Notes: At GSI typical currents for injection into the Wideröe are in the range of μA to 1 mA, depending on the specific ion. After upgrading the UNILAC with a high-current injector (Beam Intensity Upgrade of the GSI Accelerator Facility, A Technical Status Report, GSI Report GSI-95-05, June 1995), these currents will be in the range of up to several mA. For the design ion (U4+) up to 15 mA are desired to reach the space charge limit of the planned RFQ. The input energy of the RFQ is 2.5 keV/u requiring a dc voltage of about 150 kV. This voltage will be distributed to the extraction (30–50 kV) and to the dc acceleration column (about 100 kV). © 1996 American Institute of Physics.
