Notes: Summary Barite, celestite, anhydrite and anglesite are easily dissolved in hydroxylamine-hydrochloride-nitric acid solutions by heating to the boiling point for several minutes. The solutions can be used for determinations of trace and major elements by AAS, ICP-OES and ICP-MS. Depending on the amount of mineral dissolved, even rare earth elements can be determined, provided their concentration is not too small. The dissolution may be performed by microwave furnace-heating in teflon-bombs.
