Description: This open access book provides integrated treatment technology of rural domestic sewage, and highlights ten typical cases in China. The integrated sewage treatment system (ISTE) combine sewage pretreatment, biological treatment, sedimentation, and disinfection, which particularly suitable for decentralized domestic wastewater treatment in rural areas without pipe networks. The main advantages of ISTE include the compact structure, small footprint, short construction period, high treatment efficiency, and economical rationality. First applied in Japan, ISTE has recently achieved rapid growth in China in the last decade. The relevant technological R&D, practice, and promotion experience accumulated by Chinese enterprises can offer significant reference to other developing countries and regions. The book consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces characteristics, environmental risks and management styles of rural domestic sewage. The second chapter illustrates the collection and treatment approaches for rural domestic sewage. The third chapter presents the integrated sewage treatment process of high efficiency. The fourth chapter involves the design concept, manufacturing requirements, automatic control, and the cloud management system for ISTE. Chapter five covers ten typical application cases of ISTE in multiple regions of China. This book is suitable for graduate students, engineers, university teachers and government administrators engaged in decentralized sewage treatment.

Notes: Abstract The evolutionary position of the yew family, Taxaceae, has been very controversial. Some plant taxonomists strongly advocate excluding Taxaceae from the conifer order and raising its taxonomic status to a new order or even class because of its absence of seed cones, contrary to the case in the majority of conifers. However, other authors believe that the Taxaceae are not fundamentally different from the rest of the conifers except in that they possess the most reduced solitary-ovule cones. To resolve the controversy, we have sequenced the 18S rRNA genes from representative gymnosperms: Taxus mairei (Taxaceae), Podocarpus nakaii (Podocarpaceae), Pinus luchuensis (Pinaceae), and Ginkgo biloba (Ginkgoales). Our phylogenetic analysis of the new sequence data with the published 18S rRNA sequence of Zamia pumila (a cycad) as an outgroup strongly indicates that Taxus, Pinus, and Podocarpus form a monophyletic group with the exclusion of Ginkgo and that Taxus is more closely related to Pinus than to Podocarpus. Therefore, Taxaceae should be classified as a family of Coniferales. Our finding that Taxaceae, Pinaceae, and Podocarpaceae form a clade contradicts both the view that the uniovulate seed of Taxaceae is a primitive character and the view that the Taxaceae are descendants of the Podocarpaceae. Rather, the uniovulate seed of Taxaceae and that of some species of Podocarpus appear to have different origins, probably all reduced from multiovulate cones.

Notes: In this paper the effect of isothermal forging process parameters on the microstructure andthe mechanical properties of TA15 titanium alloy was researched. The results of the tests indicatethat, in the range of temperature of 850 ºC~980 ºC and deformation degree of 20%~60%, with theincrease of temperature or deformation, as the reinforcement of deformation recrystallization, theprimary α-phase tends to the spherical shape and secondary α-phase transforms from the acicularshape to fine and spherical shape with disperse distribution, which enhance the tensile properties atroom and high temperature. With the increment of forging times, the spheroidization of primaryα-phase aggrandizes and secondary α-phase transforms from spherical and acicular shape to widestrip shape, which decrease the tensile properties at room and high temperature. The preferableisothermal forging process parameters are temperature of 980 ºC, deformation degree of 60%, andfew forging times

Notes: 0.85Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.10BaTiO3-0.05PbTiO3 (abbreviated as PZN-based ceramicshereafter) ternary system ceramics with Zn2+ deficiency were synthesized by the columbite method. The effect of deficient Zn2+ on phase structure, ordered micro-region size and dielectric propertieswas investigated in detail. The analysis of Raman scattering spectra demonstrated that Zn2+ deficiencysharply enlarged the ordered micro-region size. Zn2+ deficiency significantly increased the dielectricconstant, and decreased the diffusion degree of phase transition. There is a close correlation betweeneffective ordered micro-regions size and dielectric properties for the PZN-based ceramics

Notes: A novel method for characterizing a high actuating capability light-weight actuator isdescribed and analyzed. The actuator comprises a truss core and smart face-sheets which result inbending. The deformation of this beam actuator is obtained by changing voltage inside face-sheetsmade from smart material. Materials selections are discussed for practice, and then optimization isdesigned to ascertain minimum weight or maximum achievable displacement subject to two typesof constrains. Results show the composite trusses have higher stiffness and strength than metaltrusses. Comparisons with two corrugated core actuators, the truss-core design has better actuatingcapability at specified weight

Notes: In the piezoelectric truss structure with many random parameters under incipient defect, taking into consideration the mechanical-electric coupling effect under electric load and mechanicalload, the formula of safety margins of bar have been proposed by the fracture intensity, bar sectionarea and loads as random variables. On the base of above research, stochastic finite element methodis adopted to attempt to analyze reliability of the piezoelectric truss structure. In the end, theexample is given to demonstrate the influence of voltage and of damage on reliability index of thepiezoelectric truss system

Notes: The role of the basic factors in the wet fiber winding process was investigated from thepoint of view of the actual wet-wound parameters and the property of composite material. In thepresent work, a PBO fiber-reinforced epoxy-matrix composite material was prepared by a wetfiber-winding process. The effects of processing factors such as the volume fraction of PBO fiber, the preheating temperature of mandrel, the infiltration temperature and time of epoxy resin, andwinding tension, on the tensile strength and interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of the unidirectionalcomposite materials were investigated. To evaluate correctly how the above-mentioned parametersaffect the mechanical performances of the composite materials, a pair of standardized pressurevessels with a diameter of 150 mm were fabricated via the winding method. The optimumconditions are obtained as follows: the preheating temperature of mandrel is 60-70 °C, windingtension is 30-40 N, and the penetration temperature and time of epoxy resin into PBO fiber are 45°C and 1-2 s, respectively. Under the conditions, the ILSS and tensile strength of the compositematerials are 30 MPa and 2980 MPa, respectively. The burst pressure and performance factor of themanufactured pressure vessels is as high as 34 MPa and 60.4 km, respectively. It is demonstratedthat high quality rings and vessels can be efficiently manufactured by methods described in thepaper
