Alkali phosphides and arsides of the type ME(C6H5)2 with M = Li, Na, Rb, Cs; E = P, As and KPHC6H5 represent 1,1-electrolytes in dimethyl sulphoxide at 250C and a concentration range from 2 · 10-3 to 10 · 10-3 mol/1. With exception of the lithium derivatives and KHPC6H5. Which are very weak electrolytes, the compounds ME(C6H5)2 generally show a degree of dissociation of about 0.8. An equivalent conductance for the ions (C5H5)2P|⊖ and (C6H5)2As|⊖ of 14.5 and 14.0, respectively, was estimated. Conductivity measurements of the alkyl-substituted alkali phosphides MPR2 cannot be carried out in dimethyl sulphoxide, because solvolytic decomposition occurs.

Allgemein zeigen ME(C6H5)2, mit Ausnahme der Lithiumderivate sowie von KPHC6H5 als sehr schwache Elektrolyte, einen Dissoziations-grad von etwa 0,8. Aus den Meßergebnissen resultiert für die Ionen (C6H5)2P|⊖ bzw. (C6H5)2As|⊖ eine Äquivalentleitfähigkeit von 14.5 bzw. 14,0, Für alkylsubstituierte Alkali-phosphide MPR2 sind Leitfähigkeitsmessungen in Dimethylsulfoxid infolge solvolytischer Zersetzung nicht durchführbar.
