Description: This data set contains the UAV-based lidar data of a forest succession dataset in the context of boreal ecosystems survey. The data provides structural and biophysical information on forest state, structure, topography, morphology, disturbance (wildfire, thaw slumps, windfall), thermokarst lake-shore interfaces, among others. Main data products are Lidar-based 3D point clouds. Lidar survey was conducted over 21 selected vegetation transects. Each transect (500m by 200m) contains at least one ground vegetation reference plot (https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.943547). The data was acquired in August and early September 2021 (07.08.2021 - 01.09.2021) along an extended 670 km line segment in Central and Eastern Yakutia (Republic of Sakha), Siberia, Russia. The principal study areas are the intramontane Oymyakon region in the Verkhoyansk mountain range near Lake "Ulu", and the central-eastern Yakutian lowlands with a slightly different ecological setting. A transect was covered by UAV-based Lidar at flight heights between 60-100 m above ground level. Subsequent analysis and segmentation algorithms allows single-tree crown and canopy analysis.

Description: This data set contains the UAV-based multispectral dense point clouds of a forest succession dataset in the context of boreal ecosystems survey. The data provides structural and biophysical information on forest state, structure, disturbance (wildfire, thaw slumps, windfall), thermokarst lake-shore interfaces, among others. The photogrammetric survey was conducted over 21 selected vegetation transects using the Micansense Altum multispectral camera. Each transect (500m by 200m) contains at least one ground vegetation reference plot (https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.943547).

Description: His critically acclaimed debut feature, Hideouts (1986), established screenwriter and director Wolfram Paulus (1957–2020) as an important voice of New Austrian Film. Paulus devoted his career to chronicling his homeland and its inhabitants. Over the course of the 1990s, he transitioned from stylistically ambitious character studies for cinema to TV films with broad public appeal. Drama and comedy were his preferred genres. He also directed children’s films and dwelled on historical topics, mostly from the National Socialist period. Beyond the well-known fictional features, Paulus created experimental and documentary works. Moreover, he was a committed pedagogue and produced many educational films with pupils. This edited collection offers interdisciplinary perspectives on Paulus’ multifaceted oeuvre, which has previously received little scholarly attention. The chapters examine production and reception, motifs and aesthetic strategies, film education and unmade projects. This is complemented by a detailed filmography and interviews with Wolfram Paulus and his colleagues.

Description: The data publication contains the compilation of global heat-flow data by the International Heat Flow Commission (IHFC; www.ihfc-iugg.org) of the International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior (IASPEI). The presented data update 2023 contains data generated between 1939 and 2022 and constitutes the first intermediate update benefiting from the global collaborative assessment and quality control of the Global Heat Flow Database running since May 2021 (http://assessment.ihfc-iugg.org).

Description: Limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C, as agreed in the 2015 Paris Agreement, requires global carbon neutrality by mid-century at the latest. The corresponding carbon budget is decreasing steadily and significantly. To phase out carbon emissions in line with the specified temperature target, countries are formulating their mitigation efforts in their long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies (LT-LEDS). However, there are no standardized specifications for preparing these strategies, which is why the reports published to date differ widely in terms of structure and scope. To consider the multiple facets of reaching net-zero from a systemic perspective as comprehensively as possible, the authors propose the Net-Zero-2050 System: A novel, transferrable systems approach that supports the development of national endeavors toward carbon neutrality. The Net-Zero-2050 System is defined by three interconnected components: The Carbon-Emission-Based System, the surrounding Framing System and a set of system boundaries. For both systems levels, IPCC approaches were used as a basis and were then adjusted and supplemented by Net-Zero-2050. We suggest applying the Net-Zero-2050 System—beyond the project environment—in carbon emission based contexts at different levels. Especially at the national level, this would improve the comparability of the different national strategies to achieve carbon neutrality.

Description: EnMAP (Environmental Mapping and Analysis Program) is a high-resolution imaging spectroscopy remote sensing mission that was successfully launched on April 1st, 2022. Equipped with a prism-based dualspectrometer, EnMAP performs observations in the spectral range between 418.2 nm and 2445.5 nm with 224 bands and a high radiometric and spectral accuracy and stability. EnMAP products, with a ground instantaneous field-of-view of 30 m×30 m at a swath width of 30 km, allow for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of surface variables from frequently and consistently acquired observations on a global scale. This article presents the EnMAP mission and details the activities and results of the Launch and Early Orbit and Commissioning Phases until November 1st, 2022. The mission capabilities and expected performances for the operational Routine Phase are provided for existing and future EnMAP users.
