    Conductometric and Potentiometric Study of the interaction between sodium succinate and thorium chloride (1963)

    Notes: The interaction between sodium succinate and thorium chloride solutions in presence of glucose solutions of suitable concentrations has been investigated adopting conductometric and potentiometric titration methods. The experimental data shows the formation of the normal disuccinate, Th (C4H4O4)2, near about the point of equivalence, where the ratio of metal : succinate is nearly 1:2. In the absence of glucose solutions a highly unstable colloidal solution is obtained. Addition of peptiser viz., glucose, increases the stability and the rapid precipitation of the dispersed phase is controlled in a manner as to give stable and transparent gels. The conductometric and potentiometric titration curves are explained.

    Notes: Durch Umsetzung von meso-1,4-Di-halogen-butandiolen-(2,3) mit Äthyl- bzw. Methylamin bei 95° entstehen die N-Alkyl-3,4-dihydroxypyrrolidine. Dimethyl- und Diäthylamin sowie Piperidin reagieren mit den genannten Halogenalkoholen unter Bildung von N, N-Di-alkyl-3,4-dihydroxy-pyrrolidiniumsalzen. Pyrrolidin liefert dagegen unter vergleichbaren Bedingungen das 1,4-Di-pyrrolidino-butandiol-(2,3). Der Reaktionsmechanismus wird diskutiert und mit dem verwandter Reaktionen verglichen.

    Notes: Die Umsetzung von Triarylsilanen mit Allylbromid in Gegenwart von AlCl3 gestattet es, die entsprechenden Triarylbromsilane in guten Ausbeuten zu erhalten. Erstmalig wurden dargestellt: Tris(p-fluorphenyl)bromsilan, Tris(p-chlorphenyl)bromsilan und Tritolylbromsilan.Aus dem bisher noch unbekannten Tris(p-bromphenyl)silan wurde durch Bromierung in CCl4 das Tris(p-bromphenyl)bromsilan erhalten. In Gegenwart von Katalysatoren wird Allylbromid von Triorganosilanen zu Triorgano-3-brompropylsilanen addiert. Es werden einige typische Reaktionen mit diesen Verbindungen beschrieben.Beim Umsatz von Triarylsilanen mit Vinyl- und Allylhalogeniden bei Temperaturen von 580-640° erhält man Triarylalkenylsilane und Triarylhalogensilane. Einige neue Silane und zwar Tritolylallylsilan, Tris(p-chlorphenyl)allylsilan und Tris(p-chlorphenyl)-vinylsilan wurden isoliert.Von den Triarylsilanen und einigen anderen hocharylierten Silanen wurden die IR-Spektren aufgenommen und aus der SiH-Valenzschwingung die Elektronegativität der Silylgruppe und die Kraftkonstante der SiH-Bindung annähernd berechnet.

    Notes: Two new selective reagents in the series of nitrophenylhydrazones of vicinal diketomonoximes, p-nitro- and 2:4, dinitro-phenylhydrazones of 2-methyl-3 oximo-pentanone-4 are repeated. Both show high sensitivity for cobalt. Limits of identification and dilution limits for the reagents have been determined as 0.2 microgram and 1:500,000 respectively.

    Notes: On the basis of degradative work and spectroscopic evidence structure 3 has been derived for photosantoninic acid, a dimeric compound previously obtained by the action of UV.-light on alcaline solutions of santonin (1). The stereochemistry of the compound and the mechanism of its formation from lumisantonin (2), a known photoisomer of 1, in an alkali-catalyzed process are briefly discussed.

    Notes: From theoretical considerations, it can be predicted that electron-withdrawing substituents on an olefin will stabilize the π-bond formed by the latter with zerovalent transition metals in complexes such as π-olefin iron tetracarbonyl. In agreement with this iron tetracarbonyl complexes have been prepared with ligands such as maleic, fumaric, citraconic, acrylic, methacrylic and cinnarnic acids and their derivatives. The structures of these compounds have been confirmed by analytical, IR and NMR data.

    Notes: Durch Erhitzen large sich das aus Tubotaiwin erhältliche Indolenin Condyfolin teilweise in Tubifolin und reversibel in 20-epi-Condyfolin um. Tubifolin und Condy-folin liefern mit Kaliumboranat die selbe Indol VIII, das sich durch Dehydrierung mit Sauerstoff wiederum in Tubifolin und Condyfolin zurückumwandeln lässt. Durch diese Umwandlungen finden die für Condylocarpin und Tubotaiwin aufgestellten Strukturen eine Bestätigung; gleichzeitig ist damit die absolute Konfi-guration dieser Alkaloide und des Stemmadenins bestimmt. In allen diesen Alka-loiden besitzt das Zentrum 15 dieselbe absolute Konfiguration. Auf die mögliche Bedeutung des Indols X als Vorläufer für die Biogenese dieser Alkaloide wird hinge-wiesen.

    Notes: The NMR. spectra of the five monomethylazulenes and of some polysubstituted azulenes, as well as those of their conjugate acids (azulenium cations), are recorded. It is shown that protonation of azulenes lacking C2v symmetry leads to a tautomeric equilibrium of two conjugate acids. The position of this tautomeric equilibrium is in essential agreement with the one previously predicted from the UV. spectra on the basis of a MO treatment.
