The Constitution of Silicate Anions in Crystalline 2 PbO · SiO2By heating a glass of the composition 2 PbO · SiO2 for 24 hours at 500°C, a crystalline lead silicate was made, which is according to X-ray diffraction and IR-absorption measurements identical with the M1-Pb2SiO4 described by Billhardt. The Constitution of silicate anions in this lead silicate was investigated using the molybdate method in combination with paper chromatography. It was found, that in the crystalline 2 PbO · SiO2 tetrameric ring anions [Si4O12]8- are present.

Aus einem Glas der Zusammensetzung 2 PbO·SiO2 wurde durch 24ständiges Tempern bei 500°C ein kristallines Bleisilicat hergestellt, welches nach röntgenographischen und IR-Absorptionsmessungen mit dem von Billhardt beschriebenem M1-Pb2SiO4 identisch ist. Untersuchungen zur Konstitution der Silicatanionen in dieser Substanz, die mit Hilfe der Papierchromatographie und der Molybdatmethode durchgeführt wurden, ergaben, daß im kristallinen Bleisilicat Cyclotetrasilicatanionen [Si4O12]8- vorliegen.
