Description: An artificial Reef is a fabricated, underwater structure, typically built for promoting marine life in areas of generally featureless bottom. Creating artificial reefs began from 2000 in southern provinces in Iran. This study has surveyed about the Bushehr and Khozestan states. The objective is to determine the effectiveness of artificial reefs in attracting and enhancing the production different aquatics through increasing of fish assemblage and fishery. The performance of artificial reefs deployed off the coast of the Persian Gulf in 10 to 15m, was evaluated. The reefs comprised of seven artificial and one control (natural) statistical tests plan in three replicates. Three types of artificial reefs were used in this study. That two were designed reefs and one was not designed or used material. The experimental plan consisted (i) Reef ball (R), designed hemispherical shaped; (ii) Laneh Mahi (L), designed pyramid shaped; (iii) Used material (U); (iv) mixed (RL); (v) mixed (RU); (vi) mixed (LU); (vii) mixed (RLU); and (viii) control site (CS). Trap nets and under-water visual census surveys were adopted for seasonal sampling of fish aggregation. Results of statistical analysis using ANOVA and T-test of the mean Catch per Unit Effort (CPUE) showed significant difference (p〈0.05) in term of computing number of fish for aggregation of fishes. The study has concluded that reef deployments have influenced favorably the fish communities and fish harvests. Therefore, the artificial reefs, especially the mixed RLU, are appropriate tools for future fishing enhancement in the Persian Gulf of Iran.

Description: Marine aquacultures growth require good quality water is leading to high efficiency and low risk to human health. In other words, the water quality is a critical factor to success and failure of the aquaculture industry. The aim of this project is to study water quality and the trophic status at the different depths and layers in the southern Caspian Sea based on environmental parameters and nutrients during three periods (2008, 2009 and 2010-2011) in order the feasibility of fish cage. Results showed that water temperature, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen were varied 5.50-32.60 ̊C, 3.50- 10.00 m, 7.15-8.80 and 3.18-12.00 mg/l at the different depths and layers, respectively. In addition, The values of NH4+, NH3, NO2-, NO3- and PO4-3 were 0.001-0.140 mg/l, 0.01-22.63 µg/l, 0.1-21.2 µg/l, 0.001-0.423 mg/l and 0.008-0.071 mg/l, respectively. Inorganic nitrogen (DIN/N), inorganic phosphorous (DIP/P) and total phosphorous (TP) were registerd 0.68-14.75, 0.07-0.68 and 0.01-2.67 µM, respectively. Thermal startification are more important for fish-breeding. Thermal stratification was occurred from depths greater than 20 m in late spring to early fall in the Caspian Sea. Optimum transparency for fish farming cage was considered less than 5 meter which in this study were recorded from 20 to 50 meter depths. The range of the standard of pH and dissolved oxygen for fish farming cage were 7.80-8.50 and 〉5 mg /l that in current study results of pH and dissolved oxygen were consistent.Various forms of nitrogen (ammonium, nitrite and nitrate ) at the different layers were acceptable and less than the threshold limit of Australia and New Zealand. But, phosphate value was more than threshold limit of Australia and New Zealand at some layers depth during years of 2009 and 2010- 2011. The results of the nutrients compared with data from the reference year (1996-1996 ) in the Caspian Sea was shown that this ecosystem passed oligotrophic status and shifted to mezotrophic and eutrophic condition. In addition, the values of NH4/N, NO3/N and DIP/P compared with eutrophic condition of reference year (2005) showed that Caspian ecosystem was not passed euotrophic condition and it still under mezotrophic status. As a conclusion, it seems that offshore of the Caspian Sea (depths between 20 to 50 meter) were suitable for different species of fish for cage culture. But, since 2000 decayds the Caspian Sea has experienced four times algal bloom (toxic and harmful species) and in recent years a number of other species also has reached to bloom potential and also mezotrophic condition of this ecosystem, it is appropriate that the establishment of fish farming cages carried out as a pilot to more precautionary approach which not lead to environmental disaster.

Description: This investigation conducted for evaluation Silo (Cylindrical) Fish Tanks as an applicable method for aquaculture of Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Current research was designed in two practical phases as accidental experiments through 3 treatments and repeats of which stocked by three Rainbow trout (375 gr) densities as 75, 100 and 125 fish/m3 in 9 silo fish tanks (2 m3). For better understandings of the silo performance method, concrete circular fish tanks (similar volume) considered as controls and stocked as similar fish densities as silo tanks. The duration of the first phase of experiment was 150 days. The second phase of the experiment was determined for evaluating two proposed silo type (Inlet and outlet in bottom side / Inlet from bottom and outlet in upper side). In this stage, proposed silos (stocked by fish of 294 gr weigh) tested for rearing trout for 30 days. Water supplied from two surface wells after some aeration operations. Stocked fish were fed by pellets made by Fish Feed Chineh Company (Ltd) in Iran. Feeding operation conducted according to the recognized manuals by consideration of water temperature, fish weight and biomass. Meanwhile, biometry operation conducted in 10 days intervals while fish were anaesthetized. In addition, water quality was determined by daily measurements. According to the results of the first phase of experiment, there were significant variations on Growth rate, survival rate, FCR, FCE and SGR through the cultured organisms in silo tanks compared to the circular tanks. Meanwhile, according the results of an economic study on this survey, the fish culture in silo tanks showed significant economical and profitable in compare to controls. In additions, the second phase of experiment showed better aeration conditions in silo tanks when inlet water supply from bottom side and outlet located in upper side. Because of the fine distribution of fish in silo tanks and more usage of depth by this method, fish culture would be an applicable and profitable technique in narrow lands and slopes through the mountains area. The maximum stocking rate recorded more than 100 Kg fish/m3 in silo tanks.

Description: Responsible aquaculture is a new concept in Iran but in some countries there are good historical performances. In fact this concept is as the spacial challenge for developing countries in order to improvement of aquaculturist livelihood. In bangladesh, near to 60% of the people, which the most of are villagers, live under the poor line . Developing the NGOs and their activities to reach the responsible aquaculture objectives were so effective, since this activity has been knew as profitable acuaculture and many international workshops, symposiums and conferences have been held in this regard all the world . In this project, a complex of parameters affected on preparing manegement of warmwater fish farms have been studied with using previous studies and experiments of different countries and executive guidelines of four modules prepared including: - Guidline of preparing of warmwater fish ponds - Guidline of water enrichment and using fertilization in warmwater fish ponds - Guidline of using aeration in warmwater fish ponds - Guidline of stocking method in warmwater fish ponds

Description: In order to do an economic study and measure the productivity of the factors of production of the coldwater fish in Kermanshah province, all of the active farms of this province in 2015 agricultural year have been chosen as the statistical population. A part of the required data for this study is taken from the published official statics, and another part is collected through interviews via questionnaires with fish farmers and the experts of the fishery department of Kermanshah. Then using Eviews software and with the ordinary least square (OLS) method, the production functions have been estimated; and through the priority model test, Cobb-Douglas production function was finally chosen. Results show that the variables of the geographic location, education, the number of the released juvenile fish, the number of juvenile fish losses and using the aeration devices have a significant effect on the amount of the production (p〈0.05). The sum of the coefficients of independent variables in the estimated production function is around 0.08, which indicates decreasing (downward) returns to scale. The production elasticity of aeration devices and water-returning pumps is more than the other inputs, suggesting that this input should be used more appropriately for this economic activity. Also the coefficient of the number of juvenile fish is 0.69, which indicates that if the number of juvenile fish is increased one percent, the production of fish will increase by 0.69 percent; and the demand for more released fish shows the direction toward the optimal production. In this study, results have indicated that the experience of the farm manager has no significant impact on the production (p〉0.05), but education has a significant and positive effect (p〈0.05). Expressing that technological level in this activity is high. Since this industry is a new activity in this non-coastal province, Kermanshah, so it seems logical that the educational level of employers would have a significant effect on the production. The comparision of the production function and the lnTFP functions indicates that some of the factors of production, which had a significant effect on the production function, have no significant effect on the productivity, and vice versa. Hence, this leads us to the point that to achieve a greater profitability and an optimal utilization of the factors of production, the estimation of the production function is necessary, but not sufficient; rather for a more accurate assessment of using the factors of production, in addition to estimating the production function, calculating the productivity indexes and estimating TFP function is demanded, so that a more complete study is provided.

Description: Selecting suitable sites for the establishment of cage based aquaculture has a very important role in aquaculture development and investment success. In Iran, there is a growing tendency for seawater aquaculture development due to the limited resources of freshwater. In the present study, the effective biotic and abiotic factors in cage culture that were collected through the hydrological and hydrobiological studies from 1387 to 1389 were analyzed. Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea from shoreline to the depth of 100 meters were investigated with the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Analysis was carried out based on the site selection criteria including the minimum depth of 20 m, short distance from the beach, no interference with other maritime activities, being at least 5 km far from the river mouth and the most suitable environmental parameters. Results indicated that Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea were appropriate for cage culture in which, central region between the cities of Kheshtsar to Kiashahr with an approximate length of 245 km was the first priority and the western and eastern regions were the second and the third priorities for aquaculture development, respectively. In central region, the match compliance criteria for the establishment of floating cages were 80 to 97.5 percent and the suitability of the environmental conditions were increased from the east to the west. Fourteen sites out of the fifteen suitable sites, which had the most appropriate conditions for the establishment of floating cages, were in a region between Chaboksar and the western part of Sepidroud River and the remaining site was in Tonekabon region.
