Notes: Abstract  We investigate the intermittent nature of turbulence and the phenomenon of turbulent drag reduction by linear, flexible high molecular weight polymers using Photon Correlation Spectroscopy. Our results support the existence of small scale coherent structures and inactive regions in turbulent flows. We further investigate turbulent drag reduction whereby polymer-eddy interaction result in the modification of the turbulent energy cascade.
