Sr2CuO3 was prepared and the structure determined by investigation of single crystal X-ray patterns. It has an orthorhombic symmetry. The space group is D252h - Immm with a = 12,68, b = 3,91 and c = 3,48 Å. Sr2CuO3 shows isolated endless Cu/O-chains with a coplanar neighbourhood of four oxygens around copper and a trigonal oxygen neighbourhood of Sr2+. The systematical connection of the trigonal polygons building up the lattice is discussed.

Sr2CuO3 wurde dargestellt und an Einkristallen röntgenorgaphisch untersucht. Es hat orthorhombische Symmetrie, Raumgruppe D252h - Immm, mit a = 12,688, b = 3,91 und c = 3,48 Å. Im Sr2CuO3 gibt es isolierte, eindimensionale unendliche Cu/O. Ketten, in denen das Cu2+-Ion eine quadratische und exakt planare Umegebung von O2--Ionen hat. Ketten entstehen durch die systematische Verknüpfung der trigonalen Sauerstoffprismen um Sr2+. Der Kristallbau wird eingehend diskutiert.
