Description: The Internet of Things (IoT) has attracted much attention from society, industry and academia as a promising technology that can enhance day to day activities, and the creation of new business models, products and services, and serve as a broad source of research topics and ideas. A future digital society is envisioned, composed of numerous wireless connected sensors and devices. Driven by huge demand, the massive IoT (mIoT) or massive machine type communication (mMTC) has been identified as one of the three main communication scenarios for 5G. In addition to connectivity, computing and storage and data management are also long-standing issues for low-cost devices and sensors. The book is a collection of outstanding technical research and industrial papers covering new research results, with a wide range of features within the 5G-and-beyond framework. It provides a range of discussions of the major research challenges and achievements within this topic.

Notes: The measuring precision of error separation technology is directly related to errorseparation parameters selection. If the parameter selection rules aren’t followed correctly, theaccuracy of error separation will be affected badly, and even the error figure got will be a distortionresult. Through a discussion on the characters of error separation technology, eight rules forchoosing error separation parameters of multi-probe method are made in this paper. These rules areregarded as the general laws to follow when measuring the geometrical error by multi-probemethod. Based on the results of the online measurement experiment, the parameter selection rulesare proved to be effective

Notes: There are some applications of error separation technique in actual measurement. Howeverthere exists a series of theoretical and technical obstacles, and the error separation technique lacks theobjective assessment. The further discussion about the character of error separation technique bymulti-probe method is made in this paper and six criteria for precision measurement of errorseparation technique by multi-probe method is also advanced. That is, (1) The criterion for veracity oferror separation; (2) The criterion for periodicity of combination signal; (3) The criterion for theremnant first-harmonic in combination signal; (4) The criterion for validity of error separation results;(5) The criterion for validity of probes’ fixing angles ; (6) The criterion for nonzero character ofweight function. These criteria are significant for the objective evaluation of the measuring apparatus’measurement precision, the validity of the sampling data, and the confidence level of error separationresults. The validity of the measuring condition was proved by the online measurement experiment

Notes: This paper develops one-dimensional and two-dimensional models for bending, coupledbending and extension of isotropic beams/plates with induced strain actuators. The adhesive layerbetween the actuator and the structure is considered in the Bernoulli-Euler formulation and the resultsfor various models are compared with the uniform strain model which includes the shear lag effectswith assumption of a finite thickness of adhesive layer. The reduction in actuation as a result of straindistribution inside the actuator is considered to improve the prediction ability of the existing modelbased on the Bernoulli-Euler formulation. The FEM model is also developed to study the straintransfer in the beam. Finally, an experimental test employing a macro fiber composite (MFC) actuatoris carried out to evaluate the accuracy and limitations of the developed models. The models are ingood agreement with the experimental results

Notes: The development of a flight simulator is a challenging work because of its complexityand tremendous cost. We implement a prototype composed of PC cluster and have proved itscoordination character as a flight training device. This paper describes the architecture of the flightsimulator, the software development tools and hardware platform. These software and hardwareconstitute a PC based simulation environment and make the expense of the simulation applicationaffordable. We also present the simulation modeling process. For the integrity of the cueing system,we designed a virtual prototype of motion system and connected it to the flight simulator. Theintegrated system gave us a chance to testify the coordination of the simulator. The verificationmethod and result are presented to show the feasibility of the design based on PC

Notes: In this paper, the three-dimensional charge redistribution of IPMC material underdynamic electric potentials with uncertainty in surface conductivity is studied. The governingequations of charge redistribution are derived from the Nernst-Planck equation, the Poissonequation, the mass conservation equation and the basic electrostatic equations. The surfaceconductivity is viewed as a Gaussian distribution. A travelling wave type analytical solution isobtained to account for the three-dimensional cation movement under the applied electric potentials

Notes: The precision machining of the rail base for high-speed Magnetically Levitated Trains(MAGLEV) is the precondition for laying the high-quality whole rail and accomplishing theintegrative performance test of the train. A new method is advanced to improving the machiningprecision in this paper. The X and Y coordinates of the cross centers on the rail base for MAGLEV willbe obtained through two raster displacement sensors which are perpendicular to each other. So themachining datum position of the rail will be determined. According to the spatial position relationshipbetween the straight movement error of the guideway on the numerical control machine tools and thecentral line of the rail base for MAGLEV, error compensation will be made to improve the machiningprecision in the process of the numerical control machining. The mechanism design theory of themeasuring system is presented in this paper. On basis of both the design theory and the softwareplatform of LabWindows/CVI, the virtual measurement system for measuring straight movementerror of the rail on the numerical control machine tool, which is used to machining the rail base forMAGLEV will be established

Notes: 3A21 metal sheet was shocked by Nd-glass laser in oblique angle under the function ofpulse energy 42 J, pulse width 23 ns, pulse power 1.2×109 W, the angle between input beam andnormal of sample is 30°. The center of the deformation of the sheet is 3 mm away from thegeometric center. Residual stresses of crossing center side in length direction and the distribution ofspace in the positive and negative sides are measured by XRD, which are compressive stress 100MPa. The diagonal length of the sheet is longer than the one of the crossing center side in lengthdirection, the force that needs to form in the diagonal direction is bigger, so compressive stress ismuch bigger. The capstone of the square sheet is squeezed, the procession seriously increase, socompressive stress is the biggest one
