A new formulation for the scattered field from a two dimensional conducting cylinder coated with a lossy magnetic material is presented for transverse electric polarization of the incident field. A conduction current on the conducting surface and a magnetic polarization current in the coating material is supposed to be induced when an electromagnetic field is incident over the cylinder. The scattered field is supposed to be originated in these induced currents. Two H-field integral equations are developed, which are then solved by the Method of Moments to find these currents. Scattering cross section for circular configuration is calculated and compared with exact solution. Good agreement of results is achieved. The advantage of the formulation is that it solves the scattered field without the computation of complex argument Hankel functions. Second, by considering the polarization of the magnetic coating, the effects of surface wave excitation are automatically included in the solution.
