Description / Table of Contents: 2′,3′-O-Silylation of Tubercidin with tert-Butyl(chloro)dimethylsilaneSilylation of tubercidin (1a) with an excess of tert-butyl(chloro)dimethylsilane gives the 2′,3′,5′-tri-O-silyl derivative 1b. On the same route compound 2b was formed from N4-benzoyltubercidin. Formation of the disilyl derivative 1c or 2c has been accomplished by selective removal of the 5′-tert-butyldimethylsilyl group from the trisilyl derivative by the action of zinc bromide or acid. The 2′-monosilyl derivative 3 was obtained by kinetically controlled silylation of N4-benzoyl-5′-O-[(4-methoxyphenyl)(diphenyl)methyl]tubercidin, whereas in the presence of 1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]octane the preferred formation of the 3′-monosilyl isomer 4 was observed.
