Description / Table of Contents: Gold Nitrogen Heterocycles 2. Synthesis, Properties, and Structure of N-Methyla nido Dimethyl Gold(III), [(CH3)2AuNHCH3]2.The reaction of (CH3)2AuI with LiNHCH3 yields dimeric N-methylamido dimethyl gold(III) besides small quantities of higher aggregates. [(CH3)2AuNHCH3]2 is an air-stable, white compound, which decomposes by irradiation with light. Monoclinic single crystals can be obtained by sublimation under vacuum. [(CH3)2AuNHCH3]2 crystallizes in the space group C2/c with the lattice constants a = 1751.7(8), b = 398,3(7), c = 1868.8(9) pm and β = 124.61(4)°. The unit cell contains four dimers with symmetry C2v. In the bent four membered Au - N heterocyclus the Au atoms are linked together by symmetric amido bridges with Au—N distances of 214 pm. IR, H-NMR, and mass spectra are discussed.
