Description / Table of Contents: Whereas the halides of 3d elements are almost insoluble in SiCl4, ferrocene, bis-cyclopentadienyl nickel, and the acetylacetonates of Cr(III) and Co(III) are dissolved in SiCl4 in measurable amounts. The 1,3 dicetonates of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Fe(III) react under formation of salts containing the tris(1,3-dicetonato)-silicon(IV) cation. No solvation or reaction occurs with the diacetyldioximates of Cu(II) and Ni(II) in pure SiCl4, in the presence of HCl, however, these inner-complexes are transformed to the corresponding normal complexes
