Description / Table of Contents: Abstract An infrared spectroscopic study shows that malonyl chloride and monosubstituted malonyl chlorides are cleaved at about 80–100° C yielding HCl and ketene carboxylic acid chlorides. Diphenyl malonates are cleaved at about 250° to ketene acid esters.

Notes: Zusammenfassung Malonylchlorid und monosubstituierte Malonsäurechloride spalten, wie IR-spektroskopisch eindeutig festgestellt werden kann, in Lösung bei 80 bis 100° HCl unter Bildung von Ketencarbonsäurechloriden ab. Phenolester solcher Malonsäuren geben beim Erhitzen auf etwa 250 bis 270° Ketensäureester.
