Notes: Abstract A preliminary investigation of the decay of139I was made at the TRISTAN on-line mass separation facility using a negative-surface ionization source. Over 100 new γ rays are assigned to the decay of139I. The level scheme for the low-lying structure of139Xe supports a g.s. spin of 3/2−.

Notes: Abstract The decays of neutron-deficient 21-sec97Ag, 44.5-sec98Ag, 15-sec99mAg, and 124-sec99gAg nuclides have been investigated with the LISOL facility. Sources were produced by the92Mo(14N, ypxn) reactions on an enriched92Mo target. Positron-, x-, and γ-ray singles spectra have been performed on mass separated samples. The results are consistent with 9/2+ ground state in99Ag and a high (6+ or 7+) spin and parity for98Ag.

Notes: Abstract The decay characteristics of131I have been determined with high accuracy. The total branch from131I to131mXe has been measured to be 1.086±0.007%. The half life of131mXe has been measured as 11.770±0.012 days. Theγ-ray spectrum has been determined and new transitions at 85.92, 232.17, 295.83, 302.44, and 449.57 keV established. The position, spin and parity were established for a 9/2− level at 341.140 keV and spin and parity of 7/2− established for a level at 666.921 keV. The log f1t for the unique firstforbiddenβ transition from 7/2+ 131I to 11/2− 131mXe has been calculated to be 9.78.

Notes: Abstract The half life of the 376.7-keV level in111 Ag, populated in the decay of111 Pd isomers, has been determined to be 16±1 ns. Compton-suppressed γ-ray spectra and γγ coincidence spectra have also been taken. These data, combined with recent charged-particle transfer data establish 3/2+ as the spin and parity of the 376.7-keV111Ag level. Our observed lifetime and γ-ray branching can be interpreted as strong indications of shape isomerism in111Ag similar to that found in odd-mass In nuclides.

Notes: Abstract The independent isomeric yield ratio of148Pr in thermal neutron induced fission of235U has been determined experimentally. The fission product148Pr isomers, extracted directly by on-line mass separation technique, have high-spin (J=4) to low-spin (J=1) isomer ratio of 0.14±0.04 using growth and decay analysis. Statistical model calculation of isomeric yeild ratio using constant initial r.m.s. angular momentumJ rms can not reproduce either present results or other recent measurements of isomer ratios. TheJ rms derived from isomer ratio data in all thermal fissioning systems indicate a wide spread ranging from 2ħ to 13ħ. No clear correlation betweenJ rms and isomeric spins or number of neutrons of isomers is found, thus, more model refinements and experimental works should be done in order to evaluate independent isomeric yields correctly.

Notes: Abstract A 17.1min, 19/2− isomer has been established in129Sb at 1851 keV. It is fed by levels populated in the decay of the 6.2min, 11/2−129Sn isomer. This isomer decays by an M4, 723keV internal transition and by β− decay to levels in129Te. The 723keV transition is 20 times slower than 11/2−→3/2+ M4 transitions in the adjacent odd-N nuclides and is 10 times faster than the M4 transition from the 19/2− isomer in135Cs. A partial level scheme for the decay of the 11/2−,129Sn isomer is given showing levels that populate the 19/2− isomer along with a partial level scheme for129 Te.

Notes: Abstract Sources of149Nd were produced by thermal-neutron irradiation of enriched148Nd. High resolution Ge(Li) spectrometers were used to collect gamma-ray singles and coincidence spectra in the study of the decay of 1.7-h149Nd. A total of 214 gamma rays have been assigned to the decay of149Nd, and 201 of these transitions have been placed in a level scheme of149Pm involving 42 excited states. Absolute values for the beta-group intensities were determined for transitions to the149Pm levels, and spin and parity assignments were made for many of the observed states. The experimentally determined level structure of149Pm was compared with corresponding levels in other odd-mass Pm and Eu nuclides. Interpretations were made in terms of the core-coupling model. Notes: Abstract The half-life of the 1/2− isomer in89Mo has been determined in an experiment where an enriched92Mo target was irradiated by 350 or 700 ms bursts of 60 MeV protons. Analysis of the gamma-ray spectra collected as a function of time between irradiations revealed gamma rays at 118.8 and 268.5 keV decaying with a 190±15 ms half-life. The hindrance ofE3 transitions inN=47 andZ=47 nuclides is discussed.

Notes: Abstract The magnetic dipole moment of114Sb has been measured using on-line nuclear orientation (OLNO) at the UNISOR Nuclear Orientation Facility (UNISOR/NOF). The value was determined to be 1.72 (8) nuclear magnetons. The observed anisotropy of the 1299 keV transition was fitted as a function of temperature making allowance for incomplete thermalization of the114Sb nuclei prior to decay. The relaxation constant, Ck, is discussed, as is the ground state structure of114Sb.

Notes: Abstract The nuclear ground state spins of the odd-A Br nuclides75, 77, 79Br with Z=35 are all 3/2−. Nilsson orbital calculations show that the 35th proton occupies the f5/2 [301]3/2− orbital for ε〈0.20 and the p3/2 [312]3/2− orbital at larger deformations. The magnetic moments of these two states differ by a factor of two, giving clear evidence for the magnitude of the ground state deformation. Low Temperature Nuclear Orientation measurements made in Oxford and Bonn on76, 77gBrFe prepared at ISOLDE, and on line at the SERC Daresbury Laboratory on72, 74m, 75BrFe, have yielded the magnetic moments of these isotopes, using a two non-zero field model with magnetic hyperfine fields of +81.38(6) T and 26(2) T. The spin of the73Br ground state is also deduced. An interpretation of the ground state configurations of these isotopes is given.
