Description / Table of Contents:
Reactive rigid foams are prepared by polycondensation of compounds which contain acetoacetic ester groups. These acetoacetic esters are synthesized by reaction of polyols with diketene or by copolymerisation of allyl acetoacetate with vinyl acetate, vinyl isobutyrate or vinyl chloride. They are condensed with formaldehyde and secondary diamines to high molecular products. Use of the corresponding carbamates opens a direct route to foams with open cells, because carbondioxide is liberated in the course of the condensation and serves as a blowing agent. The addition of low-boiling liquids is also possible.Piperazine carbamate brought the best results in relation to reaction rate and physical properties. Moreover the carbamates of N-alkyl substituted α,ω-diaminoethanes, -butenes-(2), -butanes and -hexanes were tested. Due to the low water sensitivity of the foaming systems aqueous polymerdispersions can also be foamed.
Notes:
