Organic Syntheses in the Plasma of Glow Discharges, VI1) Reactions of Nitrobenzene and NitrosobenzeneNitrobenzene and nitrosobenzene vapors are passed through the plasma of a RF glow discharge. Both compounds decompose easily. The reaction products indicate three different ways of decomposition with the intermediates C6H5O, C6H5 and dehydrobenzene. While the first two fragments also appear in the photolysis of nitro- and nitrosobenzene and in their mass spectra, the decomposition via dehydrobenzene seems to be a peculiarity of the plasma reactions.

Beim Zerfall des Nitrobenzols im Plasma von Glimmentladungen lassen sich drei verschiedene Reaktionswege erkennen. Der erste führt, nach Isomerisierung zum Phenylnitrit und NO-Abspaltung, über das Phenoxy-Fragment, der zweite unter Abspaltung des Substituenten über Phenyl-Bruchstücke und der dritte unter HNO2-Eliminierung über Dehydrobenzol. Die beiden ersten Mechanismen haben Parallelen in der photochemischen und der massenspektrometrischen Fragmentierung, der dritte zeigt sich als Besonderheit der Plasma-Umsetzungen. - Beim Zerfall des Nitrosobenzols haben ebenfalls Phenoxy- und Phenyl-Fragmente sowie Dehydrobenzol als Zwischenstufen eine Schlüsselstellung.
