applying field further

Notes: Diamond particles have been selectively synthesized on a SiO2 dot-patterned Si substrate using plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (plasma CVD). Nucleation densities on both Si and SiO2 have been increased, first by pretreatment using abrasive powders; then, to eliminate the pretreatment effect from almost all of the substrate and to retain the effect only at designed sites, an Ar beam is used to obliquely irradiate the pretreated substrate. After deposition using plasma CVD, diamond particles have selectively formed on one edge of the SiO2 dots according to the pattern and have grown large to adjoin with adjacent particles. Polycrystals with equal grain sizes have been synthesized.

Notes: Abstract Archaean and Proterozoic granulite facies complexes of Inner Mongolia differ in lithological association, tectonic style, mineral assemblage and metamorphic P–T path. A nearly isobaric cooling path for Archaean high-grade metamorphic rocks is suggested by reaction textures and geothermobarometry. Early Proterozoic metamorphic rocks show nearly isothermal decompression. Archaean metamorphism may have been caused by magmatic accretion, whereas early Proterozoic metamorphism suggests a major continental thickening event followed by exhumation.

Notes: A deletion derivative of the ermC gene was constructed that expresses a 254-nucleotide mRNA. The small size of this mRNA facilitated the detection of processing products that did not differ greatly in size from the full-length transcript. In the presence of erythromycin, which induces ribosome stalling near the 5′ end of ermC mRNA, the 254-nucleotide mRNA was cleaved endonucleolytically at the site of ribosome stalling. Only the downstream product of this cleavage was detectable; the upstream product was apparently too unstable to be detected. The downstream cleavage product accumulated at times after rifampicin addition, suggesting that the stalled ribosome at the 5′ end conferred stability to this RNA fragment. Neither Bs-RNase III nor RNase M5, the two known narrow-specificity endoribonucleases of Bacillus subtilis, was responsible for this cleavage. These results indicate the presence in B. subtilis of another specific endoribonuclease, which may be ribosome associated.

Notes: Market critics often cited an apparent lack of relationship between corporate performance and stock prices as the main reason for a poor prediction of stock prices. This study attempts to examine whether prices of 15 sample listed property stocks in Singapore reflect their corporate fundamental values over a ten-year period from June 1989 to June 1999. Proxies for corporate fundamental values used in our study are earnings per share (EPS), dividends per share (DPS) and net asset values (NAV) of the individual property stocks listed in Singapore. From the Johansen's cointegration test results, there were long-run convergence relationships of stock prices with their fundamental values for nine of the 15 sample stocks, which implied some forms of mean reversion process of stock prices towards their fundamental values. For the nine sampled cointegrating stocks, NAV and EPS, particularly in the second-lag orders, were the most significant fundamental values in explaining the short-run dynamics of the stock price changes. The error correction mechanism (ECM) was also found to be statistically significant in the long-run convergence relationships with four sample stock prices. DPSs and lagged changes in stock prices, in comparison, were statistically significant, but in only two of the sample vector ECM relationships. The results imply that institutional investors should pay more attention to the underlying performance of stocks, in particularly the EPS and NAV, in their stock selection process.

Notes: Abstract In closed magma systems SiO2 approximately measures differentiation progress and oxygen isotopes can seem to obey Rayleigh fractionation only as a consequence of the behaviour of SiO2. The main role of δ 18O is as a sensitive indicator of contamination, either at the start of differentiation (δ 18Oinit) or as a proportion of fractionation in AFC. Plots of δ 18O vs SiO2-allow to determine initial δ 18O values for different sequences for source comparison. For NBS-28=9.60, the δ 18O at 48% SiO2-varies between a high 6.4‰ for Kiglapait (Kalamarides 1984), 5.9‰ for Transhimalaya, 5.8‰ for Hachijo-Jima (Matsuhisa 1979), 5.6‰ for Koloula (Chivas et al. 1982) and a low 5.3‰ for the Darran Complex, New Zealand. The Transhimalayan batholiths (Gangdese belt) were emplaced in the ‘Ladakh-Lhasa terrane’, between the present-day Banggong-Nujiang, and Indus-Yarlung Tsangbo suture zones, after its accretion to Eurasia. The gradient of the least contaminated continuous (δ 18O vs SiO2-igneous trend line is similar to that of Koloula, and AFC calculations suggest a low secondary assimilation rate of less than 0.05 times the rate of crystallisation. Outliers enriched in 18O are frequent in the Lhasa, and apparently rare in the Ladakh transsect. Low-δ 18O (5.0‰−0‰) granitoids and andesites on the Lhasa-Yangbajain axis are the result of present day or recent near-surface geothermal activity; their quartzes still trace the granitoids to the Transhimalaya δ 18O trend line, but the distribution of low total rock or feldspar δ 18O values could be a guide to more recent heat flow and thermally marked tectonic lineaments. Two ignimbrites from Maqiang show hardly any 18O-contamination by crustal material.

Notes: Abstract An investigation of FT far IR spectra of YBa2Cu3Ox highT c superconductor and Ln-Ba-Cu-O systems were carried out at room and liquid nitrogen temperature, respectively. It indicated that the intensity of the IR bands reduces dramatically as the samples transform into superconductor. However, reliable spectra can be obtained from the sintered film samples directly.

Notes: The light scattering technique is now widely used in particle sizing, and includes the turbidimetric spectrum method. Although it has been reported that the light scattering technique, especially the turbidimetric method, is sensitive to refractive index, quantitative studies are rare. In this work, the effects of refractive index on the turbidimetric spectrum method were comprehensively investigated and detailed results are presented.
