Mg2-yAlyNi(y=0,0.2,0.3,0.4) and Mg2-aTiaNi (a=0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4) were successfullysynthesized by two-step process. The phase composition, microstructure and morphology of thealloys were determined by XRD and SEM. It was found that their main phase was Mg2Ni and anotherphase, Mg3AlNi2, was observed when Mg in Mg2Ni was partially substituted by Al. The SEMobservations showed a large amount of white grains were uniformly distributed in the matrix of thealloys substituted by Al, Ti and the variation of microstructure led to promoted electrochemicalproperties
