Notes: Aus 4 von 5 Mustern der Zwiebeln von Bowiea volubilis Harvey liess sich Bovosid A gewinnen. Aus einem Muster wurde das auch von Tschesche & Sellhorn gefundene Glykosid Bovosid D und eine Bowieasubstanz E genannte Verbindung isoliert. Bovosid A autoxydiert sich in Methanol und in wässrigem Methanol bei Luftzutritt rasch. Hydrolytische Spaltung von Bovosid A gibt L-Thevetose und ein Monoanhydrogenin C24H30O4. Bovosid A enthält eine Aldehydgruppe. Es wird Konstitutionsformel III oder ein stereoisomeres dieser Formel für Bovosid A vorgeschlagen.
