We derive a generalized Gel'fand–Levitan integral equation for two block Ablowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur systems. This is possible if we suppose that the matrix coupling coefficients are invertible and come from simple zeroes of the determinant of the diagonal blocks of the scattering matrix. © 1999 American Institute of Physics.
