Notes: A D.P.N.-dependent dehydrogenase has been found in rat- and pig-liver extracts. It catalyses the reduction of DL-glyceraldehyde to glycerol. The equilibrium of this reaction strongly favours glycerol. The enzyme acts only weakly on dihydroxyacetone.
