A triangular plate element, allowing transverse shear deformations, is developed in this paper. The element is compatible and employs rotations and slopes as well as lateral deflection as degrees of freedom. Through static condensation it is possible to remove the slopes and form a less complex, incompatible element, involving only the lateral deflection and rotations. Illustrative examples are presented to demonstrate the performance of the element before and after condensation.
