Notes:
The paper deals with the measurement of the second order derivatives of the gravitational potential over a buried anticline. During the early part of the work considerable instrumental difficulties were encountered. These were mostly caused by the rapid temperature fluctuations during the night in South-west Persia, where the investigation was carried out. The magnitude and direction of the gravitational force due to the underground mass have been obtained at a number of points on the surface. The dimensions of the anticlinal mass, and approximate values for the densities of the two uppermost media, have been deduced from the measurements.
