The catalytic activity of Cr2O3/SnO2 mixed oxides is compared with the activation energy of conductivity (AEC) using the oxidation of SO2 as test reaction.The most catalytically active mixed oxides exhibit the lowest AEC. Furthermore, activity and AEC are both depending on the oxidation stage of chromium; CrO2 and CrIV, respectively, are supposed to cause the catalytic activity.The results allow to predict certain catalytic properties of the investigated mixed oxides concerning the SO2 oxidation.

Die katalytische Aktivität von Cr2O3/SnO2-Mischoxiden wurde mit der Aktivierungsenergie der Leitfähigkeit dieser Stoffe verglichen. Als Testreaktion diente die SO2-Oxydation. Die katalytisch aktivsten Substanzen wiesen die niedrigste AE der Leitfähigkeit auf. Außerdem beeinflußt der Oxydationsgrad der Chromionen die katalytische Aktivität und die AE der Leitfähigkeit. Es konnte wahrscheinlich gemacht werden, daß CrO2 bzw. CrIV die Ursache für die katalytische Aktivität ist. Die erhaltenen Resultate erlauben gewisse Voraussagen über die katalytische Aktivität bei der angewandten Testreaktion.
