Magnetic field effect on a Heusler-type Ni2MnGa off-stoichiometric alloy having a martensitictransformation temperature around room temperature which is coincident with a Curie temperaturehas been investigated. The process of martensitic transformation of a single crystal wasinvestigated by neutron diffraction under the magnetic field up to 8 [T]. It was found that the magneticfield, which is applied at a temperature near the transformation temperature, causes the martensitictransformation. The process of the transformation caused by the increase in magnetic field is quitesimilar to the process caused by the decrease in temperature
