    Notes: A procedure is given by which the structure-dependent spurious maxima common to all reciprocal-space translation functions may be confidently eliminated. Trial calculations confirm the efficacy of the procedure toward reducing the number and magnitude of such structure-dependent spurious maxima, but also indicate the limitations of the method to compensate for structure-independent noise introduced into translation syntheses as the size and structural accuracy of the test fragment are reduced.
